The award-winning musical Hadestown has confirmed the cast for the West End production. Hadestown will begin performances on 10 February 2024 at the Lyric Theatre.
Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time) and Grace Hodgett Young (Sunset Boulevard) will star as the ill-fated lovers Orpheus and Eurydice, with Zachary James (The Addams Family) as Hades, Melanie La Barrie (& Juliet) as Hermes, and Gloria Onitiri (Cinderella) as Persephone.
Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne, and Allie Daniel will play the Fates, and Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Beth Hinton-Lever, Waylon Jacobs, and Christopher Short will play the Workers, alongside swings Lucinda Buckley, Ryesha Higgs, Miriam Nyarko, and Simon Oskarsson.
Hadestown made its world premiere at the National Theatre in 2018. It returns to London after winning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album for the Broadway production.
Hadestown features music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning Anaïs Mitchell, with direction by Rachel Chavkin. The creative team also includes David Neumann (choreography), Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Michael Krass (costume design), Bradley King (lighting design), Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz (sound design), Liam Robinson (music supervision and vocal arrangements), Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose (arrangements and orchestrations), and Ken Cerniglia (dramaturgy).

Inspired by the Greek myth, Hadestown takes you on a journey to the Underworld set to a fusion of New Orleans jazz and American folk music. This epic retelling intertwines the love stories between Orpheus and Eurydice with that of King Hades and his wife, Persephone

Her intensity and investment in the language in the verse at 2:00, especially the way she builds to "stuff your mouth with cotton" is such a brilliant choice.

Before I heard Melanie sing any Hermes, knowing her from &Juliet, I knew she'd soud awesome. also loving how the slight cork accent drops in when Dónal belts. nice change after just hearing Reeve's very clean singign fro the broadway recording.
Say them live and they were INCREDIBLE. They must get a cast recording
Was lucky enough to see this live about a month ago and I think the London cast might be an even better way to experience this play than the Broadway. Would love to see an album from them in the style of the Broadway album.
