Dude, Established Titles has been proven to be a scam. A lot of other RUclips creators have dropped them like a hot potato.
Established Titles is a SCAM. There is no land, there is no title. All there is for people to get is a cheaply printed piece of paper and a crappy frame.
MANY channels have already dropped these scumbags when it came out that they're not even delivering the free trees anywhere.
You started talking about burning slabs, that brought back memories of when I was a young boy. We used to go to the sawmill and get slabs for free. We hauled many a truck load in our old 1949 Ford PU back to our home. Where it was my job and my brother's job to cut firewood every afternoon after we got out of school. You see we couldn't afford to buy coal for our furnace, so we cut slabs to heat our old wooden two story house. Lots of firewood cut back then, I can still see us cutting all those slabs up to heat our home.
Can you imagine kids today doing such a thing? I can't, all most want to do is play on their cell phones. A different time for America back many years ago, early 1960's vs 2022. I enjoy watching your videos, thanks greatly.

I watch what you do and it makes me wish I had something like that 40 years ago when I could have done that kind of work. It's amazing seeing how the technology has advanced to make small saw mills even possible. I have been a wood worker most of my life I even taught shop classes. It was always a challenge to get lumber for my students to build projects. Something like the setup you have would have been amazing as an educational tool. Keep the saw dust flying, I wish you success.

I don't know if you have done it or not but the ashes and charcoal would be good additives for your garden the charcoal is wonderfully after a couple of years check into it your garden will love you for it

Life Hack for you Nathan: used cooking oil mixed with about 10% Gasoline makes great fire starter fluid. Cheaper than Propane or Diesel. Hope you had a good Turkey Day ... we sure did over here in the Riviera.

Great video Nathan!! Maybe you can answer a question for me. When you cut that log into 2 - 6" wide sections then dropped one section and cut the first into 1 1/8 thick boards. When finished you bring back the 2nd one and cut it into 1 1/8 thick boards. What is the reason you can't have them both side by side, which would be 12" wide, and cut them into 1 1/8 boards at the same time? Would that not save time? Is it that you might bind the blade? I was just curious. Thanks again for the videos.
Here’s a thought that you might consider. What if you offered up packs of wood to be bought by wood turners like me out of your good pieces of scrap boards you have? It would be a great way for you to make some extra money and you’d be helping out guys like me.
Nathan; I don't have a sawmill so I don't need blades for it but who is this Joe Maine guy and why should I call him??? 😄
On a more serious note, when you're cutting boards, say 2x6's and you've just cut two 6" cants, you drop one onto the log lifter then cut your lumber from the cant remaining on the mill, reload the previously dropped cant and then cut it. Why not just cut both cants at the same time?
Belated happy Thanksgiving Nathan, may I make a suggestion? Logs you said you could not do much with? How about saw them into 4x4s or whatever to stack good logs on top of (like the maple you lost) keep stuff up off the ground, might take a few extra minutes at unloading time with your tractor/grapple but what if that had been a curly maple? Worth?? Just a thought. Tyler

After Nathan explained why he was cutting off two feet from log I thought, "Why not save time and chain saw it off before milling?". Then, when he milled first I thought, "I get it, now he has some 1"X6" X 24" shorties he can surely use for something". Then he burns them...

You do waste a far amount of timber it’s part off saw milling but we forget how much wood save in the process

Hi Nathan!! Great video as always! Question - Couldn't you cut the boards at 10 feet and then cut the extra 24 inches off and use the 24" pieces as shelving or some other small project?

Hi Nathan, it looks like during the 'time lapse' @ 10:55 - 11:05 the whole bed of the mill is lifting opposite the operator, does this cause any issues with accuracy of cut lumber?? Just curious. Thanks for all the videos, I Love watching the cutting, very relaxing for some reason.

Yes you do burn some bowl turning wood but I bet it would be a pain to try to save it. it would be cost prohibitive to save it.

Nathan, every time I see you burning the waist wood I think there must be someone in your area that needs wood for heat. A local church could be a happy middle-go-between to help people in need. Just a thought.

2. Did I see that right in this video? Were you able to drop the log right next to the sawmill ? Did not know there was enough roof clearance to get the tractor in there.

I have 2 questions for you today. Sorry, but I watched the videos out of order. The first question is can you stop the kiln during the process and add more wood or is it best to just let that batch run its course and finish? I'm not talking about putting green wood in with like 12% wood. I'm talking about wood that is close to the same moisture content. I saw the video where you put more lumber on top of the stack before the one where you just started, sorry. The second question is what is the minimum diameter log you will saw on the mill? I am sure the mill has a minimum. Do you stick to that minimum or do you have another figure in your head? I am a big proponent for safety.

Nathan, you may have already done a video on this, but I don't think I've ever seen you set up and control the mill, is the new mill automated or do you have to adjust to the thickness you want on every cut? Maybe a couple minutes detailing and seeing you run it from the operators station would make a good video
It does seem like a real waste by burning the logs. Could have been used for fire wood.
He can't get anyone to even come get it for free. If you burned wood for heat, you would not want knotty evergreens chunks or rotted maple - it's a waste of time.
If you had a finger joint machine you could save a lot of lumber. Just spitballing here.
The machinery cost and labor required would make a small production operation like this unwise. Same with making wood pellets or charcoal, etc.

You absolutely can and some sawyers do that to save time. I believe Nathan has said he prefers to cut them individually to reduce the shimmying and slight offsets that can occur when you hang cut them. There's usually just a single point where the hydraulic ram clamps, so there can be gaps towards the ends that allow movement.
Well, it happens with every channel, eventually a video gets posted that just strikes me the wrong way....this is one of those!
