The problem with the "BTS paved the way" statement is not that people deny that BTS did amazing for kpop to begin with, but the way it is used to discredit the efforts of other groups or singers in comparison. BTS paved the way for the recognition of kpop for the current generations, just as the previous generations did for BTS. Let's also give credit to the achievements of the individual idols/groups.

I agree 100 % that you shouldnt assume anybodies sexuality but it is also "assuming" someones sexuality when you call them " straight" . The way the person said that in the video gave the impression that all Kpop idols are open with their sexuality and is not afraid to be their authentic selves. Obviously this RUclipsr has been on the Disney side of Kpop.
P.S : Stop assuming all Kpop fans are delusional , toxic , bullies and have nothing better to do with their lives as you only see the small majority of fans on the internet doing shit like that . The other majority is kind , welcoming , entertaining and intelligent. ❤❤

Why would they invite BTS to tour the rooms, give them gifts and handwritten letters, and show up to that live finale, if that show was sooo popular without them? Not saying it wasn't popular, but BTS is why it was popular, and without Hybe, and therefore BTS, belift wouldn't even exist.

For the clowns trying to deny “BTS paved the way” in these comments: the phrase DOES NOT refer to kpop in South Korea. It refers to kpop globally and always has. It was also created by the media, not by armys.
Whether you like it or not, kpop was NOT well known globally before BTS. It was a niche interest, with an isolated fanbase. No one paved the way for kpop globally besides bts, that’s it.
BTS are the reason kpop albums are now sold in western stores (armys demanded it from target back in 2016), they’re the reason groups have full western promotions and release music at 12am est for billboard tracking, they’re the reason kpop categories exist in award shows, they’re the reason kpop groups submit music for the Grammys. Denying this is just plain disrespectful. Learn what the phrase means before tryna talk shit, thanks!

now come on. rapping is more than talking fast and we know this. bffr. let’s not reduce the art form of my ppl to something so banal. it’s poetry/lyricism - good rapper has a strong sense and use of language and is able to bring a musicality to the speaking words; interesting cadence - ability to use and play with rhythm, timing, flow. if they can do all this plus do it fast when it FITS, then it’s good rapping. just talking fast ain’t it. if that was the case that fast talking guy in the old fedex commercials would be the king of rap.

  • @zarryspaces

For "Paved the Way" here's my opinion.
I love BTS, respect them and definitely agree that they did a lot and contributed a lot for their country, K-Pop and the music industry in general. And to a certain extent, they DID pave the way.
However, there are SOME(NOT ALL) Armys who completely discredit their predecessors and successors. Like yes, we understand that their contributions are HUGE, but that does NOT mean that anything any OTHER group does is an achievement achieved by or because of BTS.
If a group wins an award, then it's not because of BTS, it is because of that groups hardwork and their fans dedication. If a group propels to international success, sure BTS making K-Pop VERY well-known is a reason, but only a tiny part. People listen to a particular group because they like it, NOT because of BTS.
All in all, sure BTS did a LOT for the other groups out there, but they didn't do EVERYTHING for those groups and that should be kept in mind. The other groups' hardwork, talent, music and determination play the MAJOR factor in THEIR success.

kpop was successful before bts, maybe not AS popular and even that, in the west only, but certainly successful - the one thing bts paved the way for is billboard, but other than that if you look at kpop in general from fandom culture (light sticks, concepts/world views, fashion) to album sales to having underground rappers/mixing hip hop into kpop, none of it originated or was popularised by bts… there were many groups before them that still have solid fanbases to this day and were known as phenomenons for a reason 🤷‍♀️ so it makes sense to say they paved some way in terms of western validation and for certain 4th gen groups in particular

