Hey look, a song from back when Manson's brain wasn't entirely wrecked on drugs and he had an actual, solid band that cared about quality and originality. Weren't those nice times?
The frontman destroyed the band for his own ego and yes men. Gacy here shows, as Michael Beinhorn stated during explaining how was recording "Coma White" with them in studio, what a secret weapon he could be. A fantastic musician. As were Twiggy, Ginger, John, Gidget, Skold, Vrenna... Now we have "The Pale Emperor", written by a blockbuster movie dude who tells that he never really listened to Manson, and Manson that just shows up to sing. Terrible.
Looney-Tick Productions I like a few of the songs from The Pale Emperor, but it's obviously in no way what Marilyn Manson was back in the golden years. Brian couldn't get along with anybody, and has been and is an out of control drug addict. Stephen Bier (Gacy) seems like he was one of the more unique and creative members of old-school Manson, but I'd imagine he was probably not the easiest person to work with either. Not sure if you've ever paid attention to his social media, but he comes across as a narcissistic sociopath a decent amount of the time. That's not to speak badly about his artistic capabilities though.

I think Marilyn Manson were what they were, not because they were easy people - no one of them was!, from Ginger to Twiggy, and from Manson to Pogo, which proved in the years he wasn't an act. He really was that rabidly extreme, creative and amazing at music and in creating a trademark, as much as he has his high and lows. I always find the real last great album Warner did was "The High End Of Low", I think that was a really beautiful record... just, it took time to grow on me. But it has a band behind which cared. "Hired guns" will forever write some great hits (I enjoy "Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge", or "Say 10" as well), but the spirit and the team work is totally disappeared. As well as the level of production, which until "Holy Wood", was STELLAR. You can still feel some nuances in sounds and layers there after 20 years... these records are more like "fast food"

They had their classic, iconic, destructive parabola like Led Zeppelin or other giants of rock music. And I'm quite thankful experiencing how GREAT music could be felt when it was published in those years, what a thrill it has been. It seemed like they were a bunch of strong, volatile personalities jammed together creating incredible music through a haze of drug abuse. Unsurprisingly, this wasn't able to last very long, but while it did, yeah, it was amazing. Such an incredible moment in cultural history. I really wish I was able to experience their live show through the early to mid 90s especially, but I was too young then. I'm in my early 30s now... I caught Marilyn Manson live twice, once during the Eat Me Drink Me era (which in my opinion, is his last great, or at least really good, album. I like some of THEOL) it was an alright concert, and the second time was somewhat prior to THEOL, and by then he wasn't really playing a whole lot of material off of Eat Me Drink Me, so I got to hear stuff like Little Horn and Tourniquet, but still, not what it could have been if I was there earlier on... As far as modern rock music goes, I don't really pay attention to it. I mostly keep up with the "underground" extreme metal scene these days, and there's a lot of interesting activity going on there, in my opinion. Don't know if you're into that sort of thing or not, but maybe check it out. You know, like death, black, doom metal type stuff, though it can get to be a lot more complicated than just all of that.
