adding the aim-120 would counter balance this also the aim-120 can be added for multiple nations along with it opening the door for a large amount of future planes
AIM-120A would still have less range than the AIM-7F/M and R-27ER. I’d say just add it already. R-77 is too advanced tho
@@collander7766 it would have less range but it would be super powerful, you can just disengage from every other missile while the AIM-120 will do its thing. Also AIM120s are way way harder to notch or defeat otherwise. I agree we should add it soon but the range is not the only factor since most engagements are around 15km max anyway and in that range the AMRAAM will shine
radar missiles are pretty op at close range, undodge/notchable and you can use it in rear aspect at close range
the problem is chaff pretty much instantly kills them rear aspect, and if you’re too close it’s easy to out pull. you can simply just not let yourself be flying head on to somebody at close range or hug the ground

@@SeekerHead I tend to spam radar lock in those rear aspect shots, but even then it's still pretty hit or miss
tbh AIM-7s are really easy to dodge at all ranges
I find that when I’m high up and launch a radar missle at low people so it’s going down at a steep angle they tend to not miss

I see no bad takes here. Personally I’d go with the f14b as my number 1 now. I don’t mind fiddling with radar controls and even use the manual mode often so I can choose weather the radar is looking up or down and pick the target by hand. Flight performance also just extremely good, the new engines can quite easily let it keep up with the f16 and mig29 in a BFM fight.

I agree with mainly everything here this is a bit personal to me but personally I’d see the f-16aj or even adf as number 1 sure the adf is a bit heavier but I find it’s easier for it to pull harder at slower speeds since it can bleed off speed quicker granted I know AoA fighting isn’t that effective but the absolutely busted f-16 flight performance let’s you do it anyway and still have energy. Also for the current meta because of staying low ER’s don’t feel threatening to me at all so just having an arguably better ir missile than a mig-29 (it’s widely accepted that the 9L is superior but eh I’d be fine with r-60s tbh) is already nice coupled with a low fuel load the turn performance isn’t too bad. And really it’s faster than everything except a 29 so you can run down everything and the f-14 is so easy to push that I just can’t put it above the f-16 or 29. The best part is because of its fantastic flight performance whenever a mig is trying to run me down I have absolutely no fear understanding I will destroy it in a dogfight pretty much all the time people say their comparable in turn performance but I’ve yet to see that be true. And despite people saying you can’t look everywhere at once as it turns out I definitely can and I never really take an r-60 up the ass, intuition, positioning and looking saves you from all that. Sorry for the essay but yeah that’s just my subjective view on the f-16
EDIT:and objectively I understand the 29 is better but to me who understands how to actually not fucking die lmao it is a very easy plane to counter and I never feel pressured by it nor the f-14B nor other f-16 variants nothing really. Maybe it’s because I play to my aircraft’s strengths well. Maybe it’s because their ass players idk but it’s just my opinion

The end talking about the 27er is 100% the speed you can see a sparrow get launched at you, wait a few seconds launch your Er then just notch and slow down and your missile will hit first almost everytime, and also yea the hmd with the r 60m is nice it lets you get the missiles off at weird angles making people not see them as often

im gonna say that in terms of flight performance, all of the planes on this list are extremely balanced together. i dont think any plane is above another (the only exception being the BLK15/20 vs the F-16AJ). when you take off the limiting factor of the instructor for RB, then you start to really bring out the flight models of the planes.
As a main SB player thats what i aways say,but still ppl out there saying "gaijin hate x nation limiting x plane"...it doesnt its just mf has so many assists that destroy his performance like every other game,for example racing games assists slow you down as hell

Where would you say the Mig 23 (ML, MLD, MLA) fits into this list? Would it rank somewhere around the 7-8 range or a little higher in the 9-10 range?
I feel the Yak-141 deserves at least an honorable mention(though personally I would put it in 4th place) purely because it does the R27ER better than even the MiG29.
It’s flight performance is so memey that most people don’t even know how to fight you and can easily get one circled(I know a one circle is like the least consistent way to win a dogfight).
It’s small missile capacity is also not that big of a deal since auxiliary missiles are either an AIM7F equivalent or a slightly worse R-24.