But you have to realize K-pop was a niche concept in America. For example, PSY obviously was successful for a short while. He wasn't consistent as bts now in America he is considered a one-hit-wonder. While BTS was consistent over the years. SNSD and Wonder Girls didn't even get the chance to even break though. Also, Bts created a lot of things in K-pop: reacting to their MV, personal twt accounts( not company acc ), opening their albums to fans, trilogy albums, and storylines in all their albums. They also popularized many things as well. If it was for Bts paving the way, ur favs will still be a niche thing that ppl will bully you about. So the pave the way. You gotta be careful watching people. If their jib title relates nothing to what youre looking at, then whats the point of putting it in the title?
Vocla coaches should talk about singing
Musicians should talk about musicality and the instruments
Songwriters and the like should talk about lyrics (even though everyone should)
Video editors should talk about the flow of the video, how shots were made, the visual effects
Dancers should obviously talk about the dance, what the moves express, giving pointers and praise for the members

Some songs just aren’t good and I’m not going to stream songs I don’t like for view count, as if the amount of views even matter! RUclips views doesn’t equal popularity! Same goes for voting, voting is a popularity contest and no longer genuine votes. People will vote for their favourites song regardless if there is a better song that deserves the vote more. Unpopular opinion but that is why multistans are the best fans, we base our votes on the best song and appreciate all groups equally.

I agree with “BTS paved some way” because the logic behind “BTS paved the way” doesn’t work in my opinion. The “paved the way” statement could be used for so many groups in so many different ways. Yes, bts did pave the way for 3rd and 4th gen groups getting western recognition and did a lot for kpop, but Girls’ Generation paved the way for most girl groups even existing. BoA paved the way for kpop in Japan and pretty much saved kpop in general when she saved sm ent from bankruptcy. If you really want to go back, you could say Seo Taiji and Boys paved the way for kpop because they were the first kpop group in general. So saying “BTS paved the way” discredits literally every kpop group and artist that came before and after them and what they did for kpop. (In short, “BTS paved the way” is too general of a statement and discredits literally everyone else in kpop. So “BTS paved some way” works better for what the did)

    • @minacruzel6387
      @minacruzel6387 Год назад +7

I disagree. Being the first at something doesn’t mean you paved the way but being able to change the industry does mean that. BoA did do a lot for Kpop and obviously so did Seo Taji but I wouldn’t necessarily say they paved the way for Kpop like BTS has. BTS pushed Kpop to be relevant outside of Eastern Asia. USA holds the biggest industry for music so even though many other idols have great accomplishments they didn’t make pave the way. ( I’m saying this as a jumping BoA, and a Sone.) without BTS Kpop wouldn’t be acknowledged by westerners. There would be no Kpop category within American award shows and Kpop idols wouldn’t be invited to as many western interviews as they are now. Now it’s almost expected to see idols promoting in US or trying to get on billboard. This wouldn’t have been an achievable dream without BTS making Kpop famous within the west.

In a short opinion, "BTS Paved the Way" should be kept to mean about kpop IN THE WEST and fans who use it otherwise on SNS are wrong. When other fandoms use that statement to talk about kpop achievements IN SOUTH KOREA, then ARMYs shouldn't get mad and gatekeep the statement. It also should NOT be used as a weapon against other fandoms/groups in toxic fanwars. So, yes, "some way" can probably refer to their western-geared path they chose while validating the fact that other groups also paved the way for kpop as a whole.
Kpop is a giant highway with branching roads full of history. One group CANNOT pave that alone and it is extremely ignorant to think that way considering the hundreds of artists who worked their a**es off and the lucky handful who actually CHANGED kpop standards into what they are today.
So to those saying "it refers to the way kpop is viewed in the west", I agree one hundred percent. However, to those using it as some "BTS created kpop" type of fantasy on social media, that's absurd. That's all I have to say on it.

  • @apobangpo_911
    @apobangpo_911 Год назад +3

With the statement " BTS paved the way", many people think that we're saying that they were the first in everything. No they weren't. 2nd gen definitely did contributed a lot but the thing here is, BTS were allowed to be existed because of the fact that 2nd gen existed before them but they didn't did any shit for the other groups to achieve recognition in the west or in the industry itself. Paving the way means creating a wave of opportunities for an industry on a worldwide level. No matter how much iconic and legendary the 2nd gen or some idols were, BTS definitely overdid them in this section. If the other idols paved the way for BTS and much earlier than BTS, why they forgot to pave that way for themselves.
And k-pop categories that we see in these western award shows which were made after BTS were grabbing all the major awards so that the other kpop groups can be nominated too is what paving the way means, not who dyed their hair first.

