In Living Color | Fire Marshall Bill (Home Safety)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 дек 2014
- Fire Marshal Bill Burns - Jim Carrey portrayed a crazed, masochistic (and supposedly immortal) fire marshal with a manic grin and laugh along with a scarred face whose safety advisories usually include demonstrating (on himself) the very disaster he's warning against. (Every sketch illustrates a timeline of readily-visible damage on Bill from previous episodes). Usually, the warnings are against ridiculous situations that would never come to pass, such as an alien crab-people invasion, a sex doll that was accidentally inflated with hydrogen instead of air which then exploded due to static electricity, or an outbreak of psychotic elves. Every sketch ends with Fire Marshal Bill blowing up the facility he's teaching at, to which the people involved look at the burning facility and either lament what will become of them or simply stare in shock while Fire Marshal Bill says a witty comment and (sometimes) leaves to do more "safety advisories". Despite each sketch showing him lose parts of his body (in one sketch, only his head remained), Bill never dies. In about half the sketches, he gave his full name as Fire Marshal Bill Burns. In one episode when on a cruise, he had a blonde wife named Ashley (a play on the term ash) who also was seemingly immune to the damage Bill caused. Her face was similarly scarred like Bill's was and she was a party to his demonstrations (spreading gasoline in a life raft to prove Bill's point about the danger of flare guns). His catchphrases included "Lemme show ya something!!", "Don't worry folks, I'm a Fire Marshal!" and "It can be very, very DTUHHH-DTUHHH ... DEADLY!"
In Living Color was an American sketch comedy television series that originally ran on the Fox Network from April 15, 1990, to May 19, 1994. Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote and starred in the program.

Jim Carrey's physical performance as Fire Marshall Bill was nothing short of phenomenal. It's arguably one of the best skits from In Living Color.
Why hasn't this comment got more likes?
@@jedjestat1630 Maybe because he's a lunatic SJW now who hates capitalism after having benefited from it. I could be wrong.

JAMES CARREY MY BAD JIM CARREY( O WE KNEW JAMES LOL.) WAS TO FUNNY ON IN LIVING COLOR. KNEW HE WAS GONNA BE GREAT
Jim needs to be in a horror movie. Truly terrifying stuff right here
How about a Horror Comedy where he is Fire Marshall Bill? Everyone survives, but they lament everything.
The movie is called 23. Not so much hack and slash horror. But still a ok movie.
He was pretty scary in The Cable Guy (1996). Lol.

Fire Marshall Bill is single handedly the most terrifying and hilarious immortal being to walk the planet. I want to run away from him in fear as much as I want to stay and see what he does next.
He is Dead Pool for on living color.
I've missed this episode of In Living Color. Now the Cable Guy doesn't seem so weird.

Ahh the 80's and 90's ---- real talent and classic entertainment. I really miss those days!
And sport…
I agree 💯
Me too!!!
In Living Color missed the 80's
Everything is racist
Fire Marshall Bill was a dam lunatic, but I have to give him credit for pointing out actual fire hazards before he screwed up what he was attempting to prevent.
He really pointed out how they could potentially burn down their house by accident and carelessness
Exactly
The trick is not to panic.
Fire. Is. Your. Friend.
Well he is a *Fire* Marshall... so he marshals fires.
i remember watching this as a kid. I’ve always made sure to not sneeze near my stove whilst holding a match in case a meteorite comes flying thru my kitchen window. No incidents yet. Thanks Fire Marshall Bill!!
I'm sorry to have to tell you this but it's only a matter of time before that meteorite comes through your window.

So many talented people from this show! I miss the 90s!
It’s easy when you can make fun of anyone. True comedy genius requires a more creative approach.
FMB would find a way to burn down the ocean, from the deepest part... "Hey, Aquaman. Lemme showyasumthin!" 🤣

@@stantheman6766 oh, do you mean Jim Carrey ?
That kid was destined for greatness!
The audience reaction at 0:27 is priceless, they've never seen anything like this before...
You know even though fire marshal Bill engages in extreme measures, to the point of scorching his hair bald, electrocuting himself , burning his bare hand on an oven, letting his fingers catch on literal fire, he kicks some knowledge and legitimate information about fire safety, that I remember being taught in school. Jim Carrey has played some versatile characters. The entire cast actually.
He can make a movie all by himself
Jim Carrey was a damn fool I would be laughing so hard at this guy I would have tears rolling down my face
How the hell is Jim Carrey doing that with his neck?

Um ok jim is in my top 5 but Robin Williams more than compares, he outshined Carrey.

I always thought that he should have made a movie with this character. I think that this was his funniest best character over the years!
And the female gymnast. To great skits
They considered it but Jim Carrey said that it would have been impossible because his face would have fallen off. I get it, I get cramps just from looking at him!
They would have ruined it. Some skits are best in short doses.
@@mellowyello1478 good burger comes to mind.
Jim spoke about it on a Marc Maron podcast and said they had considered it but he eventually used a lot of the mannerisms to create Ace Ventura.

