The problem was that there was just some things I couldn't accept about him. He wasn't a growth-oriented person, and he would rather just live a comfortable materialistic lifestyle rather than one that challenges him to become better. He also just didn't see a need to care about issues that don't directly affect him which I saw as being selfish. I wasn't clear about these deal breakers when we separated, which is why he probably thinks there's still a chance for us.
