I had the same problem with the front wheels jacking to one side. I noticed it happens when I take a turn too sharp from a stop. Because the pintle is behind the rear axis point, the pintle momentarily pulls to the opposite way of the turn. Think of if you had something sticking wayyyyy out from the rear, if you turn left, it sweeps right. The front wheels of the tow vehicle instantly react and there's no recovering it. Backing up with a tow bar will also cause it, so will a pothole or larger bump. That's the exact reason the military advise against exceeding 35mph when flat towing with a tow bar. I've heard extending the tow bar to max length decreases occurrences but haven't tried it to confirm.

While towing a Duce and half como truck with my M543 wrecker one of the pins came out of the towed vehicles bumper, I looked in my mirror and the Duce was going from one side the road to the other side giving the driver and the shot gunner a wild ride.hahahahaha
