The best thing about those bits is the case. That’s built better then the bits itself. I got a Bauer drill bit set and really love that. The one I had like yours I threw in the trash. I never throw tool’s away but those are unusable.
I got the nice Fisch bits and the mail and the case was falling apart in the package. The case is a piece of junk. I might keep these bits just for the case considering the case cost just as much at these bits lol.
You're welcome! I will say that I bought a Hercules cobalt step bit just the other day to drill out some holes in a trailer hitch extension, and that bit worked very well! But, that bit alone cost more than the whole set in this video.
You got me curious. I'm not a heavy user of drill bits nor do I have the need to precision work so Harbor Freight has sufficed on occasion. But a bend shank is another matter. I plan to drop by Harbor Freight tomorrow and do your experiment of rolling them on a flat surface. Should be interesting. Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention.
I would definitely love to hear how they are. I can't imagine that every set is as bad as the one I received. I only tested the 5 largest bits and at that point it seemed like waste. In my experience the larger bits are usually better lol.
@@mzgarage I read up on the comments on the Harbor Freight site about the Brad Point Bits and there were too many comments (over 33%) about poor heat treating and bend shafts. I took a pass on them based on your experience and these comments since I can use regular high speed bits for basic work. For more the slightly more precision work I do on rare occasion, I picked up the Warrior 1/4"-1" forstner drill bit set. The roll test indicates that shanks are straight. The vast majority of negative comments (about 20%) indicates that there is an issue with dullness/improper sharpening, something I can fix if I run across it. caveat emptor
The 1/2 sae impact sockets i just got are crooked like this. Returned twice and they're all like this. Ok for a bar or ratchet but not the new pricey high torque i just got from there.
@@mzgarage my wife just bought me this set last week out of the blue cause they were one sale. I did the roll walk out test. The set she bought was actually pretty good. Not a single one was out of true. Kinda shocked. I’m still tempted to return them lol

Yea, I can't say anything bad about the case. It's unfortunate that the bits are so bad. I am looking forward to trying the Fisch bits that I ordered.

@@mzgarage That’s crazy both have good quality just in opposite uses haha. Good luck with them
How do you open the box? The box won't even open for me there's something in the middle keeping it there
I can't remember, it's been too long.
Thanks for the video. I’d be afraid to buy wood bits from Harbor Freight but the titanium steel bits worked okay for us.

Stupid case took me a week to figure out how to open it

Yea, Harbor Freight is hit or miss. Some stuff is great, and some not so much!
I bought the $20 generic set. This was the same issue. I thought it was just because of the cheap set. Looks like it’s every set.
Yea I would not buy any bits for precision from there again. Other stuff is good.... zip ties are great lol