mirage 2000-5F laughing in all angle dopler. Jokes apart the 2000 can launch radar missile from behind and guide it very well thx to that new all angle dopler radar. u cant chaff it and it will hit at 100% if well launched

As someone who has played all of these plane, yes, the mig 29 is the top dog by a long shot. It's got great speed, a good flight model, decent IR missiles, AMAZING (best in the game) SARH missiles, and HMD. And yes, the HMD is a game changer. It is a huge advantage in a turn fight. After having played the Mig 29, I find it frustrating with other aircraft when I have to point the nose directly at the target to lock a missile... with the 29's HMD, so many possibilities and trick shots are opened up. All of this combined makes it the best.

In terms of AJ vs Netz, just like how you can't always be looking around for IR missiles, you aren't always going to be in position and ready to evade a SARH (though as goes for every missile, good players will die to it much less). This is why the 27ER is so good because you just instantly delete anyone who even half considers taking a bad line. Good idea putting them together on the list though, as both planes are 2 minmaxed sides of the same coin.
I basically put it this way: All missiles are god tier when your opponent lacks awareness. It's incredible how hard it can be to hit someone with a 9L when they are paying attention for the launch and actually flare in time. That goes for literally everything lmao

I don’t play top tier, but I do enjoy watching videos like this. The fact that a 27ER matches a Phoenix range means I’m comfortable with my decision to stick with the gunfighters. Sure, it’s more manoeuvrable, but longer range? I don’t think so. Vatnik bias? Maybe not. But it’s suspicious that the majority of broken stuff comes from their stable. Same with tanks. IRL the T72+ auto loader turns out to be a cheat key for the turret tossing olympics but in game, it’s hard to hit the ammo. Their war crime invasion has shown this is not how it works.
Well, it's also a bit hard to hit the autoloader's spare ammo (where most of the turret tossing comes from), as often times you lase and fire immediately in centre mass.

Ironically enough, I have much more success with Navy Phantoms than F-14s. Sure, flight performance, and especially acceleration on B is great, but I'm fighting my own radar more often than I fight the enemy. ACM capped at 9km, no HMD and manually managing radar dish for off boresight locks... there's a reason why Tomcat is two seater.

@@SeekerHead mirage 2k are the best dogfighter in the game and have one of the best radar in the game xD i destroy every f16 or f14 with and i have almost 4-5 kill per match with it . i dont understand why people want 8 or 10 missile xD every f16 or mig 29 i see in game have max 4 kill with missile and mirage 2k have the same number of kill with very good missile but poor number and you have the power to kill every jet in 1vs1 and its not nothing ! mig29 are the only one i need to tryhard for kill in dogfighter but f14 or f16 its EZ kill with gun or magic 2
the mirage 2000 just simply doesn’t beat the mig29 or f16, and probably not the f14B. i don’t doubt you “destroy them every time” but that’s simply a difference in player skill. with a competent player, the M2K gets stomped in 1v1 versus those jets. If you’re interested I can show you

@@SeekerHead Oh I love slinging SARHs at people. That's not what I dislike about top tier. What I don't like is the whole "hug the ground, because the minute you don't you die" thing. Idk, maybe I'm too much of a Migger and got a little too accustomed to darting towards the stratosphere and orbital striking people...

MiG 29 can also disengage after it realises that it got too slow with an F16 because mf got better acceleration and top speed

It's not powercrept. I'd say M2K is between F-14B and Yak-141. It's definitely stronger than F-14A, and definitely stronger than F-16A ADF. I am surprised it's not on the list.
If you ask me, it's:
1. MiG-29 (worse radar than F-16, but better SARH. Worse rate than F-16, but better instantaneous turn.
2. F-16AJ/Netz (by a very small margin, could be in the first place. If flown properly, leaves no chance to every plane mentioned below)
3. F-14B (due to overall endurance, not actual performance. It's a jack of all trades, master of none, other than 8 missiles)
4. Mirage 2000 (the fighter variants, very good at 1 circle, decent speed, meh acceleration. Beats F-14B in 1v1, but less efficient in Air RB)
5. Yak-141 (lethal missiles, very good acceleration, undisputed 1-circle king, only number 5 because it's hard to master, can't maintain energy as well as Mirage in reduced AoA and doesn't shine in endurance category)
The ADFs and alike isn't worth mentioning due to severe AoA limits, so severe even a competent Phantom could punish you. I'd much rather play MiG-23MLD than that thing. And the F-14A probably is the №6 jet on the list. Due to endurance, again, not the overall performance, which is a tiny step above MiG-23MLD.

