Nice, but can/could they also do this LIVE equally well? How does this compare to this ruclips.net/video/IJb3xwtpmmc/видео.html or this live version ruclips.net/video/45brzDJKZ3o/видео.html

If I were to choose the greatest Symphony X song it has to be The Divine Wings of Tragedy.

    • @chilepeulla
      @chilepeulla 5 лет назад +5

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that Michael Romeo composed all the music of the Odyssey by himself using protools. The intro of this song is one of the most epic things I’ve ever heard.

Seen the Odyssey live, twice, both times the encore song. They can do it in their sleep.

Ignacio Menares. #Painintheask, yes, yes, yes, my favorite Symphony X song - brilliant vocal performance by Russel Allen.
p.s. I'm with you Rich, many of Symphony X's mellower passages are very Kansas-esk, vocal tones are very similar.

No better way to wake up with the notification that you guys experienced this band for the first time. This song was actually based upon the story of Troy, you know with the Trojan Horse? The funny thing is when you said this is a setup, a big setup... You were just about accurate as that's about the point in the song and story where they used the Trojan horse to gain entry.
Also that part where you mention the guitar lick, was actually bass. In my opinion these guys are also virtuosos like Dream Theater in their own element. These guys also have a repertoire of styles that you can mess with. Most of Symphony X's early style is Neo Classical, Michael Romeo, the lead guitarist usually adds little touches of symphony pieces in his guitar work and other elements of their songs. I think Kel would love these when hearing them come up. Modern Symphony X in my opinion is just in and after the Odyssey album and it's a lot heavier but still technical and raw. I really think you'd like digging more in to this band and support whatever you guys like to hear by these guys, even the epic fan CD rarity Star Wars Suite.
I see you know each other's sweet spots and it's funny when you guys know it's coming and you look at each other while the other has eyes closed. Is almost on queue lol. You guys keep enjoying yourselves and I hope you guys can continue to heal from your heart break.

We are absolutely having such a great time working on this together every day and it has quickly become the highlight of our day.
When we started 12 days ago it was with no intention except to throw some reaction videos up.... we did not expect, nor could we have possibly imaged what an amazing outcome it would produce.
We are continually awed, warmed and inspired by the high level of intelligence, thoughtfulness, kindness, compassion and love shown by all of you - ultimately complete strangers.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being you and being here with us.

I just spent my lunch break watching this. Half an hour has rarely gone so quickly. I love this song. I've seen Symphony X five times so far and never seen them play it live. I'm really hoping that will change in June when I see them again. If you get the chance, have a listen to some of their other stuff, like Communion and the Oracle, Set the World On Fire, Nevermore or such like. Russell Allen's voice is amazing.
Really hope you'll go back to Rush at some point and do Cygnus X-1 Books I and II. And Riverside (Second Life Syndrome or Left Out or Escalator Shrine). Would really love to see more reaction channels check out Cellar Darling, too (Six Days or Insomnia or Death).
Guess I should get back to work now . . .

hahaha I saw that sneaky few comments for #Metalheadchick by the guys. nice attempt though! :p
I did one yesterday for one of my favorite fellow Nightwish Fans, Ann Waychoff. We share a favorite Nightwish song called Song Of Myself. I love both the album and live with Floor, but the album version is with Anette, and has a lovely verse at the end that the live does not feature (understandably so) which comes from their movie, Imaginaerum. For me personally the song came at a rough time for me and became my soul song. I had just lost my parents when I first finally listened to the album and saw the film (it had sat on my mom's nightstand for weeks before I finally opened it up. it was her last gift to me before she died and we shared a love for Nightwish, which is partially why I love them so much more now.)
I have to say I've only followed since the Ghost Love Score reaction, but I adore you both a lot already. Im usually really a lurker. I only religiously watch another channel or two, and now I've started to do my daily RUclips prowl where I go to your channel and watch everything at once like I do with the other channels I watch. you guys hit my top 2 already :O
I'd love to get in contact with you guys regarding a token of appreciation I am working on, I've done such a thing in the past with others just because it's fun, if you could email me @ decembyr1221@gmail.com unless we add one another as friends here via RUclips we could chat, I believe. Ihave other SM too that would allow us to speak further :) thanks for being awesome! I'm so glad I get to be here to watch this channel grow so fast in just a matter of days! And I always try to remind people to stay true to themselves and dont burn yourselves out. we (at least me) are here for the long haul, friends!

In addition to seeing their reaction to such incredible music, I have to say I love watching how they interact with each other as a couple. Rich is so invested in the music, and the way Kel is there with him every step of the way. She looks at Rich with an unbelievable tenderness and love - that is rare gift. I wish I could listen to music with my girl like this - but we just aren't aligned in our tastes the way this couple is. Amazing couple.

Another request for Haken--Falling Back to Earth. I know Kel has particulars with the use of dissonance, and this song uses and handles dissonance so well, I think you'll thoroughly enjoy it. The 3rd section has melodies that are other-worldly, and use dissonance as sort of ghost-note(s) that just kills!

