- This is the second horseshow I’ve taken Annie to this year, and while there were some mistakes on both of our parts, it was SUCH an improvement! I’m so proud of how far she has come since she’s been back to work after she was a broodmare last year!
After the show, we went back to the barn to breed Erlene, hopefully the last breeding of the year!
Cross your fingers she takes, and stay tuned!

Do a video where you sit down and interview your vet. Like to hear how he decided to go to vet school, had he had horse experience as a kid, and his whole trajectory into equine repro
Or just do it while he’s taking manure out of the horses like every other video 😂
Every show is a learning curve. I’m coming here as a retired working and show dog breeder of 17 years, and I totally get and understand what Katie is saying. Each show you go to, regardless the outcome. You learn more about your stock and what you need to work on. I love your videos!
❤ you sound like such a proud mama talking her through the course. I love it
I love your vet and something about watching him just casually have convo with you while arm up a mare, flinging it into the corner and going back in, just really makes me giggle everytime.
(I know he’s doing his job and he seems literally amazing at it, just can’t help but laugh)
That was a beautiful shot of him looking over his shoulder ❤ (after the biting incident)- that would be great on your merchandise! ❤
Even though I really don’t like watching the western pleasure lope, it was interesting to watch the trail class and I’m am so happy for you guys and Annie especially with her past with epm ❤ Always fascinating your barn vlogs. Hope your last few mares are good girls and fall pregnant/have successful pregnancies 😄
My retired SJer can walk faster than the western pleasure lope lol
She had a really nice lope in the warm-up. Glad to see a horse not troping and over canted. Very nice.
Annie looks like she is had developed so much since the last show video! Its awesome seeing a horse come back from illness or injury. I'm in the process of rehabbing mine and hopefully he can make it back to shows this summer even if its just walk/trot.
Most level headed, calm horses I've ever seen, and I have retired Belgians!
Annie is so beautiful under the saddle 💜 gorgeous horse!
That is one sharp looking saddle. I think that you both did good. With time I see you two being fantastic! 9th place, I see it going up. Glad things are working like you hoped they would for your mare breeding!
Annie beautiful horse . Doing good every show .❤
Amazing job ❤Annie will improve with every show. Thanks for sharing these beautiful animals with us ❤️
You and your horse were stunning! I show Reiners and I know how tuff it is putting yourself out there. Keep on keepin On!!!!
Beautiful Katie both of you!!🤩 I don't know about shows what's right are wrong but it was awesome to me thanks for sharing!!Always fingers crossed on the baby making!!🥰💜🐴💜🐴🤞🏻🤞🏻
Even with the EPM, Annie looked and did great! Annie is so beautiful! 😍 Katie, you and Annie both looked great together! I don't have a favorite from your barn (too hard to choose), but I love Ethel, she's so goofy with a huge personality and also Annie, because she's still striving to be the best show mare she can be considering the EPM. Erlene is beautiful too, all your mares (foals, Waylon and geldings too) are. I can't remember, was this the first time you bred Erlene? I'm looking forward to seeing you and Erlene show in the future. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Well done Katie and Annie. I loved how you totally took ownership of the lope over being not correct because of something you did. I completely understand how that goes. My coach is always reminding me to get out of my horses way and let him do what he was trained to do. I have a video request... as I show open shows and do not show AQHA... maybe you could give some insight as to why Annie, as an 8 yr old, is being showed in a snaffle bit and then being switched to a curb bit in the last trail go. I'm just curious about those rules. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your show video... I loved it!
I’ve been loving the horse show uploads. Thanks so much for sharing!
You had a beautiful ride! Trail is not an easy class and y'all rocked it! Keep going lovely lady. You have so much to share to the world.
Love how you sit in the safdle
Just peachy cleaned my showmanship halter, show bridle, spurs, and saddle
Me: wondering how there gonna fix the dirt in two days for the reining show
Also me: realizing how clean the arena looks compared to last year 😂
But amazing job girl I have an amazing amount of respect for western pleasure people considering both western pleasure and reining are similar in some ways.
You are such an amazing rider love watching you such a beautiful rider and you are always thinking of your mare….she is such a beautiful mare thank you for sharing all of this…
Annie really tried for you ❤
Annie is absolutely stunning! I also have a quarter horse mare named Annie! We are going to our first AQHA show in July. We are only starting with the walk/jog classes for now. Good luck for the rest of the show season!
