Not the first time I’ve heard something like this. Lefty EDC had some kind of business relationship with them and made a “negative” video about one of their products. It wasn’t even really negative if I remember correctly, he just said it wasn’t for him or something along those lines, and they basically ended their business with him. Makes me feel even better that I’ve not bought, and won’t buy, any of their products.

One thing I have come to appreciate about you X is you lay out the good, the bad, and the ugly for companies. Not everyone is going to be great at everything and that is okay. What I don’t appreciate is other content providers having blind allegiance/Fanboy only content as well as companies unable to tolerate constructive criticism. Thanks for calling it out. Much respect.
Looks like my money would be going to someone else. It's not a good look for them to do that to me. Seems pretty unprofessional of them. They should go kick sand.
A brand I've wanted stuff from for a long time saw a comment of mine about their availability and obtaining of their products, and tood me to reach out to them. I questioned if it was real or not, and I'll be damned that it was. A few emails later, and I was able to get a product of theirs in my hand. I've since bought a few more of their products when drops hit, and I'm happy about it. Will definitely buy from them again.

I genuinely don't have an issue with that guy, but he's clearly the biggest example of what I hate in the EDC community though. Having everything come down to a dick measuring contest for who has the best $1000+ EDC loadout in matching colors lol. I never see that dude promoting anything affordable ever which is my biggest issue. When you are getting a Low, Mid, and High value opinions it is most ideal because people can see how much they actually want to spend on what they are buying. EDC influencers that don't take the time to respect saving their viewers money(aside from entertainment the only real value they provide to viewers) I'm personally new to this channel, Jon Gadget is my main EDC guy.

Second - I watch your videos, just like I watch other influencers’ video, because I appreciate the professionalism and honesty in evaluating a product I may be interested in buying.

I stick with county comm stuff mostly. Amazing customer service, typically replies same day. One of their lead team members interacts with folks daily on the Facebook group too asking for feedback
You giving a positive or negative review should be seen as a positive either way. If it's a positive review, they know their on the right track. If negative, they need to see what they can do better. A honest opinion like you give should be appreciated by manufacturer and consumer as a like.🦉

I respect this video. Honesty of a product is all that matters. Dont tell me you love something because you got it free. I absolutely hate looking at new reviews because too many people aren't truthful.
Thanks for letting us know what companies do outside of the public eye! That speaks volumes. In today's world, social media departments are the main face of the company and can have a major impact on the company.

I bought 2 pens from them several years ago. That mini pen in black titanium and titanium bolt action pen. I love them both and use the mini pen all the time. But paid a lot of money for them. And probably won't buy anything else from them because it's out of my budget.

See I don't know, it matters who you talked to at the show vs who the person was that responded with the lookback info etc. The thing I think you nailed pretty good is they do seem to try and come off (as many many companies do) as American made to garner a pretty niche customer market. Which I think that can be a bit deceptive but I'm also not a diehard "IT HAS TO BE MADE IN MERICA" because even that stamp has minimal requirements that most diehards would oppose. They make good products that are priced a little on the high side but obviously not too high that they don't have a solid following. As a corporate economist I'd say they have pretty good pricing optimization in their structure. As for their B2B relations I'd be trying to get in touch with the owner/individual who's in charge of that but you've also put way more effort into contacting them than I would have ever wasted my time with in the first place!

There's a misconception that anything made in China is automatically low-quality. China is capable of producing excellent goods. However, companies that prioritize the absolute cheapest materials, labor, and production methods will inevitably end up with lower-quality products.
I concur. Quality has no geography restrictions
The issue with China's quality is the culture of stealing, cutting corners, and lack of accountability. Without oversight from a reputable company, Chinese products self destruct in a race to the bottom.
I really dont feel like quality is something that is worried about with chinese products anymore. What is of concern is the quality of life and how the worker is compensated in china. Since its basically impossible to confirm what standards exist within chinese factories many just want to avoid Chinese products all together.
Ive criticized companies before and some no longer work with me. Keep doing what you do marine x. A company should be able to weather the negative and grow and adapt.
Yes weakest jaw in the business. Especially if they do not want to work with someone who might give them a bad review or be negative. This means they don't want to grow as a company or make better products. So if they want to act this way I have no issues no longer wanting and using their products much in the same way I have stopped and no longer promote Brand.

Normally if I hear anything negative about a company, especially if it's from a reviewer I trust I will normally stop buying from that company. There's so many great companies out there to choose from.

Great video dude, the 3-4 pens I’ve had over the years were returned, but not because of their lack of quality, I just hope they learn from this or they’re at least seeking advice from other creators to help themselves grow going forward.

I know that was an employee of the company. But still that employee represents the company as a whole. The way that employee or employees handled that was very unprofessional. Which in away will definitely put a bad taste in people’s mouths about the company as a whole. Like my mom always told me growing up, yes you are a separate individual. But you share are last name so you represent the family as a whole.

The big idea design tpt slide is really good! ❤It is a staple for my EDC! It is the one tool that I can’t live without. The tpt slide is good design, good quality, work well, and discrete.
Big idea design has the worst most over hyped gear I have ever purchased. I got in early with the version one of their TPT slide on Kickstarter. I’ve never had a more poorly designed tool. It dulls the razor blade, their fork was bad enough to be a meme, it had no way to keep from falling out of your pocket and the blade was awkward to deploy. Pure marketing hype.

I don’t know about this particular situation but there is a good possibility that Big Idea has no knowledge of that interaction. In all probability, you were dealing with the employee of a third party company contracted by Big Idea to handle their social media engagement. Some of these third party companies are better than others.
That doesn’t let Big Idea off the hook by any means, because they choose who represents them.
So, if you get no joy through social media, you might try a phone call directly to whatever company you’re dealing with.
Just throwing that out there for general info.

I think it's pretty stupid of them no one is going to like everything a company makes its impossible there are knives from companies that I absolutely love and then another knife from that same company that I wouldn't want if it was given to me so for them to do that is just stupid.
A 20 minute video is evidence that you care about Big Idea Designs business and products. It's just business and they shouldn't let negative reviews and comments adversely affect partnerships with influencers as these when examined for any truth are valuable feedback. Calling them weak, butthurt, or glass jawed probably only going to offend them.
