This is very helpful! One thing I'd like to add is that an oil painting should never be directly against plastic. The oil can react with the plastic. It is best to wrap an oil painting first in glassine paper or even parchment paper so it doesn't ruin the finish.
That was super helpful. I’ve been trying for the life of me to figure out how to ship paintings. Mostly I’ve had to hand them over in person but that isn’t a thing I can do forever so thank you very much for teaching me this
1. This was absolutely BRILLIANT! 2. Leave it to an artist to tap their creativity: a) how to package and ship in a non-traditional way, b) sourcing materials - extremely creative in sourcing materials, and c) sharing the process. I have two pieces (my first) ready to go and I’ve been cringing at using a courier or the postal service, so this was perfect! Thank you for sharing and I mean that sincerely. Wishing you all the best - your work is lovely and I’m anxious to see more of your videos.
Very helpful, thank you! I love to see someone going for the dollar store supplies. All other shipping videos made me believe I had to spend a lot of $$$ before I even earn anything
I have been working all day on a box to ship a painting to my Granddaughter. Tomorrow I am going to the dollar store & get the cardboard tri-folds. Thank you so much for the easy to follow directions. The box looks nice too.
The term for making the mark without cutting through your entire board is "scoring". This is wonderful. I have a 3x4 painting I need to ship and I'm so nervous that it'll be damaged. So hard with one of a kind art! Your presentation looks so professional and neat! This is how I'll do it! Thank you!!! Note: Rather than cutting off the long sides, if you scored and folded them also, you would add more strength to the side of your box, adding more reassurance that something won't crush it easily.
This is the best shipping a painting video that I have seen!! I am newer to launching a small business and shipping out paintings and photography and this has been so so so helpful! Especially for those large pieces that there isn’t a box for.
Just wanted to let you know this is awesome! I’m shipping my first ever painting out tomorrow and these instructions were great. Dollar Tree had everything I needed and it amounts to less than $5 for the materials to ship one 20x20 painting 🖼️. Thank you! 🙏🏼
Loved this video. I recently purchased over 100 acrylic paintings and need to start planning once they sell. I was looking into purchasing boxes that would run me a bit of money, but if i didn't come across your video, i would have spent hundreds of dollars. Thank you ❤
Thank you for this. Was wondering how to mail out an 18 x 20 painting since I can't find anything to fit it in. Awesome. Now I can make it work. Be safe. Merry Christmas.
Hi Cory.... I'm about to ship my first painting from Nova Scotia to Toronto. When I make my box I'll be watching your video again for help.... Thankyou very much... I subscribed too... ❤
Great video....wow things are much cheaper in your dollar store than in Australia. If you could even get these items you'd pay so much more. Very helpful video tho. Thankyou!
Hello, Thanks very much for this informative video. I’d like to know which shipping company do you use, because I pay a lot for shipping and it’s almost not worth it anymore. Thanks again
Thank you for this video ! And Canada shipping is sooo expensive, shipped a painting to a client in France from Quebec it cost me 92$ for a 11x 13 in painting 😢 and the parcel got delayed. If you have any tips on shipping cost too I would be very eager to hear it 😊
I use this same method, except I source larger materials for free from big box stores like Ikea, especially for larger pieces of cardboard and foamcore 🤓
Here in Canada I use Canada Post most of the time, with a small business account which is free but saves you a little bit! The cost really depends on size and where it is going, but Canada post has a really good freight calculator where you can input the size of your package and the destination and it will give you an estimate. I find it very accurate!
Go behind any shopping center and get card board for free. Just grab it out of the recycle bins. Turn any box inside out and use it. Money saved. I don't know about putting that plastic right over acrylic. Ide be afraid of it sticking to it. If it sweats at all the painting is gone. I guess don't send in the dead of summer...
Hi Tiara! The plastic bag works fine for me over varnish, but just to be safe you can do what some oil painters do and put a piece of glassine paper between your artwork and the bag. Hope that helps 🙃
iBe PaintiN On Big Boards And It Be Difficult ShippiN These Thangs Out Bcz Idk NuthiN Bout ShippiN. So Wht I'll Do Is I'll Tell Ppl Come Thru My Spot 2 Pick It Up Lol

Great tip! My paintings are all Acrylic :)
Can you provide some references for this as I read that Saran Wrap was the best way to wrap an oil painting. Thank you.
Thanks for this comment! What about water color or gauche ?
Thanks for sharing. I use acrylics. But I still believe this will be helpful.😁
Dollar store supplies = brilliant! Thank you for this tutorial!