This is my first video I've seen from you two. Great song choice, been spinning SX in my playlist for many years. It's nice to see two people who appreciate art like this. SX has so many good songs. If I had to pick one for ya... I would go with "The Edge of Forever" from their second album, the first with Russell Allen behind the mic.
As for a song similar in scope to this, Dream Theater's "A Change of Seasons" is a must listen. Their performance in New York (2000), while not as polished as the studio version, has the added benefit of being able to see them play it and that's worth more than a better sound.
After typing that I looked at your past videos and see now that you have already heard that one. Well then, I'll suggest something different. Seventh Wonder "The Great Escape". A 30 minute epic with perhaps the best voice in metal, Tommy Karevik. Oh, and if you do check this song out there's a lyric video which helps to explain the story. It's well done.

Bryan T thank you so much for taking the time to send in such wonderful comments.
      Yes
      Yes
And yes, we want to experience it all and we will in time. There are no bad requests from any of you so bring it, brother. 😉
We spend about 10-12 hours prepping and recording right now and we do about 8-12 reactions a day to try to keep up with the landslide of requests and comments. Our channel is only 12 days old and so we are having to create systems to manage it, but...
      We
      Love
      It
And so we are inspired and motivated to do as much as we can to increase the experience for all of you and for us.
If you would like to have a song reacted to here is the sneaky route....
Send Rich a message through the channel messages that looks like this:
      #PainInTheAsk Band name, song title
I might also recommend sending that once a day until your wish has been granted 😉 . Persistence and patience pay off.
Hopefully that helps. Thanks again for your comments and for playing along with us here in #MetalLand!

Just in case you’re not aware, this song is based on Homerus’s work “the Odyssey” (2nd part of the Iliad and the Odyssey epic). These are the events that occurred after the Achaean (Greek) war on Troy (11 years siege) with Ulysses the King of Ithaca (who designed the Trojan Horse) who angered Poseidon and for that got lost at sea for 9 years with his men and faced several struggles and obstacles.. cheers

You need to see the movie, then the song has more meaning when you listen to it. This story by Homer is incredible and how Michael Romeo wrote this song and the intricate arrangements that create so much emotion should convince anyone who understands music that he's truly a prodigy.

Thanx guys, yeah lookin back i think the art is shitty now, but the logo still holds up...lol... i'm good friends with those guys, original bassist Thomas Miller used to hang with him alot during the writings of the earlier stuff, lost touch with them more when he left the band but i still talk to them here and there... i have some cool news but i have to keep it secret, just to tease, but you're gonna love this shit...lol

Please do When All Is Lost by Symphony X!
A cool moment with this song. Went to a Symphony X concert and two headlining bands canceled on them. They said they had extra time and ended up playing this song (which my understanding is they rarely do live). Was so cool....

Thanks guys. It just made sense to me and i guess, all my fellow Symphony X fans in the comment thought the same thing after seeing lots of prog on the channel and a non-trivial amount of symphonic metal, that prog mixed with symphonic metal would be great to your ears. My pain in the ask moment :) Adagio - Niflheim i'll keep requesting it because i know no one else will, and i guess this would be a great b-day request for me but i wont cheat...until november :( . Bit of a diatribe of the reaction channels in general: The fact that you and a lot of other reaction channels choose what they react to based on amount of request, in other words, popularity, makes it that, as you grow in views and subs, the songs you react to become more and more the same as the other channels. Then again, I really cant see a better method of selection then the amount of request :( B-day is one interesting method to stay unique and I applaud you for that. You guys are still good in terms of selection i guess, in the sense that a lot of the songs you reacted to so far arent that popular in the react to rock / metal channels of youtube. Finally and you probably know that but its worth repeating, especially in that context: Popularity doesnt equate to quality ;)

Are you ready for Ayreon yet "Into The Electric Castle ", full album journey thru history and space a true space opera. But maybe a better start would be Spocks Beard epic concept "Snow". Again not to harp on you, Ark "Missing You" on the Burn The Sun album, great friggin song and band. So much great music so little time.

Please check out the album First Utterance by Comus (1971). Progressive rock/folk that influenced a lot of the progressive metal bands that came later. Still not well known enough. If you want something completely different to listen to that will blow your minds, this is it. Or how about some Frank Zappa (some good introductory places are the albums Apostrophe and Hot Rats). Or if we are sticking to metal, maybe Agalloch - In The Shadow of our Pale Companion.

i explain to you why the minute 10:03 - 11:08 ,in my opinion is the best in the band's history, and the mister in video seemed to enjoy.
it starts with keys you can find this intro of keyboard sound in a lot of their songs, then after a typical SymphonyX prog pattern enters Allen with his voice melodic but bruttal enough, while Mike Romeo create this unbelievable genius progressive riff and the keyboards behind listen carefull the sound is mysterius and Romeo continue his riffs, next Allen come up with typical Queen vocal-echoes and the part finish with a prog pattern based on the keys
