Wardrobe stylist here! I’m glad they let you keep your glasses and in fact, praise them as a genuine part of you. Regularly, glasses are a bit of a problem on set and commercial shoots because of all the reflections they give on camera. All lights on set and even the crew may reflect on them. So unless they are a crucial part of the character we are shooting, we are usually told to avoid them. That will save us time, effort, even renting camera filters, etc BUT you’re totally correct, usually glasses are meant for aesthetic purposes. Models and talents who work in the industry and need them to see properly, usually know this beforehand and have their contacts handy. Plus, the frames may work agains us by giving some shadows on your pretty face. Glasses are commonly seen on “real people” who appear on interviews, documentaries or commercial projects like this one where the client specifically wants to respect the true personality of the talent they’ve chosen (you) to display complete realness, and so, the crew does some homework so everything works smoothly on your shooting.

the princess diary isn't even just the glasses but more about the hair i think (like, the glasses too, but also the fact that her hair was very frizzy). she had curls !! but they straightened her hair and boom she was beautiful. she could've just learned to take care of them and it would've been amazing !! i have glasses and curls, both of them, and when i was little i always dreamed of getting a makeover like her bc of that movie 😞
I wished she got a curly hair glow up with her actually learning to produce her curls/waves since frizziness comes from not allowing the patterns to form but instead they straighten it artificially and that’s kind of a throw off for any girl that had to grow up with curls being told to “maintain” it like our natural hair is not accepted so we have to straighten it to appear good
I have glasses and curly (a bit frizzy) hair and I used to have braces so as much as I do love princess diaries as a film, that glow up scene completely crushed me, knowing that everything they deemed ‘ugly’ and needed changing, was everything that I had. I really appreciate that even though you do have contacts, you still wear your glasses in a majority of your videos 💕
I know I haven't seen what you look like but I hope you know you're a beautiful person! I love that movie too and im so sorry that scene was so crushing for you, I could only imagine.. Sending love!! :)

yes as part of the glasses community i really dont know why wearing glasses makes you a “nerd” or “unpopular” but it think that if you have glasses, then you slay 💗💗 also Congratsss you deserved this recognition!!!! so happyyyy
well it's just been movie shorthand, just like blonde girl who wears makeup and pink has been shorthand for dumb popular bully. it doesn't reflect reality but media shapes perception
This means so much to me genuinely. Seeing this made me realize just how much society associates having glasses with being on the weirder side of things. I just got contacts because I was so tired of being considered ugly and weird and I hate how different everyone is now. Thank you for doing this for all of us 💗
I agree with you but in the princess diaries she didn’t just start wearing contacts. She straightened her extremely curly hair, got contacts, starting wearing makeup, and started dressing better. It wasn’t just taking off her glasses.
I don’t have glasses myself, but I notice these small things. I want to thank you Spencer. For having some common decency in this crazy world. Some people genuinely look better with glasses or they found a pair of glasses taht really suit/flatter them. 🥰☺️ I’m waiting to find me some cute glasses lol.
In princess diaries they actually give her a blowout, and model ready makeup… as well as teach her how to apply it so she can wear it on a day to day basis… she at first hates this painful makeover but is overwhelmed by how beautiful she looks…

People always always in RUclips videos have the nerds wearing glasses, I need glasses to see properly (duh) but like it’s so annoying. On weekends if I’m not going somewhere sometimes I won’t wear my glasses, that’s because of those videos saying nerds wear glasses and glasses make you ugly, but you and your channel honestly make me feel so good about myself, you are my fav RUclipsr ever, you make people feel great about themself and not feel like they are ugly or worthless. Thank you so so much for making me and so many others feel more confident and great abt themselves❤

It’s sad that that’s what people think defines a person. Anyway I am so happy for you and thanks for spreading awareness for glasses girlies!!!❤❤❤
omg this is so true! ive had glasses since 3rd grade and every movie glow up is just them wearing contacts😢 i can not count the amount of times people have told me that i could look so pretty if i just had contacts. my whole life ive been wondering what is so wrong with glasses but now im actually really confident thanks to spencer! ❤❤
Representation is everything!!! I’m a 36 years old female and I’m also a wheelchair user. Growing up I NEVER saw people that looked like me (using a wheelchair) and if I did it was always really fake looking. I applaud you Spenser for sticking to your guns and wearing your glasses.
