Balan was such a let down. I played the demo and that's all I needed to tell me that it was a soulless husk. It had the initial charm, with the Balan character, but everything else is way too childish, way too simplified. It just wasn't good.
I remember working at Game Crazy when this game came out and we were allowed to let customers sample the games and I always had this game in the hub world on blast. Hearing this brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me of a time that was great in my life, unlike now with the current times where my depression is at an all time high.

This game, along with Boom Blox (and Wii Sports if you wanna get technical), were the first two Wii games we ever had, since I got my pick of two games alongside the Wii. All I knew about the Wii was that there were a lot of games I couldn't play because they were for the Wii and not the GameCube. All I knew about Boom Blox was that it had a neat-looking cover, but it was one of the games I couldn't play because it was for the Wii. And all I knew about NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams was that it was a Wii game I had seen a commercial for before, and the idea of a game about dreams seemed fascinating to me. I didn't know anything about the Wii's motion controls, or the multitude of features it came with, or how much of a masterpiece this game was. Suffice to say, my mind was blown in the best way I could imagine.

I've never played NiGHTS before or even heard of it until a few weeks ago, but I heard this music in a video essay on the game (Idk why I was watching it but it was such a good video) and just fell in love with it. It's so calming and peaceful and really puts my mind at ease. The music has this lovely, nostalgic sound that a lot of older 2000s era games had that makes me feel so happy, and I'm thrilled to have found it! Also sidenote, NiGHTS as a character is absolutely adorable! I love his design and his little horns and happy face are so cute! Truly inspired game design that makes me want to play it one day, good job Sega!

This reminds me of that one unique song that an anime fusing two genres together would throw in. This song sounds like it would be played at the end of an episode or its ending credits. Like one of those more deeper and sentimental kind of ending credits that shows a bit of the background of one or more character. Be it a relationship of sorts, emotions, mental state, or the past. For how sentimental and nostalgic this song sounds, it also reminds me of those ending cards at the end of a Cowboy Bebop episode. Like the “See You Space Cowboy” line and the “You’re gonna carry that weight” line. Last but not least, it also reminds me of Beneath the Mask from Persona 5 and the classic Adult Swim bumpers.

I never played this game or knew much about the NiGHTS series until this year (2022) when I was playing sonic adventure and saw the NiGHTS pinball and got interested in the NiGHTS game. So I tried to see if there were any I could by near me, and what do you know, a game store 10 minutes away with a used copy for 10 bucks, so I got it, and played it, and didn't play anything else until I beat it, then I just listened to the music for a while. Also, read the comics if you haven't yet!!
I think this one song and one area of the game, was the biggest stand-out of the whole game. I'm thinking of buying a Wii and a copy someday maybe, just to hang out in the dream gate area lol. But Saturn NiGHTS is what's really magical imo, especially Christmas NiGHTS.
Gosh, just the fact that this makes you think of buying a Wii and a copy of NJOD really shows how awesome the NiGHTS style is. There is a magic in these games that can't be replicated, and that's why we need a new game for modern platforms. Even a small downloadable title would make my week. :)

Never played this game. But apparently, I played this mario kart wii hide and seek xenon pack. This song went over a custom track called Daisy Gardens. The track itself was evening and sunset and this song was playing for this track. The track itself and the song sounded so beautiful together that I would play this song if i was in a beautiful garden at sunset
