Another exemplary history lesson with the youthful historian Teach Dem. Haven't heard the name of the talented General TK in years! Points to remember from this lesson with the Horseman Sassafras. Junior Frass has passed away. Dennis Star used to be a selector before producing. Blacka Morwell, brother of Nicodemus, produced the first first Taxi riddim. This has got to be the part one because he hasn't even gotten to "Poco Jump " as yet!
This is one of the epic interviews. Lord Sassafras was just dropping gems everywhere. This was an history class by itself. We the fans who never went to a dance back in the day, but grew up loving the music can't get enough of these recollections by the veteran Djs. Thank you Teach Dem. Your program is truly original.

Michael Johnson AKA 'Marble', 'Sassafrass', 'Lord Sassafrass". 'Horseman', Gateman'. To me was one of the unsung hero of Jamaica's Dancehall. His lyrics, style & flare was copied & Adopted by a host of DJ's who up to today fails to acknowledge him. Sassa's father used to be a race horse trainer. I remember quite vividly that he had 2 retired horses at his home in Marverley - 'Cape Clear' and 'Photostat'. 'Photostat' went on to win 3 races in row. I use to help him (Sassa) walk those 2 horses after school in the evenings. His father later acquried an 'A' class campaigner names Zephyrus, a Zalucus offspring who he had won quite a few races with. Marble forgot to mention that he use to dabbled a little into singing. So, apart from the dancing group, he use to have a singing group. I was briefly a part of that singing group. One memorable moment with the group was at the annual Christmas fair that use to be held at the Marverley Park at the corner of Molyness Rd. and Westmain Dr. We sang Sattamassagana with me on lead vocals. Yow, it was like we had ignited a FIRE bredda!! By the way - we are 2 first cousins.
