  • 10-Ball - The 2022 Derby City Big Foot Challenge came down to this. Two of the top young players in the game today, JOSHUA FILLER AND FEDOR GORST, playing in the finals. German 24 year old Filler, had won the Big Foot event at the 2021 International, as well as just about every other title you can name. Gorst, the 21 year old Russian, had just finished as runner-up at the Turning Stone Classic XXXIV and then won the defended his title at the 2022 Arizona Open.
Mark Wilson and Jeremy Jones called the action for this one.
I'll be in the chatroom. Join me.

Exceptionally so. IMO, one of the best commentators even across all sports. Unlike other sports, more of the audience are players themselves recreationally. Yet JJ explains things in a way that even those unfamiliar with pool won't be lost (such as my partner). He's a significant value-add to any event.

Federer really played better, just a few mistakes at key points in the match that Filler took advantage of. I counted at least 6 rolls by Filler, that lead to him getting out, or getting a more favorable safety. Gorst was at
.929 before the scratch on the break and the failed safety. I'm not in favor of that safety BTW, those never seem to work, you either need to go all out for the shot, or the safety...

These two are pretty much my faves to win any match. When they play one another its always a good one. Fedor and filler have such different styles but are both so impressive and successful. Filler is a fast and loose rhythm player and Gorst is deliberately slow and thoughtful and robotic and it absolutely breaks up fillers pace. I would love to see them play straight pool 150 but it would take Gorst so long lol

Fedor gorst is so freaking young just imagine being that good at that age and knowing that you are already a world champion and that u still haven't played your best pool yet. He has the best fundamentals in the game today. We'll be seeing and hearing about him for decades to come the only person I can think of at that age with that much talent is Ronnie O'Sullivan and that's a strong statement

    • @chili015
      @chili015 2 года назад +2

What about the guy he played in this video? Filler is only a couple of years older (he's 24 at the time of me writing this) and was the World Champion (and US Open Champion) the year before Gorst won his. Filler might be the most naturally gifted pool player since Earl, while Gorst is probably the most fundamentally sound player we've ever seen... meaning, Filler (similar to Ronnie) looks like he was born with a cue in his hand, just enormous natural ability and instincts. Gorst looks like he spent his entire childhood going to pool school learning proper technique and pattern play. They both produce world class pool and have been the 2 best players in the world for 2022. Also, don't count out Kaci from the under-25 group... he's only 23 and the reigning 10-ball World Champion.

Fantastic match fantastic commentary, but Filler's ego shenanigans are flat out cringe as hell, & no its not just "passion".
There are many killers out there w/ loads of passion & excitement, but they also have maturity & respect for the game.

Man that's the thing about Josh.
He finds a gear, any gear, you don't just have to fade his shooting.
I mean Fedors up there ..I'd put Fedor in the top 10.
    Top 10 on the planet.
Anyway, Josh gets a little inside his zone and he can do anything with that cue ball.
And to make matters worse he starts getting lucky too.
That's what really will rub salt in your eye.
I'm a Josh fan I generally pull for Josh I think Pias is a cutie.
I really like them as a couple.
It's the middle of the match. Josh just moved up 7/6 ahead and I know it's far from over but yes I am pulling for Josh. Not that I got money on it but..
There are a handful of guys I oull for.
Josh and Ko ping Chung being 2 of my all time favorites.
If you haven't seen the 2018 international 9 ball open with
Shane V. Boening vs Ko P. Chung..
You need to stop what ya doing cause I'm about to ruin the image and the style that you're use to.
That is the single greatest match I have ever seen , in my life.
    But
    Joshua/Ko ping Chung
    Chang Jung Lin
Those are probably my 3 favorite players.
S.V.B. his game has fallen off a bit but still probably the best in the world.
Albin Ouschan will probably be the best very soon.
    Jayson Shaw
    Dennis Orcollo
    Mario He
    Francisco Ruiz
    Max Lechner
    Carlo Biado
    Alousius Yapp..
James Aranas is another one of my favorites. Guy plays nearly perfect pool and still doesn't win a lot of tournaments..crazy.
    But I really like James.
Lee van Corteza.. another guy that shows up last 5 in most every tournament he plays in.
Look up there in the top 5 finishes you almost always will see Lee vans name.
    Consistently in the money.
And..even though I'm not a big fan I do gotta give props to Fedor.
He is a very good player.
Right up there with the best of the best.
    Like it or not.
    He is an elite player.
    Capable of beating anybody.

I think he was happy he won especially cause he's a rhythm player and Gorst is so slow it breaks that. Also Gorst is one of few players who can beat him on quality this year. Not that Filler can't loose but if he does he usually beats himself.

I skipped the parts when gorst was playing. Watching him is like waiting in a long line.

    Please don't over analyse.
And please remember that anyone watching this caliber of match do not need such precise commentary r

Hush now Donald. I find myself in similar situations and listening on how to hit the ball and the position play is nice to hear and understand for player enthusiast. If you don’t like it just mute it. JJ is one of the best commentators around