My wife and I never missed an episode. We loved Fire Marshall Bill Burns and Homey the clown.
Can you imagine if Fire Marshall Bill and Homey The Clown were in a skit together? What do you think would have happened?
This is way funnier than SNL. Mad tv was really funny too.
I don't understand why SNL is still on. It must be on financial life support from the DNC. Same for CNN now that I think about it.
I never watched this but Mad tv was hilarious. I'm near canada. That's where comedians come from.
@@joeschmoe6021 what the fuck are you talking about. Stop trying to politicize a comment with your dumbass hot takes
Except for SNL's first two seasons with the ORIGINAL "Not-Ready-For-Prime-Time-Players": John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Gilda Ratner, and Garrett Morris.
But yeah, "In Living Color" was a great show, nevertheless.
The last good SNL skit was Adam Driver in "Undercover Boss" as Kylo Ren as Technician Randy.
Let's just say it's after dinner, u got a fork in ur hand, somebody says hey look a gaggle of geese, where where?

In Living Color was my jam in the 90s! To me, this is Saturday Night Live for African American people! Highly, HIGHLY hilarious, especially with Fire Marshall Bill seen here, and Homey D. Clown. Loved the shit out of it a LOT!
Homin don’t play that shit.
Fire marshal Bill was one of the best things he created! I'd love to see him doing it in a movie. They never let him be himself.
Technically, Fire Marshall Bill has been in a movie. In the movie “Liar Liar” at the airport when the police and firefighters arrive at night, you can see in the background Fire Marshall Bill on a walkie talkie wearing sunglasses. Jim Carrey decided to have this little cameo in the movie.
Fire Marshall Bill Burns : my favorite In Living Color character, EVER!!!
My second favorite sketch, topped only by his Vanilla Ice "White, White Baby."

“Hey! Neighbors! Is that a wood shingle roof up there?” *pulls out blowtorch “let me show ya something!”
Back memories when i was just 12 and couldn't stop laughing for hours..thanks to this show my child hood was nice..
When the devastated family is looking at their burning home, I was expecting the Fire Marshal to emerge like the Terminator, but this works too. Also, I was wondering why he looked so weird and deformed at the start, then it gradually became increaseingly clear.
What makes Jim Carrey's character funnier is how he angered fire prevention groups with skits like these, but at least cops congratulated him, the reason being is that after years of cops being ridiculed, the firemen were finally getting it!
Wayans and Carey are and always be legendary comedians. Thanks.
This might be my favorite one because he brought instant destruction and caught these peoples house on fire (usually the first steps are a little smaller than instant fire) and instead of screaming what is wrong with you how are you a fire fighter the daughter is concerned about his hand lmao. Plenty of times the writing has the people being very mad or uncomfortable and upset about the situation. The writing to make this family allow him to carry on without really chastizing him is classic.
He's not only a FIREFIGHTER.... He's a FIRE MARSHALL(Chief Firefighter. How this Walking Fire Hazard got to be a CHIEF FIREFIGHTER is beyond me! O O LMAO! :D
I remember watching "In Living Colors" on FOX back in 1990-1991 at 8:00pm Pacific Sundays, Followed by "Married With Children" at 9:00pm. Good TV.
Carrey said in an interview that he could only contort his face like this for less than a minute before his facial muscles gave out. Needless to say, there were many breaks (literally) in a single skit to allow his muscles to rest.
We know what happens when Stanley Ipkiss puts on the mask.
Now, what about fire marshal Bill?
😂I would love to see that!
This whole planet would EXPLODE! LOL
No please no. Whoo Whee Whoop.
One of the funniest characters ever - and here is the reason why ...
LEMME SHOW YOU SOMETHN’!!!
This dude is a genius, he must come back on tv shows, he must!!!!
dam those were the days
Jim Carrey manages to pull off something here that is very difficult to achieve. Be absolutely terrifying, yet downright hilarious at the same time. In terms of physical comedy, he is a genius. Certainly in his era, Rowan Atkinson is the only one I can think of who can match him at that.
Robin Williams had similar crazy energy
"Hey look a gaggle of geese WHERE? WHERE?" Lmao!!
Kids today don't know the fire hazards we used to live with.
Always in fear of a fire, thank you for your service Fire Marshal Bill 🔥🧯👨🚒
This was when Jim Carrey peaked.
You must know nothing about Jim Carrey then.
This show was in the early 90s & Jim Carrey really didn’t find true Stardom until the mid 90s with SNL, Batman . And everything else he was in DURING the 90s after this show was canceled in 94’ then he went to peak with dumber and dumber , ace Ventura and the Truman show soo yeah.
Nah, that was Cable Guy
Carrey tried out for SNL in 1980, but he wasn't chosen. In Living Color made him famous. He didn't host SNL until 1996. He was already a famous star when he played the Riddler in Batman Forever.
Wayne Minana true.
Just saying at the peak of his career was not living color, it would in my Opinion be when he starred in dumb and dumber and Ace Ventura.
