Well…because you were too much of a baby to tough it out for another 3 months you now owe $26k 👏🏼
Yea, that was a dumb move.
Haha right , what a dummy !!
Employers rarely go after relocation/signing bonuses. Contract seems unfair because this amount should really be prorated somehow. Not surprised he mistakenly acted without thinking here.
Thank you!
@@drtij_dzienz Even then, if I was in his shoes, no savings, I wouldn't risk it. If I had "f you money" in case they sue me, sure. But 3 months is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Now he has to face the consequences of his poor decisions.
This caller had such a victim mindset but he creates his own problems. 😂😂😂
99.9 % of financial problems are self inflicted.
Absolutely
Exactly!
exactly what I was thinking. Bro couldn’t push through the last 3 months??
It's almost comical. Has this guy ever made a good decision?
You couldn't suck it up for 90 more days?? Yeah you gotta pay that back.
Seriously, what was he thinking? No one is going to leave that money on the table, of course they are going to go after him for it.
Why isn’t it prorated? 2y is kind of ridiculously long for relocation clawback. Like hospital clawbacks when they sponsor Filipino nurse visa level scamminess . After taxes he woulda only gotten like $15k in hand
@@drtij_dzienz The incentive is for the employee to stay long term with the company. If they are pro-rating it as they earn it, there isn't any reason for the employee to not leave whenever they choose.
@@drtij_dzienzIt’s not prorated because the company made an investment in him and expected to have him around for at least the full 2 years. Sign on bonus or moving incentives. If the companies would let people pull these kinds of stunts and quit before the contract was up, everyone would do it. It’s an investment for the company. This guy was an idiot for not holding out another 90 days.
@@barnabusdoyle4930 he worked 87% of the contract so it’s unethical to expect a 100% clawback. My 401k match vesting schedule was prorated over 3y and I think signing bonuses should be as well. When NFL players retire I believe their signing bonus clawback is prorated, as is the salary cap hit.
They make $160k and have no money. They are totally clueless!! My wife and I make less than that, and we have no debt, a paid-off house, and savings. They need to grow up!!
Yea, they are totally out of control.
THANK YOU!!! I cringe hard when I hear people who make $100k say they are struggling financially.
100k isn’t really that much money
Sounds like a boatload of debt, the result of impulsive decisions. Time to suck it up, get a second job (yes, it WILL take you away from your family), and pay your debt to your former employer!
Amen, preach it.
Why would he leave with 3 months. He says "to be with his family". Well he just put his family in a worse situation. Also don't like the way he essentially uses his family as his excuse to break his contract. He hurt his family with this.
This. He put his family more in debt instead of just toughening it out for 3 months.
Information wasn’t shared.
There’s alotta information not shared
They make 160K, this was a smallish hiccup they could totally handle if they weren't so ridiculously disorganized.
The little baby had to travel, and he got homesick. Had to run home to mommy.
This man is ridiculous. He should have stayed for another 3 months and gotten fired if he couldn't do the job. How was he able to do it for the 1.75 years prior? Now he needs to work (spend time away from the family) to pay the 26k. RIDICULOUS. Sounds like he's not intelligent or mentally strong enough to lead a family.
Yes. Not toughing it out for three more months was a $26,000 mistake.
Yes! Very weird! Also I would encourage my husband to stay. What kind of wife does this to their husband.. so weird
Maybe he thinks staying with family is worth 26k
@@eile4219 It's not worth 26K when you have a crapload of debt already and no savings. What does that mean anyway, "be with his family"? He and his wife have not been handling finances well. "Being with family" doesn't offset that.
@eile4219 And $100k in debt. No, that's not smart.
He will be broke his entire life, with his current attitude.
That’s why I started investing in the stock market because of dividends. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and earn more money in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can pass that on to your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested over $600k in dividend stocks over the years; I continue to buy more today and will continue to do so until the price lowers even further.
It's always inspiring to hear from a veteran investor who has weathered the storm and come out on top. When your portfolio turns from green to red, it might be unsettling, but if you have invested in great companies, you should just keep adding to them and stick with your plan.