Everyone before BTS failed hugely, only a small amount of fan's gained from 2nd gen, it was the moment BTS went West Kpop became a topic on Mainstream, everyone after BTS is using BTS fame for their own gain

for bts paving the way, imagine this:
your cousin participated in building a bridge. you and some friends are walking on the bridge. you say that your cousin worked on the bridge. your friends start laughing, saying that's not possible because your cousin had outside help, your cousin didn't make the tools, your cousin didn't make the materials, your cousin didn't make the ground the bridge is on.
explain to me how this isn't equivalent to kpop stans saying "bts didn't invent xyz" when someone says bts paved the way

My take: the 1st and 2nd gen paved the the way for bts in the kpop INDUSTRY, bts paved the way FOR the industry of kpop
Edit: before the comment war I know this is satire as a video, and I’m not saying 1st or 2nd gen of kpop COULDN’T pave the way, I think they didn’t have the OPPORTUNITIES that technology presented BTS that helped them open doors to the world. 🫶🏻💜 please love and be respectful and have a DISCUSSION. NOT A FANWA*

@@_.1BISCUIT._ yes and no. Yes in the world wide phenomenon we know, no in general. Other groups broke through and would have, but we have to ask is how much would they have broken through? I just don’t think anyone else (with the timing and message of bts) would have had the OOMPF of an impact bts did and still has. Totally understand what you’re saying 🫶🏻

@@LilRedWitchtiming? You need to check BTS history before saying this bcz surely BTS were not insta but bigbang was and had liked post hating on BTS,
2nd gen and industry outcasted them so they choose internet bcz they were even thrown out of broadcast in big year of 2019 and make big3 company win , give credit where it's due,
2nd gen make it hard for BTS

@@LilRedWitchyou saying IF bts didn’t other groups would but bts did make kpop more well known and paved the way for others into the western industry. how did 2nd and 1st Ben pave the way for bts (genuine question). I think what ur trying to say is that if 2nd/1st gen wasn’t there then bts would do have become singers, that’s not paving the way.

    • @LilRedWitch

@@ughtae1214 going back to bts’ song come back home: that was an homage to the “original” kpop idol Seo Taiji and Boys in the 90s. What I mean by pave for bts is that kpop wouldn’t have existed as we know it without VERY VERY specific musicians who went against traditional songs and styles to showcase hip hop and other loved genres who, at that time, kpop (as an industry) and the older generation refused to acknowledge.
I implore you look up the influence of Seo Taiji as his story is fascinating as it is similar to bts in a way. Chose a path the industry loathed, but the younger gen adored and supported. Come back home was Seo Taiji’s original bts even performed live with him (idk where the Boys are today my apologies) for the 25th anniversary of the song (believe 25th also please correct if the year is wrong).
I’m saying the oldest gen of idols paved the way in exposing that kpop IS LITERALLY an industry and a corrupt one and many (talking early early kpop), had their careers snuffed out as “punishment” for having the bravery to openly speak out.
I cannot take awake from bts literally paving the way (boracity has a wonder informational video on this phenomenon), and I wanted to also not take away from or put down older groups and idols who simply made kpop into what we know as kpop today.
I hope I clarified everything and my sincerest apologies if it felt I wasn’t giving bts more credit. They earned every credit and I felt it wasn’t needed to be said to other army who already know how insane the accomplishments of bts is and still is.
An ult bts stan, multi stan, some (a lot of old school kpop industries can still have a big ol’ 🤡 because the audacity and Gaul to try and stop bts from succeeding for so long)
I also understand toxic “fans” from outside of bts played a huge role in that wave of hatred, but I don’t think that needs to be said because I believe we all know the sheer ick that has happened (is happening).
Thank you friend have a wonderful day 🙏🏻💜
