I owned one of the original Pearl units, although mine was a later model that came with two small Simmons style trigger pads rather than the acoustic looking ones. Apart from the built in MIDI, the killer feature of the Behringer is the pitch tracking - the original unit could be modified to add a CV input for pitch, but it wouldn't track pitch in any predictable way making it impossible to play conventional melodic parts.
I own an original and modified it with CV input. By adding two small trimmers inside, it's tracking 1v/oct perfectly :) So yes it can in fact play melodies in tune and it tracks very well over multiple octaves.
That's cool! When I owned mine the only mods I could find didn't mention trimpots for adjusting the CV tracking. I mainly used it as a source of sounds to sample for percussion parts.
The classic cv mod worked well on various iterations of the pearl, including the original... as for the midi part, SY-1M set standards here (and if you compare teh Behringer and teh Psycox, you might get to some conclusions... ;)
@@maffezsynthmods yep midi implementation is exactly similar :) too bad we never got new kits, but I got lucky to score an original Pearl last year. It now has the MSW Midi board, but it lacks the first midi mode unfortunately. So I can only control it with 2 different midi channels. I'm very much thinking about switching to the Behringer actually ;)
Behringer is now my favorite manufacturer of fun music toys. Love all the new releases ❤ This looks/sounds like it would be great for stereo patches, with two identical generators to play with 🙂
The "Krawallkastl" seems to be a surprise bag. Personally, it seems a little too limited for me, but the requirement seems to be totally fulfilled, as is the sound beyond any doubt.
Hey … klingt super. Warum hast du denn den Kasten schon? Oder ist die erste Charge schon abverkauft? Hab ich gar nicht mitbekommen dass die den rausgehaun haben.
I'm starting to sound repetitive when It comes to Behringers latest releases, but I think this will work pairing two of them. Especially for the price.
Hi! I love the channel and watch often. I’d like to make a correction at the 8 minute mark. The selector switch chooses between Square and Triangle waveforms, not Square and Sawtooth. Keep up the great work!
Is it velocity sensitive? A lot of the cheap analogs from Behringer are not. Analog drum machines in general tend to lack more than a couple velocities. I do see that you can control decay over MIDI, which is a really nice bonus
I’m sure you do have a trigger for it. Plug your mic in and tap its top. The trigger on synth drums is generally just a piezo pickup. You might even use headphone cones if you haven’t got a mic
I wasn't sure I even wanted to watch this video, I was so uninterested in the Syncussion when I heard about it. But I did (just trying to give the channel a little love), and ... now I think I want one in my studio. Thanks! (Oder viellicht hätte ich "danke" sagen sollen? ...mit meiner schlechten amerikanischen Aussprache...)
@@winesynths Hey, thanks for the response. That's kind of how I felt. The Edge is probably what I'm looking for. The Syncussion just sounds and looks so cool. Faders get me every time. Thanks bro!
I’ll be sending mine back. No fault of Behringers but I understood this as a drum machine. I run pretty minimal and not having a midi controller for this kind of synth renders it useless. I thought it would have some kind of onboard sequencer.

Thanks a lot for this interesting extra content! 🤖

I will certainly be purchasing one of these for my setup. I love its limitations and simplicity. This is exactly what I’m looking for in a synth.

TUNE I THE BACKGROUND IS PURE GOLD! Funny how Behringer found their "thing" in synth necromancy.
Lovely review Man ❤

Great demo's! Its apparent simplicity really makes you underestimate the possibilities it has. At first glance it looked like a very limited machine
Absolutely! It's really worth a try!

Alto music had em early
I've had one a few months. It's great.
Die erste Lieferung. Hatte schnell bestellt!
A must-have for dub techno!
Why ?
@@KosmoDeuz it gives me the urge to make dubby sounds with it.
a big win for Uli bravo!
Good overview.
Purely tonally, the device doesn't offer anything that a DFAM couldn't do, right (2 oscillators, mix, FM...)?
Ideal um Samplestoff zu erzeugen ❤
Nice review, was looking forward to this. such a great value (and fun) for the price. This and the Octatrack make a good marriage :D
Absolutely! With any kind of hardware sequencer you can double the fun! 🤖
I'm starting to sound repetitive when It comes to Behringers latest releases, but I think this will work pairing two of them. Especially for the price.
Totally! We spoke about it and how to combine it with the new RD-like Eurorack Drum-Sequencer!
If they had made the mode function cv controllable it would be so much more powerful.
There is an eurorack module that can do this the SY05. I like the Behringer better.
I use a KAT multipad to trigger my drum machines manually!
Great demo and wonderful sounds.
I have to get one of these!!
Originally I had no interest in this, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting one by year’s end. Hopefully they drop the price to $149 usd by then.
It goes well beyond pew-pew sounds 😂

Ahh! Sorry! Sometimes I get lost in all these Waveforms! Human After All! 🤖😁
@@winesynths Of Course! Just trying to keep the newbies straight! I’ve only had the Syncussion for one day, so am not an expert.
Das coole ist ja dass man den syncussion auch über die Tastatur Tonal spielen kann

Unfortunately no velocity control!
Just got mine. It's already used on a few tracks
Very cool version of the 7 nation army (if that’s what you intended)? I’d like a copy! I've wanted a Syncussion for ages.

Yes Yes 🔥
cool, das muss ich auschecken
Tu Das! Macht echt Spass!
all the sounds remind me of the theme songs on Italian national TV in 1980
Nice :) How come you already have one? Thomann says it's only available in a couple of months.
I try to always order the moment it appears on the Thomann Website. So often I am lucky to be served with the first batch. No magic! 🤖
Oh, that's a good strategy! I myself am a slow purchaser. I normally spend a lot of time reading and watching reviews before I buy anything :)
Better then the Edge? I'm going to pick up an Edge, or do I wait for this? Any Idea when?
It‘s totally different! If you are into live sequencing and tweaking the edge is the better choice. Syncussion is more sound design.
@@winesynths Hey, thanks for the response. That's kind of how I felt. The Edge is probably what I'm looking for. The Syncussion just sounds and looks so cool. Faders get me every time. Thanks bro!
oooohhh Genial 😍
Is that tubular type sound at approx. 13:00 also from the Syncussion?
Yes. Tubular and bell sounds are easy to make with the Syncussion!
@@winesynths Cheers! Thanks for this explanatory video btw 👍
Is there no mode to layer both sides together so they play the same note, on the same MIDI channel?
I think you can select the same Midi Channel with the synthtribe app.
@@winesynths Thanks.

So cool man. That intro reminds me of something.. what is it?

Wut… get a Korg SQ-1 and get busy!!
Like it. Already got a Korg Volca Kick on the way.
Think they would compliment each other well
A Beatstep Pro with a Tama Techstar TS305 would probably make you a fantastic drum machine if you want an analog drum machine.
ill buy it

Why waste resources on some mediocre relics and
clone Simmons SDSV module instead?