Awesome I hope this makes it easier for you :)
This was extremely helpful. Just started out and realized my biggest cost sink came from packaging. This should cut down for sure on that!

Amazing, thank you
Very helpful 😀thank you
Thank you! Very helpful!
Best I've seen. Thanks for sharing❤❤❤❤
thank you so much :)
This was the most in-depth video I saw, thank you for sharing with us!! I love the tutorial
Thanks so much, glad it was helpful :)
Thank you! Very helpful. But to cut with the ruler you need it to be cork side down. Holds it in place better 😊
I actually flip it to get a more accurate cut because cork side down sometimes is not totally accurate as there is a gap! :)
@@Corijaye oh never had that happen. Ok 😊
Excellent video, thanks for all the tips & tricks Cori Jaye. I’m off to the $ store!
so happy I could help :)
CREATE A BOX YOU ARE GENIUS!
😅🤓 glad you like the idea!
Awesome video and great ideas, many thanks! :))
Which dollar store were you able to purchase the white cardboard display panel?
I got them from Dollarama here in Manitoba, Canada :)
Hello, Thanks very much for this informative video. I’d like to know which shipping company do you use, because I pay a lot for shipping and it’s almost not worth it anymore. Thanks again
Hi there - I’m in Canada - are you?
Thank you so much! So so so so helpful!
So glad I could help :)
Great idea
Thanks so much!
This a great idea! Best tutorial video! I was having the hardest time finding the ideal box for an antique frame.
Glad it was helpful! :)

I know it’s brutal here in Canada! I suggest shopping around for other shipping companies and getting quotes instead of only using Canada Post!
@@Corijaye If I found a good one I will make a video for all our Canadian's fellow artist 😉. Thank you for the tips for packaging thats awesome
Thanks Marya!
Thanks alot ♥️
Great video. Thanks
Thanks so much :)
Great video! Any ideas for larger paintings?
I use this same method, except I source larger materials for free from big box stores like Ikea, especially for larger pieces of cardboard and foamcore 🤓
Thank you so much for quick reply. Your video was very helpful and excellent.
Great!! It was very helpful!
I have a questions for you.
Where did you buy Trifold board and foamcore?
Dollarama here in Canada 🇨🇦
Walmart has both too!
Thanks now to scrap some bubble wrap and get to work.
Just wish you guys would label your videos correctly. This isn't shipping. This is packing. Huge difference.
I’m in the uk we have packaging companies who sell boxes and bubble way cheaper than what this costs
How much does it cost to ship? And what courier?
Here in Canada I use Canada Post most of the time, with a small business account which is free but saves you a little bit! The cost really depends on size and where it is going, but Canada post has a really good freight calculator where you can input the size of your package and the destination and it will give you an estimate. I find it very accurate!
@@Corijaye thank you! I leave in the U.S but ill see if they have something similar .
Look for a "rate calculator" from your local postal service, Im sure they have one too :)

Does the plastic bag not stick to the varnish at all?
Hi Tiara! The plastic bag works fine for me over varnish, but just to be safe you can do what some oil painters do and put a piece of glassine paper between your artwork and the bag. Hope that helps 🙃
Where do you sell your art work?
Thank you for this helpful information.
I sell on my etsy shop and my personal website, both linked in the top corner banner and at the bottom of the video :)
First two materials we don't have in shops in England. 😒
Yes but how much is the actual shipping for a box this size? :)
It varies by country and carrier! You can use a rate calculator by the carrier you select to get an idea!
Thought you said cheap ha