Yall looked amazing. Great job. I love your go with it attitude and that you are here for the fun and it's not just about winning it all and pushing her or yourself. Makes it enjoyable to watch. Love the tic toks love the RUclips more ❤❤❤❤
Watching the replay. ❤
Im so amazed watching these processes
Love your tack and saddle !!❤
Great work Annie❤
Thanks for the commentary even though I ended up holding my breath through some of it willing Annie to hear you and be good.
She’s beautiful and so are you! ❤
Annie is sooooo gorgeous ❤ You nailed it Katie 💯🐴
Hey Katie, I am a student at MTSU and I just watched the horse show. I hope I can see Annie in the upcoming show ❤
Good job Annie N Katie U guys did great 💜❤️💜❤️💯💯
Good job annie and katie!!
Hi Katie. I’m a long time follower. I just wanted to say that I’m watching this video right now and am really enjoying it! You and that other lady who was riding are really good. I like these types of videos! ❤ Hello from Pa.
Great job! Also when you do whatever can you also give us the WHY behind it? I for one feel like I would learn a ton more. THANX for taking the time to video and edit and all the other work that goes behind posting a good vid.
I do notice what you mean about Annie not lifting her leg
Hey Katie! Was wondering if possible you could do a tour of your barn on the rare occasion you have time during breeding and fouling season. That saddle looks amazing can't believe it's 10 years old and even though you and Annie made a couple mistakes the two of you did an amazing job and can't believe it's only her 4th time.
Love watching your channel
Had to chuckle a little bit when she got you and realized it was the babies fault lol... the words you probably wanted to say at first lol
Good job ❤❤
Mazing video!!
Katie you look so Beautiful up on Annie. Wish I had the chance to learn to ride. So I guess I ride through you. Go woman🎉😂
Great video❤❤
All that matters is you're enjoying yourself. You make me want to try taking my girl to an open trail.
Love the heifer
I hope this doesn’t come across as creepy or stalkerish. (I’m in Australia anyway so too far to stalk you😂) I was wondering if you would do a barn and outbuildings tour for us. Im genuinely curious about farms and horses but don’t know much about either
My granddaughter had a State Gymnastics competition at Miller when she was 6yrs old. She is 23 now.
The time that I’m watching this tomorrow is my first time at my jackpot show and the belt buckles are so pretty I could die and I also could use a new buckle
This makes me miss showing 😢 I had to put my 29yr old gelding down June 25, 2020 😭
I was wondering if western pleasure riding and western pleasure horse are more suited to weight carriers? I am plus size at 100kg or 220 pounds and it is almost impossible for me to find a horse to ride here in South Africa. We mostly ride english here.
Have you ever seen any of the stallions you use for breeding do a show? Either in person or virtually?
Annie did so good and was beautiful! Also, was the vet just casually throwing away poo 💩 as you check Earlene and impregnated her? 😂cause that was hysterical.
I’m curious, why does the horse keep her head down so low? Is it just part of her natural posture/movement or do you have to train her to walk like that? I’m used to watching walking horses which have a totally different gait and posture. It’s so cool to see a different type of horse do their thang.
Quarter horses have their foundation In working cows. To face a cow well, the horse’s head needs a lower carriage. This attribute carries through the breed regardless of whether they are used as cow horses. As a QH owner I see that Annie’s headset is paired with a lifting of her shoulders, a strong topline, and a driving from the hindquarters… which is what riders of most breeds appreciate. The lift of the shoulders/back keeps them from feeling heavy on the forehand regardless of headset.
Proper show movement is a trained exaggeration of their natural movement. Stock horses (especially pleasure/all-around type) are bred to be "long and low" in their movement. Very sweepy with their legs with minimal knee action. Deep hocked underneath themselves. And their head hung straight out in front of them, level with their topline. Conformationally, they are built with the angles to accomplish the job, much like gaited breeds that have more upright angles to match their knee action. The AQHA rulebook has a great explanation of how their movement is judged, but here is the walk:
SHW331.1 The Walk
SHW331.1.1 Poor Walk - uneven pace and no cadence. Has no flow
and may appear intimidated or appear to march.
SHW331.1.2 Average Walk - has a four-beat gait, level top-line and is
relaxed.
SHW331.1.3 Good Walk - has a flowing four-beat gait, level top-line,
relaxed and is bright and attentive.
I love your channel!! Love the HUS stuff!! What camera do you use to get such high quality video?
Love this ❤️ and have my fingers CROSSED that Beounce is pregnant and you can do an embro transplant to Gracie
Katie please do a full day routine. With riding please.
When their is 2 doses could you freeze one dose to use at a later date or different horse?
Do you ever show Quarter Horse Congress?
