In the episode "Pile M for Murder" he sort of goes through a devil puberty - a tail sprouts and he grows horns, and he starts hearing a voice which leads him to start construction of "Mount Murder". He's existed since the beginning of time yet he has a mother. However, he's never interacted with the Squid Devil and the voice he hears is distinctly NOT the Squid Devil.