As someone who has had glasses since they were 5(or 6 idk) I really appreciate this and I also appreciate that they let u wear ur glasses, I hate how all the time people with glasses are considered ‘nerds’ and stuff when they aren’t- like whaa the only reason so many people wear glasses is to see properly and it’s so annoying seeing all these ‘perfect people’ and models not earring glasses being so skinny and everything Spencer I appreciate you so much you are the only reason I have felt good about myself since I was 8-9 ❤❤❤
That was not the only thing that happened. Sure, she didn’t have severe acne but her skin was flawless with Paolo’s treatment. She also got her eyebrows plucked and applied make up on not to mention the most characteristic factor which was her frizzy hair. 🙄 It’s really not all about you
I was thinking the same thing. They did multiple things to her. It took hours. Way to simplify the scene where she was “tortured” and only one second of it involved her glasses.
Sure, but when something you actually like about yourself is lumped in with the "flaws", it can feel pretty discouraging. I also dislike that makeover because they super-straighten Mia's hair instead of defining her curls to get rid of the frizz. I know it was the style in the 2000s, and that's Anne Hathaway's actual hair, but as a kid it made me think I had to flat iron my hair to look nice.
those scenes where girls take off their glasses as part of their glowup are one of the reasons girls with glasses are bullied so bad in school. supporting those scenes supports bullying.
@@kikiblue7169this comment isn’t supporting those scenes, it’s showcasing what actually happened during princess diaries and the more major changes. If Mia had done all the other things and kept her glasses, she still would’ve been beautiful.

I came here to say this exact thing! To me the hair made the glow up waaaaayyyy more than the glasses did.
And come on the eyebrows were a huge part too don’t forget!
@@marceladuarte9146 this comment! I think this was the biggest change tbh
@@marceladuarte9146agreed. This short kinda sounded a lil tone deaf to me
@@marceladuarte9146I always got bullied for my curls… I’m 27 and I still feel so much shame around my hair
She didnt JUST take her glasses off. She literally got a whole make over. They shaped her brows, straightened her frizzy hair and did her makeup.
@@achinthyasriman7339 this is so sweet 🥺
Girl, same boat. I spent most of my life hating my hair.
@@SarmHartSame 😭😭😭, that's exactly why I refuse to straighten my hair now.
Girl, I get you so much, and just remember that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL and society is a really uncomfortable place where everyone tries to put people in boxes, but you are strong if you fight against it💪
As someone who also has glasses and has had braces at the same time, I want you to know that you are not alone, and your glasses and braces don’t shape your personality - your soul does that❤️
STOP YOU'RE SO PRETTY
yes as part of the glasses community i really dont know why wearing glasses makes you a “nerd” or “unpopular” but it think that if you have glasses, then you slay 💗💗 also Congratsss you deserved this recognition!!!! so happyyyy
Ty❤
Thank you sooo much!!
Movies
well it's just been movie shorthand, just like blonde girl who wears makeup and pink has been shorthand for dumb popular bully. it doesn't reflect reality but media shapes perception
@@overgrownkudzu yea i get that but idk why glasses are depicted as unpopular or nerd in movies
It wasn’t just taking off her glasses.
exactly
Girl your stunning with or without glasses 🫶
I don’t have glasses myself, but I notice these small things. I want to thank you Spencer. For having some common decency in this crazy world. I’m so happy that you got noticed and gained a following because you are a major influence on me and past me. I wouldn’t have grown into the person I am today without your support. Thank you. I only wish you the best Spencer!
Spencer is just simply an amazing person.
As a girl who wears glasses and doesn’t want to wear contacts, I love this!😭 it’s comforting in a way to see a model with glasses cause it is possible they just don’t do it. Thank you Spencer ❤
this literally made me so happy and tear up as a glasses wearer🥹this is so cute
I feel like i’m the only person that finds myself more beautiful with glasses. Maybe it’s because i’ve been wearing them for so long but I feel 10x more confident with glasses.