Ohhhh was this the making of baby Seven?? ❤
Question, how do you train them to keep there heads down while your showing them?
She send them to a trainer.
❤
She is a gorgeous girl
Just asking I noticed she seems to be dragging her right front leg even when she's trotting imher right front leg just looks different than the rest
❤❤
Katie what is EPM?
Katie: “Annie!”
Me: “Yes?”
Katie: “Annie! Pick your feet up!”
Me: “Yes ma’am!”
Katie “Good girl Annie!”
Me: 😊
Also thought the Doc had “Team Captain” on his shirt, which I thought is kinda funny, cause he is thinking about it 😂
Cewek joka tawwa nabanna'❤❤❤
Katie - just wondering why the horses all keep their heads low instead of high and proud while in the show ring? just wondering
It's not natural 😢
So what kind of competition were we watching?
Question: is their a purpose of showing a horse beyond competition?
It's another way to promote your business, ( eg breeding/genetics ect you use and have available through stallions, mares, foals, competition horses ect for sale and horse training and showing too if you offer that)
You should bred to al get your shine on
Could the affects from the EPM be mistaken by the judges as lameness ?
Is whatever music they play in the background at these shows ever play into causing distraction with the horses?
I know nothing about horse shows. Is there a video where you tell everything that the horse is supposed to be doing? And show what a horse term means. On other horse competitions usually the horses have their heads up, in this 5:05 Annie has her head down, is she watching what she is doing? from Ohio
Why does her hind end not keep up when loping? I’m truly don’t know why, I’m not trying to be rude. I’ve never ridden a pleasure horse.
What about Jordy?
Why do all the horses have thier heads so very much lower ss opposed the higher natural position? It looks weird...
its totally not natural carriage..
Not natural 😢
Funny you mention c sections, I raise a breed of dog that needs a section whenever they have puppies. And yes, it’s stressful.
Then stop freakin breeding them!!!
Is she limping? It looks like she is limping and having problems.
Hey girl I like your videos on your Facebook
Who was the lady with blonde hair that rode her first?
My trainer
Why are their heads down??
If you google some of the way this is done, you would not be to thrilled. I cant believe this trend is still going. Its totally not a natural way a horse would carry their head.
Even the way they move looks lazy. Wasn't the way it was at one time
You lot are so sensitive, okay you want to talk about natural, hou about muzzles and teaching dogs tricks, lets tack about that, about having to beg for something(aka treats or prizes for their tricks)
Do you do rings jewelry
How do you feel up there on one of Gods creations
I don't know how you quarter horse people can call that gait a lope. Just bizarre.
i am glad you are happy with her performance , but i really do hope the woman laughing and making comments weren't aimed at you and you couldn't hear them while you were doing your thing, you dont look happy at the end and when taking the saddle off
Which foul was that with Beyoncé?
Stands are empty 😢😢😢
Why do you wait till the last minute to order the semen? I k ow you can’t know the exact date, but it could at least get you on the list. Also, don’t they have frozen semen that could be used in situations like this?
As a Brit. I don't really understand that show class as it looks a very unnatural way of going for the horse. Was she trotting behind and attempting a canter motion in front.
Would love an explanation.
I can’t believe you showed that horse. I hear you talk about nothing but caring about your horses. They’re the number one thing you could definitely see on TV that horse was in so much pain. You should’ve never rode that horse that day she was in way too much painshame on you
It must be so difficult to wash Annie show with the trainer riding
Not really, I love watching her
Phine’s side eye I know nothing….
I’ve never seen a show so empty
Smaller quarter horse shows don’t ever have spectators
I was just wondering how Beyoncé has a baby that young and is already ovulating and getting impregnated.
I understand this is a constant conversation, but it would be so much better if we cycled back around so we didn't have our show horse dragging their noses in the dirt.
Their noses aren't dragging in the dirt it's correctly just below level which indicates they're using their hindquarters and body correctly and the correct way of carrying their head in western classes
@@anna5169 This trend comes and goes depending on trainers popularity and how much handlers can handle horses without aids and the use of draw reins- I can engage my horses just fine without their noses dragging
And again these horses noses aren't dragging they're just below level. I'm fully aware of the trend that used to be with the peanut rollers but this is not that
@@anna5169 The second any of you can ride at Liberty, without bridles and saddles- no aids to help you, I'll believe you. That is not the correct way for ANY horse to carry their head- that is an artificial construct someone decided was correct. I can just as easily say it is correct for people to bark at red lights. That doesn't make it sane.
@@servicedogkyzanna1761 yea ok 👌
