Recently read Scott Butterworth’s Washington Post review of the Crescent to New Orleans. High praise indeed. I will be taking the same train in March, 2021. My concern is for the call by Amtrak in the wake of the pandemic to plan the deletion of sleeper cars on all their long distance trains. Listen, they’ve already turned the dining cars into cafe’ cars/employee lounges. Getting rid of the sleeper cars would really be the death knell of these three day a week long distance trains all together. If this is a must, then they need to preserve at least one train of the three running per week with slumber accommodations, decent full menus, and other enticements. Or, why not restore the daily trips and maintain 3 trains per week with full services. C’mon Amtrak give us folks who hate air travel a break!!
This is great. I'll be taking this trip soon and this video has helped me plan what parts of the route I'd like to be awake to experience. Nicely done!
Did the NOLA to Birmingham Run last month as last leg of an around the country trip on Amtrak. look for my "one eye photo guy" youtube account as I'm slowly but surely putting up video of the entire trip. Also the pix of the trip is on macdunlap.smugmug.com
Is everyone ignoring the fact that it passed over the big bayou bridge where that wreck happened
I have coach tickets for next month from Hattiesburg, MS to Atlanta to visit my sister.
Nice video. Got to ride the Crescent for the first time last Thanksgiving. It's quite an experience.
Very nice!

Nice video - would like to see more inside train pics. Typo on Baltimore (should be MD not DE).
It's Baltimore MD, not DE.
