    I'm 68 Years YOUNG! I have owned Bikes from a 175 up to a 750; I have over 50 Years riding experience. I work part-time to supplement my MEAGER Social Security. I live on the North Oregon Coast, so there are no Freeways around here, LOL! I bought a 2018 GSX250R this past Saturday, and I LIKE the little bike very much.
    I'm using mine as a commuter & basic Transportation. It will save me a FORTUNE on Gas! True, it is NOT a fast Bike, but I didn't buy it for speed. I got the 2018 with 2800 Miles on it for $3000.00. A 2023 after all the Dealer Add-On BULLSQUAT costs right at $6000.00! I got a basically new 250R for HALF the cost.
    Keep the revs at 5K & above, and its a LOT of fun in the Twisty's! It is also VERY predictable in city traffic, and once you learn its throttle response it's fine in traffic.....

    I have always been into the big old four cylinder muscle bikes. What I have realised is that once a bike hits 30 years of age, the original equipment manufacturers discontinue parts on the bike at an alarming rate. The old bikes also develop many technical problems the older they get. What I love about bikes like the Gixxer 150 and 250 and all the 150cc to 300cc modern bikes is that they are extremely popular, easy to ride and easy and cheap to maintain.

    I sat on the CBR 300 and the Ninja 400. On BOTH of those Bikes, I was too far forward, and the low handlebars were PAINFUL for me. I'm 6'2 with a 31 inch inseam. I tried the Yamaha 300 and it was marginally better than the Honda & Kawasaki. The Little Suzuki fits my frame MUCH Better. Also, at 68 Years of age, I don't NEED a Crotch Rocket.
    At the risk of self Denigration, this Suzuki is a VERY good option for a Senior Citizen who still enjoys riding a Motorcycle. Plus I got a 2018 with very LOW Miles for $3000.00....

      I agree i am 52 i brought one of these new a couple of years back and absolutely loved so was sad to sell it as was moving house .I just brought another one this week with 1800 miles on the clock .If i want to ride fast i take my gsxs1000gt out instead .The 250 does nearly 80mpg and is cheap to insure too

    Seems like a nice guy, but he kept saying he was struggling to keep up but I didn't see the group just walk away from him? He pins throttle for 1 second and says its underpowered? Its a beginner bike, right? This is why new riders end up on 600cc bikes and get into trouble. Besides, its the age old question: would you rather drive a slow car fast or a fast car slow? Does that apply to motorcycles too?

    • @lilium-orchid
      @lilium-orchid Месяц назад

      The group seems to be accelerating up to around speed limit, they're not going fast, which is try he only pins it for a second. You can still clearly tell it's much less powerful than the rest.

    I brought one back in 2019 brand new and really enjoyed it done 2.5k on it had to sell it as was moving house got £2500 for it 2 years ago.I just went and and brought another one with 1800 miles and 1k in extras fitted for £2750 .Yes it's not the quickest bike I have owned but it's great fun and does great mpg commuting to work and back

    I don't think the GSX250R was build with the US market in mind. In Japan, there is a low cc category up to 250cc, then a mid cc category up to 400cc and then high cc category above 400cc. In Japan you have to do and pay mandatory inspection for bikes above 250cc, which is the reason most volume sales are in that low cc category. Suzuki can't effort to develop/build another low cc sport bike that competes on the world market like the Ninja 400 (see, 400cc to fit Japanese regulations), or the CBR400/500R. I own and ride a GSR250 (almost same engine) and it's a lot of fun, but the speed limit is way lower here in Japan. City is 40mph max, and highway is 60-75mph max. In this environment the GSX250R has no issues, and is able to quite easily overtake 4 wheelers. Also way cheaper than the competition. If you like the engine sound, the looks and don't need to ride fast to have fun or can't due to speed limits, then the GSX250R might not be bad pick.

    Another way to look at this bike is to compare it to another class of beginner bikes. The 10 horsepower $3,800 Grom and the $4,350 Monkey. This 250 offers so much more for just $750 extra.

    I dunno why they can’t make it at least 300cc. I like how smooth it shifts too but it’s a little big and heavy for my 5”4 frame. I’m better off with a r3 or lowering a 400 a little.

    Suzuki has been dropping the ball so badly. This thing competes directly with a 2008 ninja 250 but costs the same as a Ninja 400 and Z400 that are literally some of the most fun bikes of all time. Just wild.

    I have this bike currently and he was right. I was ready for an upgrade like 2 months in. This bike is not worth the $5,000. If you can get a ninja 400 or yamaha r3 or really any other beginner bike then do so. This bike in my opinion is not worth the money. Although I will admit its a great bike to learn on giving all the forgiving factors on the bike, but for someone like me who's definitely going after speed and adrenaline its just not worth the price tag. I wasn't planning on keeping my beginner bike for long but if I would've known how many better options there were than this for the same price I wouldn't have bought it. So if you're a young adult looking into their first bike to build up to a 600 or 1000cc bike then I recommend the ninja 400 or the yamaha r3. Those bikes are phenomenal beginner bikes.

  • @artstar5994
    @artstar5994 10 месяцев назад +38

    They continue to keep making 250cc's thinking they're attracting new riders. Its not the cc's that intimidates new riders, its the fear of crashing. You know what would help with that fear of crashing? Automatic bikes! I truly believe that the complexity of gearing up and gearing down helps with that fear. When are automakers gonna realize that the only people who actually enjoy shifting (cars ,trucks, or motorcycles) are enthusiast. Everybody else (which I believe is about 75% of people) just wanna ride. ITS TIME FOR A NEW APPROACH! Stop doing the same stuff over and over and over again.... Its not working. The cavemen who think switching gears is more manly or cool are almost extinct. Why do you think Maxi scooters are coming up? Because they do everything a motorcycle can do without all the hassle. And hey... You even get a fuel gauge. Who in their right mind doesnt want to know how much fuel is in their tank? EVOLVE!!!!!

    DO NOT BUY THIS MOTORCYCLE!
    I have a 2018. This afternoon, I was on a short ride. I came to a stop, went to put the kickstand down, missed, and the Bike fell over on its left side. The Gearshift Lever got Bent-ALONG With the Shift Shaft that goes through the transmission. Due to Manufactiurer's "Safety" features, Bike will now not start. Upon working the shift lever with my hand, I can HEAR the broken part rattling inside the transmission housing. At $198.00 Per Hour at our local Motorcycle Shop, DO THE MATH! If this is ALL IT TAKES to wreck this Motorcycle it is a huge DO-NOT-BUY!