I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I appreciate giving an investment coach the power of decision-making. Given their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risk for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it is practically impossible for them to underperform. I have made over 1.5 million dollars working with an investment coach for more than two years
How can one get in touch with these coach? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances

Makes $160 and won’t pay? They need to pay!
Dude called the wrong show if he was looking to dodge paying.
He doesn't need to call a show if he's not planning to pay.
It's just another example of how clueless he is. He doesn't know anything about the show; he just thinks, "Oh, these are money people. They'll help me weasel out of this."
Only 3 months left & he couldn’t tough it out? He made a stupid choice & now has to pay stupid tax. I can’t believe he called trying to see if there was a way that he could get out of paying the 26K back!
This guy sounds so dopey. What does he expect to happen? I wouldn’t give this guy a contract for anything. He wanted to be with his family but just put his family in more debt.
Why couldn’t he have stayed on the job for just three more months?
"dopey" nailed it!
Actually, this is the perfect guy to give these kinds of contracts to. You got him for 90% of the contract time and are getting refunding your signing bonus/moving incentives.
Someone who makes decisions based on emotion rather than rational. That’s how he’s in all this debt to begin with
Couldn't just phone it in for 3 months. What a child
It’s completely ridiculous that he didn’t suck it up for 3 more months so he wouldn’t owe this additional debt.
He really thought he could get away without paying what he owes
Yeah, and he wanted to spend more time with family lol - well, not anymore now that he needs to work around the clock to pay this money.
It's also completely ridiculous that they make $160,000 and still couldn't be content so they racked up huge debt.
As much as i love my husband and love him being at home more than being at work... if he wanted to leave a crappy job but getting out now vs. in 3 months would cost us $26,000, there's no question that he would finish his contract.
I had a job that paid for my Masters Degree. I had to work for 8 years or pay back the money. I knew after 1 year that the job wasn't for me but I toughed it out for 7 more years and resigned. Nothing owed! 3 months? THREE MONTHS?! I don't feel bad for him but I do feel bad for his wife and kids.
@pandaangry1267 yeah...some of us are tougher than others!
After lawyer fees and court cost including the debt due, he's about to pay even more than the 26k😂😂😂
Not necessarily. If he doesn't pay up, there is a good chance they will go away, or sell the account to some weird debt collection agency. It is dishonorable to do other than pay, but he does not necessarily have to pay.
@@shirtlesslagerliens...they're a wonderful way of getting deadbeats like this dude.
His old employer knows his earning potential. They may garnish
@@gmarie3053 To garnishee wages, they would have to win not just the judgment, but authorization to do so. He could counter by quitting whatever job, and challenge them to squeeze blood from a turnip.
@@shirtlesslagerthat ain’t happening
Why don't you think you should pay? You couldn't last three more months? You owe it, so pay it.
Actually he did the company a favor (most likely - unless he left them in the middle of a big problem and created a lot of problems). Most likely they sue because they _can._ An unmotivated employee (but in a high paying role). They would have had to pay him for 3 more months, while he secretely is already out of the door. Then they would not see their 26k back AND they would have "lost" 3 months pay of his salary. A person that has mentally left is no good.
If I couldn't suck it up for 2 months to save my family 20-30 grand in debt,my wife would think I was the biggest wimp on the planet 🤣
So he left 3 months early to be with his family more, and put them in a $26,000 hole, and then got another job anyway, and wants to be the victim for not honoring his commitment
Wow this dude isn’t wrapped too tight. His reasons for leaving are weak.
He was doing the noble thing so he could spend more time with his family lol
@@listerinrdoesn’t matter. He signed a contract. He shouldn’t have signed the contract first
@@listerinrthen he shouldn’t have taken the job. It’s on him
That’s only part of the story we don’t know the rest, nor do we know the difficulty it took on him. It was a reason they gave him 26k to relocate, it was the company probably not fully explaining the weight it takes
I'm amazed at how some of these callers make $100k+ being total idiots.