Some people genuinely look better with glasses or they found a pair of glasses taht really suit/flatter them. 🥰☺️ I’m waiting to find me some cute glasses lol.
me too
In princess diaries they actually give her a blowout, and model ready makeup… as well as teach her how to apply it so she can wear it on a day to day basis… she at first hates this painful makeover but is overwhelmed by how beautiful she looks…
She radiates too much positivity❤
Thank you! I have had glasses since second grade and I still have them in highschool and barely ANYBODY still wears them! People keep telling me to wear contacts but personally my glasses make me, me! ❤❤
Same I can’t see anything without my glasses 😂 but I love them. I’m glad we wear glasses. THEYRE AWESOME
you’re such an inspiration spencer! i wear both glasses and contacts so i feel ur pain😭 and my hair is naturally curly/wavy so seeing girls always go from curly hair n glasses to contacts n straight hair isn’t very fun 💀 like i’m literally mia
As someone who has had glasses since I was 6 I'm so happy to see more glasses wearing representation.
As a fellow glasses wearer I love this and I think it’s very needed❤️ ily
i’m so happy for you glad you are in the winter collection
thank you so much Spencer!! As a glasses girl I agree that you don’t really see many models wear glasses. I think it’s great you do 💘
Well they also plucked her eyebrows and fixed her matted hair, and showed her how to do minimal no makeup makeup. Which helped a lot too.
The contact lenses were a bonus.
I'm pretty sure they also pulled braces out no?
just because you have unplucked eyebrows and wear a lot of makeup etc doesn't mean you're ugly tho
@@Mandelkaffee I never called her ugly, I implied that there was work that went into making her “more” attractive. Or showing that she was.
You can be a good looking person but even they can look unattractive if they are unkempt.
And they also did like face care type stuff too I think, like face masks and such
@@tigerstripedsingershe had a retainer, not braces anymore
I’ve also been wearing glasses since grade 3/4 and I would defo want to see more representations of people wearing glasses! So proud of u Spencer!
Thank you I look around at shops and there’s NO models with glasses, so this helps a lot not just letting me know that I’m not the only one with classes, but knowing that it’s not weird to have glasses
I also wear glasses and I feel so happy for you! All the time I think about any career I realise that I've never seen anyone with glasses in there... And it just makes me sad all the time. So happy that you made it though!
WHY ARE YOU SO BEAUTIFUL SPENCER?❤❤
As a glasses girlie I think it’s amazing they let you wear them ❤❤
Thank you Spencer. As someone who needs glasses tho gets bullied for them a lot at school I really needed this. GLASSES ARE GORGEOUSE!!!
as someone who wears glasses, i think that they are honestly so cute on anyone and can really enhance you, even if they are prescription! just know, everyone is beautiful just the way they are and it dosent matter what’s on the outside it’s what’s on the inside and if you are healthy. Stay safe and happy everyone :)
congrats spencer! this means a lot to you, and i'm so happy for all of your accomplishment to make a better generation for us ❤❤❤
You go girl you look so good with or without your glasses I love your content
Glasses are so pretty on you😊❤
I've had glasses since 1st grade!! and they can't make contacts for me, cus my eyesight is so bad. I am really happy you did this!!! It's a great step for glasses people.
I appreciate this so much! I’ve had glasses since kindergarten and when I was younger I didn’t care but now that I’m older it’s so annoying all the stereotypes!
Yess I love this❤
ahhhh i wear glasses and i feel so represented now😭😭❤️❤️
She’s stunning with glasses
This almost had me crying GLASSES ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!
so happy for you spencer!!! ❤❤
I appreciate this as i wear glasses and i get judged for it ❤
HERE FOR THIS!!! Happy for you
This really helps me bc I have struggled so much with my image bc all the girls at my school don’t wear glasses and they are always getting compliments about how pretty they are but when I try to wear contacts and look like them people kinda make fun of me, so thank you so much this made me smile.
As a glasses girly, this really made my day because everywhere I go, the models never have glasses, and at school, people call me 4 eyes but whenever I take off my glasses people think I look weird so like idk what they want me to do about it bc I have had glasses all my life.