@@EriIaz the one problem with the mirage is missile count and the missile quality, it isnt modeled very well 530d still leads too early in flight and goes after random things and gaijin doesnt seem to want to fix it
I don't think that having only IR missiles in top tier makes a good plane, maybe right now it does but once people start to learn that all they need to do is cut the afterburner and drop a flare the "Netz" won't be very good (missile wise)
at the same time though, once people learn they just need to hug the ground, radar missiles won’t be very good. it can be simplified to both ways. I think good IRs are more important because they’re the ones that are Less likely to be easily countered due to the simple fact they don’t tell the enemy ur shooting at them. it gives you a window of opportunity to kill them while they’re dealing with other things, where as with a radar missile they’re warned and can react accordingly no matter the current situation

I mostly play ground so id compare this to tanks with armor vs tanks without, I take tanks with armor and play them like one without, its just harder to counter.
from my experience in 8.7 air, its not hard to hear/see missiles coming your way.
my only experience against radar missiles were in custom battles, one time I was trying to fight an f16 and I had to do a lot of work to get rid of his radar missiles but the IR ones were no problem with

ummmm you said your only experience with radar missile was from custom battles? That’s not very similar to a regular air rb match. Anyways, on maps like Sinai, radar missiles become almost obsolete, because all you have to do is hug the ground and it wont even hit you, and if you are flying high, it warns you of an incoming launch, so you can just 90 degree chaff it no problem. But ir missile don’t have that issue, it doesn’t care about how close you are to the ground, and it doesn’t care about your orientation relative to them, and it doesn’t warn the enemy, and it’s easier to use. And in top tier, (unlike 8.7) everybody has all aspect 30g missiles, so you have to literally be looking at all directions in order to never die from a well placed 9L, r60m, or python 3. As with radar missiles it literally tells you where you are being launched from, so you can take appropriate measures. Also side note, yes in principle it is easier to dodge ir missiles but in practice it’s tricky, you have like a 2 second window to spot a python3 from a 360 degree view, after that, the missile burns out and will no longer be spotted, but with radar missiles, they have a much longer burn time, and warn you of where they are coming from.
This is why I like mid-top tier (9.7-10.7) the best. I'm mostly a MiG-21 guy (at least currently) and I've found that climbing up to like 30000 feet and orbital striking with R-13s or R-60s can be very effective. Can't do this at top tier without eating an R-27, Sparrow, or Phoenix
If I did this kind of list id add the F-4E in place of the F-14A. Sure it doesn't have PD radar, sure it doesn't get access to Aim-7F's or aim-54s but.. IF YOU know how to fly it its an absolute BEAST. The aim7e2 DF's are actually very underrated and will pull the same amount of G's as the 7F, the only difference is that they don't fly as far but in todays meta of sub 10km engagements that's fine with me. And the AIM-9J isnt all that bad of a missile, it can pull 20g which is 2 more than the aim9H or aim9g the f-14 or other phantoms can carry and its at least a 3 km range missile if the situation is good. And lets not forget the manueverability of this plane, for a phantom its good and being 11.0 it constantly sees downtiers rn of 10.0 because of the matchmaker, and thats insane. Fighting 10.0 jets with 10g missiles and no flares while you have 25g sparrows and 90 flares is nuts to me. (acm mode on the radar gets you locks you didnt think you could get, try it out sometime)

@@Syvern. lmaoo what? I’ll agree that the J-7E is good but the F-4E is equally as good. It turns good, for a phantom. Has good missiles for its Br just lacks a decent radar but you can make the radar work. My K.D in the F-4E is 2.6

Hey Seek quick question. How are you able to go to high altitude at top tier and not get constantly spiked by radar and get missiles shot at you? Every time I do it, I get missiles hit at me and then I have to descend to lower altitude.