Poor baby who quit his job because he's homesick now has a combined income of $160k. Complaining about owing $26k to someone who believed in him. Boo hoo. Pay the money in like 6 months. Unbelievable.
Chances are that wife is not going to want to give any of her $60k. lol. He is on his own.
Toxic, entitled attitude. He leads off the call with getting out of paying it when he absolutely can afford to pay it. No sympathy here!
Being under so much debt paralyzes you. He is trying to find a way out, and the hosts went to the root of the problem, not just the outcome
Gold medalist in irresponsibility
What a surprise. They actually expected him to pay the debt he incurred. He called wanting them to tell him how to get out of paying it.
Everything right here right now. Instant gratification will destroy anything.
Bingo. That’s how they live their life.
Maybe there was a mental health or family crisis. He DID talk to his boss (the immediate boss) who thought that they company would not enforce it. Higher ups went the route: IF we CAN sue we will.
"I had to quit for personal reasons"
"What was the reason?"
"Personally I didn't like the job and instead of sticking it out for three more months I hoped they'd just give up on the 26k"
George and Rachel gave awesome advice. This guy needs to mature and grow a pair.
This guy isn’t going to follow this advice, he has 3 consolidation loans! He wasn’t looking for a way to pay, but for a way to get out of paying. I’m glad he’s finally being held accountable.
Ikr!
He has bad Financial form and now he tried to weasel out of it
He only has himself to blame
Whaaaaaat?! 160k and no money! Dude needs to go see caleb hammer. 😅😂
160k gross income. That's not much money in most areas of this country if you have kids.
@@m.687 Median household income in the USA is $76,000/year. I'd argue that $76k/year isn't a lot to work with for a family, but $160k pretax definitely should be. You budget and follow Ramsey principles, your family should do well with that kind of income.
@@m.687120 a year net 10k a month is no money nice dumb ppl just talk to talk
How does this guy think he can borrow that kind of money from his boss without being responsible for repaying the loan ?
I do not think he "borrowed". that was a hiring bonus or training costs .... but it seems excessive that the full amount would be due. (and if that is already a reduced amount the "penalty" for not fulfilling your contract seems excessive).
@@franziskani oh ok. But either way, he owes the money. And he cant just take the money and run and think you don’t have to repay what you took from the employer.
@@franziskani my guess is that it was a trucking company. They often offer to train for free but only if you work for them for x years. Leave early and you owe it all. Lots of people fall into this trap. Truck driving is hard work but I think a lot of people think it's easy. You're just driving all day, right? More to it than that.
That makes since and would explain why he mentioned being away from his family.@@ADHDpancakesurprise
he didn't borrow it. It was money paid to him to cover relocation expenses. When I relocated for work, I was given a lump sum to cover costs (much less than that, but stull a very fair amount) and I had a similar arrangement where I had to stay for at least 2 years. It's common practice, they're investing in you by paying for your relocation. It wouldn't make sense to pay someone $26k to move, and then have them quit in a month for a different job in that area.
He should have consulted HR or his manager to ask about leaving early due to family reasons. He probably could have settled with a prorated amount paid back to cover the last three months
Honor the contract you agreed to.
Household income $160k and has zero money? Dave would have reemed him. These guys are too nice.
This is a personal responsibility and 'owning up' issue more than anything. I wouldn't even want this guy as a friend!
What a doofus, he only had 3 months left 😵💫😖
3 months left and the dummy took off. Unbelievable
Maybe his wife gave him an ultimatum… he would have lost way more than $26k in a divorce
@@drtij_dzienzthen thell be divorced here soon anyways so now he owes 26k and divorce you made up a random situation
I always love when people call into this show asking how they can get out of paying money that they agreed to pay
How much in credit cards? “Right now about…”? WTF? She was asking about last year or 2029? 😂😂😂
This guy has no plan. I am sorry this was a stupid move. Just 2 months away. I put up with the shit even If I hate to pull myself to work
I signed a 10year commercial lease that we had to back out as our franchise and build out costs were 3x what we were told and anticipated. We literally did nothing to the space, ever used it, still had to pay out 65k to terminate our lease. making payments for 2 years. gotta own your mistakes
he should have stayed for the 3 months, dumb for him to quit over family was 3 months, not 3 years. Make a payment plan with the attorney to get them paid if you do not have the whole amount
This poor guy, I hate when people have to be accountable for their decisions
Had people at my last job deal with this they worked out a settlement based on how long they were actually there.
