I'm 73 yes old. I've watched this at least 15 times, and I am amazed by her voice, phrasing, and the emotion that she puts into it. I am a musician, and Angelina is my favorite singer.

I must stay that, compared to the three of them, Grace VanderWaal is utterly ordinary. I’ve watched this video dozens of times, and it still amazes me. She is 9 years old, that’s 4th grade. My older sisters tell me that I was still bed wetting at that age, lol. Each time I notice more, how serious she is, how she manages to keep a 6 beat rhythm, how she hits each note perfectly, and that it’s her arrangement. Her growls, squeaks, and raspy vibrato are all note perfect. She holds notes for impossible lengths, and her breath control is stellar. Her frys and melismas, are subtly nuanced. She is truly a special human being, a treasure to be savored.

Yes, they do exist. They're born with a certain experience and knowledge. Sometimes it's a burden. I have a son like that who could write computer programs at the age of four, without ever even seeing one. He can play any instrument and copy flawlessly any tune, first time. He can sing amazingly too.
She really knocked it out of the ball park. After going back to hear what other artist recored or their version, this is by far the best. Angelina is very versatile and this song she shows it. We are lucky we get to hear how she has grown from 7 years old until now. Just what will the next 5, 10, 15 years bring us. Lucky me I am.

Musical genious. Prodigy. You can just see how well she understands the music, the tones and undertones. She melds her voice against the music and becomes one with it and making it a perfect dance mid air, a beautiful union. I have never seen anything so great. Wow. I wish her a long and healthy career.

This seems more than "Child Prodigy” and "Old Soul". This is in the supernatural zone. For goodness sake, she also plays violin, piano, guitar, and flute... Certainly, there are other child singers that are shockingly good for their ages. However, they don't reveal and articulate the meaning, raw visceral emotion, even the physicality of every note and lyric like Angelina does so surprisingly, instinctually and completely. I've no idea how many times I have listened to this clip, but I still get goosebumps every time - this is an EPIC performance! This is one rare occasion where Angelina goes all-out, growls, shrieks and all. All her later performances of this song are much more moderate. Her barely-thirteen version of Dolly Parton's / Whitney Houston's "I have nothing" is one of those no-holds-barred performances you do not see now that she is older and more mature. I read somewhere that some critic commented that she could not do a seriously "belting" song, and that version of "I have nothing" was her "I dare you to say that again" response. Angelina can do any song, any genre, and usually emotionally improve on the original artist performance while still paying respect to them. That in itself is a feat, given the artists she is covering - Whitney Houston, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Etta James, Billie Holiday, you name it.
Her versatility is unmatched by anyone. It helps that she has totally no fear which allows her to venture into many different types of music. A truly 'once in a lifetime' talent, to be sure.

How, at 9yrs 2mos, she can get as low as F3, is preposterous! This was first written/composed, then recorded, in 1955. His 1956 recording was selected as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's “500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.” This is the recording which Angelina covered! And she has transcended the limitations of her instrument to create unique sounds that communicate authentic feeling, cause shock and awe in the listener , and all of it appropriate. Certainly, there are other child singers that are shockingly good for their ages. However, they don't reveal and articulate the meaning, raw visceral emotion, even the physicality of every note and lyric like Angelina does so surprisingly, instinctually and completely.

It was so different than what was popular at that time that it DEFINITELY got my attention. I liked it, and they played it enough times to etch it in my memory. One time when we were watching a live band someone requested the song "Stand By Me." The singer promised to sing it, but said it had to be the last song of the night bc it was so hard on his voice. I read somewhere that some critic commented that she could not do a seriously "belting" song, and that version of "I have nothing" was her "I dare you to say that again" response. Angelina can do any song, any genre, and usually emotionally improve on the original artist performance while still paying respect to them. That in itself is a feat, given the artists she is covering - Whitney Houston, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Etta James, Billie Holiday, you name it.
Her versatility is unmatched by anyone. It helps that she has totally no fear which allows her to venture into
many different types of music. A truly 'once in a lifetime' talent, to be sure.
I never get tired of this song, and her version of it. God please watch over her, protect her and her family, from all the bad.🙏
