I'm sorry that you had to see that spoiler, i had the same thing and without clicking on the video its already spoiled by the title and thumbnail because i'm a nice person (and not cucked by Sonic) i wont say what it was just that it was a returning zone that made me happy and angry at the same time as i wanted to discover it on my own, even though i cant play the game until 29th as im PC only :(
You sir are possibly one of the few smartest sonic fans, i don't really like forces either but it's fans like you that let me feel good with my opinions, even when there are thousands, possibly millions that hate fans like us.
@TelekinesticMan Thanks for the shoutout. I agree with everything you've said and I enjoy how you not only have a substantial understanding of the Sonic games, but you have humor and a personality as well. I honestly loved it when you were finally relieved to receive "smart" comments. I just wanted to say that I agreed with, particularly with the fact that Forces seems nothing like Generations. It has the core gameplay intact, but it's empty, hollow, and has literally no heart and soul put into it. Forces so far seems too automated, linear, and empty. For Modern Sonic, all you're doing is running in a straight line completing enemy chains or completing blocky platforming. With Generations, there was more effort in expansive level design, more emphasis on 3D platforming, and the boost was actually used to open up the area which is constantly seen in Seaside Hill. There was more effort and creativity put into it and Forces in comparison seems hollow. Even Classic Sonic feels nothing like he did in Generation because of the linear level design and endless springs for no reason. In this sense, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I played Generations and absolutely loved it. I wanted them to go forward in that direction and like you, wanted to see more emphasis on 3D sections like Generations did. When I saw Forces, I was generally intrigued by the concept only to be let down when thy showed us gameplay footage. Hopefully both of our impressions change for the better after they release Mania and show some more gameplay footage. For the time being, keep up the good work and continue making great, informative videos.
So apparently if you like Mania over Forces you're nostalgia blind. I've seen this "argument" so many times and it's just so stupid. They competently ignore what your criticisms are with Forces and just go straight to the Nostalgia argument. Newer Sonic Fans are giddy for Mania too because they find them to be really well designed games, it has nothing to do with nostalgia as to why Mania looks good.
Thank you, that's exactly what I think as well. I would love to have a great 2D Sonic and a great 3D Sonic this year, but Forces just looks bad. And also it has barely any 3D WHOOPS
TelekinesticMan I'm still optimistic about forces. It doesn't seem like it's gonna blow me out of the fuckin water and I don't think it will be as good as mania but I don't think it looks terrible and I'm hoping it's going to be a fun experience.
i watched this listening to diamond in the sky !! look man im so excited for this game !!! lol im n the process of drawing archie sonic !! but anyway dope video
Haha, most of the comments here are jokes but they aren't my friends doing them (aside from Hobojoe, Jackson and Jamie earlier on). I haven't a clue who some of these joke comments are coming from but I love them all the same.
Sonic Forces is basically official "lame sonic fanfic". Edgiest Mary Sue villain? Check. Original the Character? Check. "WOW! HE FASTER THAN SONIC!" Check. The first time i see Infinite i literally laugh my ass off. I literally thinking, may Sega do this on purpose? I DO want to see the whole game. It`s gonna be hilarious.
Yeah Infinite and the OC are probably the worst things to be added to the franchise in Forces. It all comes off as trying way too hard while not really trying hard enough at the same time. It's pandering, honestly. I don't know if Sonic Team are super smart or super dumb in that regard, because the game will sell a lot to young kids and DeviantART Sonic fans.
Hey no problem or anything I think forces looks OK ig I just wished it showed more pathways and remember its just a demo so they don't want to hype up forces in my opinion to much so mania can keeps us OK for a lil while
Have you seen TheSavageKA's channel? I watched a few seconds of his Overwatch video and he's a literal kid. No older than 15. It's hilarious. On another note, and no, I am not joking when i say that I find Sonic fans to be beyond ridiculous. You all praise this mediocre franchise that nearly reliably disappoints with often mediocre, broken, or in my opinion, poor controlling games (any 3D boost formula game). Then when one finally comes out that looks halfway decent, you say it has the potential to be one of the greatest games of all time? With nearly half of it's ideas being reused concepts from games over 20 years old and dismissing one of the most blockbuster filled years in recent history, Sonic Mania will be more historically relevant than Resident Evil VII? Nier: Automata? Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, ARMS, NIOH, and a wealth of others, plus games that haven't released yet, and for what, because it has "Sonic" in the title? Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for Mania as well. A lot more than I anticipated, to be honest. You are also entitled to your opinion, naturally and that has to be respected, as you presented it in a well produced format, however, I found your last video to be a little hyperbolic and it perfectly sums up why I am generally dismissive of the Sonic fan community. The SFC has some of the most expressive, talented, and dedicated players a games franchise could ever hope for, including yourself, I find it is wasted on a franchise who's core series is so often peppered with objectively questionable products at best and outright duds at worst.
I see what you mean about the Sonic series, but for me, there are some seriously great games out there and that's enough for me to avoid the bad ones. I love Sonic 3 & Knuckles so much, and genuinely think it's a fantastic game, and Mania is continuing on with that style so that's why I cannot wait. It would be like if Super Mario World or Super Metroid had a proper, true sequel. Unfortunately most people dismiss Sonic 3 from that tier of classic games, but I completely disagree. I get your points, and I respect your views, though.
I think Sonic 3 is an incredible game, but in a different way than the likes of Megaman X, Super Mario World, Super Metroid and the like. Sonic 3 is more of a spectacle experience. The speed, the size of the levels, the music and presentation. Those are all of it's most captivating elements, not necessarily the moment to moment gameplay, which the listed previous examples are more predicated on. For my money, Yoshi's Island is the best 2D Mario game, Metroid Zero Mission is the best and Shovel Knight is doing great as a sort of Spiritual Successor to Megaman's lost legacy. I haven't been keeping a close eye on Mania because I would like for there to be some surprises, but for me, and I know this is a minor detail to hing my acceptance on Mania being a true sequel to Sonic 3 or not, but it has to have seamless act transitions and cutscenes to transition zones. The Sonic Advance series didn't do it, so for me, that knocked them out of the running for being a true sequel and the less said about the 4 sub series, the better.
I get your opinions, and that's fine. For me it is the gameplay of Sonic 3 that makes it so fantastic. But to each their own. I'm not saying Sonic Mania is THE GAME OF THE YEAR, but that it will be MY Game of the Year. Does that make sense?
Sure, I get what you mean. I just don't get the fervor as a whole. As entertaining as Sonic games can potentially be, I don't see how, with the many advancements in games made over the last 2 decades, anyone, other than a diehard fan, can ever view those games as being the best that they will experience in a given year. To me, it's a line of thinking that throws objectivity out the window simply because "a game in my favorite series was good", and as a person who shares his opinions in detailed, analytical formats, I find the lack of objectivity when you're clearly capable of nuanced thought to be disturbing. It's another core of Sonic fandom that just rubs me the wrong way. Critical thinkers with insane amounts of insight, wasting their time and talent on a series that I flat out think isn't deserving of the attention it gets. Granted, my opinion doesn't mean a thing in the grand scheme of things. You like what you like, and that's fine. You do you as best as you can, I just figured I'd make a comment that will ultimately go nowhere.
I will accept that better games will probably release this year. Metroid: Samus Returns and Super Mario Odyssey are my other GOTY contenders at the moment, but we'll see how that turns out. It's just that for me personally, Sonic Mania will be the game I enjoy the most and get the most replayability and joy from, therefore making it my favourite game this year. I don't really see what's "disturbing" about that.
Hope you guys enjoy the video! Here are some handy time stamps to skip around with!