This individual reminds of a co-worker. We were both in out 20s and had government jobs. If you do a certain amount of time then you get free healthcare for life. He wasn't getting along with a supervisor so just 4 months before hitting 5 years and getting free healthcare he decided to quit. Fifteen years later he wishes he had stayed because he is suffering from medical condition that requires surgery and going to the doctor is very expensive. People today make decisions without thinking about the consequences.
And a lot of people are like this! They take loans they can’t afford, make promises they can’t keep and then go try to find ways to no go through with anything
You're not prioritizing your family when you put yourself further in debt because you couldn't hold on for 3 months to fulfill a promise you made to your employer.
I love this show. It always makes me feel way better about my own situation.
Another case where someone is book smart and can earn a $100K but has no common sense and real world knowledge! There are lots of him out there. It's great to be smart, but give me someone with common sense anyday!
It wasn’t a surprise….he knew the day he decided to leave he would owe that money
Man, he only had to make it 3 more months! We've all had jobs we didn't like, but you stick it out for 3 more month to avoid owing 26K!
He couldn't wait just 3 more months???? He's screwed. Actually...he screwd himself. Living beyond their means....same excuse every time
Dave would have ripped into this guy… new generation is too nice. This whole issue could have been avoided by sticking it out for another 90 days.
Where does their money go for pete's sake?
Automobiles
On LIFESTYLE THEY CAN'T AFFORD. He called to weasel out of his responsibility to repay his debt.
This caller is not sick and tired, you can tell. He is not taking this advise.
He should have stuck it out for 3 more months. Pay the stupid tax bruh.
Great answer, they are accountable for the decisions they make. He acts like he doesn't like their answer!
He didn't make mistakes. He made choices. A mistake is when you accidentally spell somebody's name with AK. Instead of AC or something like that, he made a choice to leave that job early, he made a choice to take credit card and he made a choice to take all the debt. Those were choices aren't mistakes
This 26k this is the least of his problems. Their spending is out of control. They have consolidated debt three times already. And they still have 14K on credit cards. These people are headed for bankruptcy unless they change their habits.
Good on George and Rachel. He DEF. needs a WAKE UP CALL.
He don’t pay, the attorney will simply file and record a judgment. Any assets he owes, the attorney can now claim to recover the funds. Lesson: Pay the $26K back as soon as you can!
The attorney has to win. Can't just file a claim and collect. He could sit tight and watch what happens.
Sometimes it’s hard to do the right thing and to make logical decisions above emotional ones. 🐜
I just love all you guys, just want to say that, I know a lot of people love these videos, just wanted to let you know, 😊
Lol, poor dude just found out you can't do a (4th) debt consolidation on this 26k. 😂😂😂
These are the friends you have who have a nice big house, two expensive cars, go on fancy vacations, and you wonder, "Where do they get all their money from?"
Too bad Dave didn't get this call...he would have yelled and rant the heck out to get him to realize how irresponsible he's been. Then he would say I yell at you bc I love you. 😂
What an absolutely stupid reason to have quit this job and put himself into this situation. What’s even worse is he was only 3 months away from being released. He was under contract. This is what I call cause and effect.
Maybe he got a better job offer. He should have waited out the three months. He owes the money and should repay it. They have LIFESTYLE THEY CAN'T AFFORD. No, he needs to repay the $26,000. That's his responsibility. They make $160,,000. They need to cut the LIFESTYLE THEY CAN'T AFFORD.
So he just put his family in a worse situation. Because he can’t be patient after a contract at all? And they make 160k but have nothing?? I just know they live on credit card debt.
This is the type of person who deserves to pay double. For being so incompetent,
Responsibility! Live up to your word or pay the money, simple.