I totally agree because I am just sitting here and Luke totally agreeing with every word she said. And by the way congrats on the model thing for Hollister
This made me really happy ❤
As a girl with glasses and not wanting to wear them to school because the pretty girls don’t wear glasses this helps ❤❤ thanks Spencer you ARE amazing!💗💗
I am a girl that wears glasses, and in my humble opinion people generally look wayyyyyyy hotter in glasses. Literally, give a man glasses, instant glow up. (Just my personal opinion)
girl yesss!!i keep getting called four eyed just because i wear glasses and everyone that has said that to someone that wears glasses just be happy we pay money to be able to see u.
I can't tell you how much I love this!!!! Worn glasses since second grade. And now I'm an Optician and get to help people with their eyewear every day!! It's amazing to help people see ❤️ Congratulations!
Tbh one of the prettiest girls in my school wears glasses (TO SEE) and she looks gorgeous with and without them.
As someone who has had glasses since 3rd grade, I am literally so thankful for this💗 I have always felt like such a nerd, just because I have glasses - when it’s literally because MY EYES DONT WORK VERY WELL!
Thank you so much Spencer, you can’t even begin to understand how much better this made me feel❤️
As a glasses girly I approve of this message, FINALLY someone wearing glasses to be seen everywhere!
Thank you spencer! I’ve also had glasses since grade three and I agree with you completely! Thanks for standing up for us glasses girlies!
Glasses are so cute! I find people who wear them so cool
AHHH!! THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!! I’ve been wearing glasses since 3rd grade and I’ve always been insecure about wearing them but I’ve grown to love them so much because it makes me feel like me!!🫶🏻😊 Congratulations!!!!!! It feels so amazing to see more representation!!💗👏
Omg thank you so much for this!! You should start a glasses frame brand it would be soo cute❤
As someone that was so scared to get glasses ans still feels not fully confortable with them, this is so great. Please become an actress and play the main character/ it girl/ popular girl with glasses in some teenie movie!
GIRL THE PHOTOS ARE SO CUTE WHAT
So happy for you! As a person who wears glasses, this is a big win!
This is so overdue!!! As a middle school girl with glasses I’m teased a lot and basically all the people with glasses are considered the “nerds” or the “outcasts”.
I’m so happy for you!
Representation is everything!!! I’m a 36 years old female and I’m also a wheelchair user. Growing up I NEVER saw people that looked like me (using a wheelchair) and if I did it was always really fake looking. I applaud you Spenser for sticking to your guns and wearing your glasses.
As a girl who has worn glasses since age four. Thank you so much
I had to get glasses this year and I still hesitate to wear it outside but you're single-handedly making it better. Thank you❤
As someone who has had glasses since they were 5(or 6 idk) I really appreciate this and I also appreciate that they let u wear ur glasses, I hate how all the time people with glasses are considered ‘nerds’ and stuff when they aren’t- like whaa the only reason so many people wear glasses is to see properly and it’s so annoying seeing all these ‘perfect people’ and models not earring glasses being so skinny and everything Spencer I appreciate you so much you are the only reason I have felt good about myself since I was 8-9 ❤❤❤
That was not the only thing that happened.
Being someone with glasses who has struggled with people thinking they’re fake or not pretty, this video is so relatable. My friend who wears glasses, was taking her picture day photos and the photographer made her take her glasses off because “they didn’t look good on her” she is a gorgeous girl with or without glasses but that was such a cruel thing for the photographer to do. I appreciate Spencer representing the glasses girlies!!!💓🩷
Ummm, do not disrespect Palo like that! He did wonders for Mia's hair 😂
You soo prettyy!!
I really appreciate Hollister doing that! Most photographers will just have you remove them to avoid the effort of dealing with the lights reflecting in the glasses but it's nice to see they're okay being inclusive like this!
Omg as someone who is visually imparted this is so good to hear ❤️🩹
I remember when my friends were trying my glasses on and when I took em off they were like “omg u look so good with our them” and proceeded to give me a hug
I love my glasses tbh. They’re super cute and I feel like they really complete my looks
That is huge! Congratulations!
