    Ahhhhh, Frankfurt Am Main...
My first assignment in the military (1975), where I returned to work in V Corps HQ years later (1989), and where my oldest daughter got married in 1997 (Standesamt im Romerplatz)...
    Lots of moments...
Our house is outside Frankfurt between Hanau and Frankfurt...
Many good times in Bad Vilbel (nearby heading out from 97th General Hospital) where there were housing areas for officers and where my wife is from...
    Memories...
Enjoy and nice to see the weather cooperating too...
Good to get together with the kids...What a trip you two are having!
    🙏🙏🙏

In your title for this vlog, you say that this is the first time that you have been with your two oldest sons together in 6 years, however Joe, I only saw one of your sons from Hanau, so I guess that your other son is camera shy or perhaps there is a part 2. Anyway Frankfurt looks an amazing city and it was good to see that not all the historic buildings had been destroyed by Allied Bombing Raids in WWll, which only left around 30,000 buildings intact out of 116,000. I believe that some of the historic buildings were restored or completely rebuilt. The pile of rubble from the bombed buildings was not cleared and recycled until the early 1960s. I love all the squares there and the area with all the beer vendors and long tables, with the Traditional German Oom-pah band playing. All very Germanic. So glad that Gift managed to find a Starbucks for her chocolate. If this was recorded on Thursday, the holiday would have been for Ascension Day, a Christian holy day, (called Christi Himmelfahrt in Germany) which would account for the lovely church bells ringing. Thanks for the great tour of the city, God bless you and keep you safe throughout your exciting expedition. 😀❤🙏

Great video Joe. I was also a soldier stationed in Bad Kissingen from 1985 to 1987. I have fond memories of my time there. I’ve been back a couple of times and with the Kaserne closed after the Cold War and all my army buddies gone, it felt weird. Nonetheless, the good memories remain and I love Germany. You have a wonderful family and I love how Gift and your ex-wife get along so well.

Hello Gift & Joe Was stationed in Frankfurt am Main 1970-71 3rd Armored Division Drake Kaserne. Found the German people during that time were friendlier towards US soldiers in the countryside than the city. Started my military assignment in Nurenberg TDY during the Reforger 1 joint exercise between the US and German military forces. Took the Rhine River cruise and toured Nuremberg, Hanau and Munich for the Octoberfest '71 before the 1972 Olympics incident. It was a wonderful and memorable experience for me. The DM currency exchange rate was 3.44 to 4 to the US Dollar.