3 months to go and you break a contract at a cost of $26,000, daughter had a sign in bonus for $5,000. For 12 mos so she had to finish the contract even though she wanted to leave.
Can’t wait 3 months!
he should ask if they'll settle for a prorated amount... $26,000/24 month x 3 months = $3,250. Hopefully he can come up with that...
Live on 60k and it’s all paid in a year!
Expensive decision, among many expensive decisions he's been making. Glad they gifted him FPU, he needs to figure out how to be more financially responsible for the sake of his family. Also when George mentioned negotiating a smaller amount he didn't really think to suggest coming up with a repayment plan (which would be the simplest solution for all parties here)
He quit 3 months before the 2 years so he can have more time with his family, but now he'll have less time with family trying to pay this money back.
Biggest mistake is giving an employer leverage. Relocation assistance or sign in bonus will always have a catch. I would never take a bite no matter how tempting it is. It's easier to leave a job when nothing is binding you.
160k household income, and they are broke!
Pile another $26K on his $100K of debt just because he wouldn’t tough it out 3 more months?! Man dug this hole himself.
It's time. Time to make a change.
A lot of companies don't follow up with these type of agreements. I'm willing to bet he was convinced the company wouldn't come after him for the money.
You are right and everyone in here is wrong. And if they do follow through they'll find their claim for the full amount denied since he fulfilled almost 90 percent of the required term period.
Civil court judges aren't unreasonable dicks, ....even if the commenters in here calling themselves Christians and trashing this guy, are.
Only a matter of time before the wife realizes she married a beta.
The hosts missed the fact that the caller intentionally quit his job and has no income. So they cannot count the caller's combined income as 160K (it's more like 60K). He didn't say he has a new job lined up. I bet he originally chose this job because it paid more. Otherwise if he had a new job lined up, he could have asked the new job to repay the relocation (this is actually fairly common). So the caller actually has no income.
$26k divided by 24 months is $1083.34/mo, times 3 months is $3249.9999999. I'd offer to pro-rate the rest, pay $3250 back and be done. And then fix the rest of your freaking life, holy cow man.
Why did he even call in? Was he looking for a magical “Nah, you won’t have to pay it.” answer?
You what to dance,,, you have to pay the band
Lot more to this story than what this caller indicated. Sounds as though he didn't leave under the best of circumstances and/or the company tried to discuss with him repaying the $26k and he blew them off. Companies just don't go straight to the attorney route.
Sounds like he quit 3 months early just so he could try to get out of paying back the money?
They seem to live on borrowed money. Are they living like celebrities?
Most likely. They have a LIFESTYLE THEY CAN'T AFFORD.
He couldn't wait three months? They make $160,,000 and have so much debt because they have LIFESTYLE THEY CAN'T AFFORD. No, he needs to accept responsibility for his $26,000 debt. He called ti find a way to weasel out of his responsibility to repay the $26,000 No, that's his responsibility and he needs to pay.
Just because you make money, doesn’t mean you make smart decisions
This is good comedy
I hope they figure it out. I cringe when I hear that someone makes that much money and has no savings.
Its like you walked into a bank and stole 26.000 you owe it bro. There coming for you!😂
Wrong again.
Poor judgement has consequences
Caller stated that He left for Personal reasons... because He missed His Family. Well... now He is going to miss Them even more because He will probably have to get a Side Hustle in order to get Himself outta this Extra Debt!
If he loses. Hasn't lost yet.
Yeah, he owes it!!! Not wanting to pay it back is theft!!!
He thought he he could use the family excuse to tiptoe around what he owed😂😭
That was a very expensive
three months.
Needed to be considered when he decided to leave. Just like vesting etc it fits into the equation for a reason
So, which excuse was it: He didn't think he could fulfill the responsibilities of the job, or he was spending too much time away from his family? If his job performance was lacking, he would've been told so by his superiors. If the hours/commute was taking up too much time away from the wife & kids, all he had to do was suck it up for 90 more days. Now he's put his beloved family into *more* debt. He sounds young -- and foolish -- and entitled! -- calling to ask how he can get out of this. *Pay your debt!*
hes not very bright
