I am a 30-year veteran (retiree) of the United States Air Force. My family and I were assigned to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in mid-1991, just at the conclusion of Operation Desert Storm. This was before the days of MP3s and downloads, we were still in the days of CDs and VHS tapes. The one recording we wanted to make sure we took with us was this rendition of the United States National Anthem by the late Ms. Whitney Houston (God rest her soul), as, 30 years later, we still believe it to be the best ever.

Whitney Houston's version of the Star Spangled Banner is by far the best ever sung. No one will ever do it better than her, in my humble opinion. She wasn't just singing the anthem to sing the anthem. She was triumphantly singing the words with such raw emotion behind the meaning of the words. No one will ever do it better. No one.
The transition and range from being delicate to strong made this rendition just mean that much more impactful

I was a freshman in high school when I watched her perform this live at the Superbowl and your reaction was mine. I stood there in awe watching her on television with tears streaming down my face. I was so captivated by her. Here we are 32 years later and EVERY single time I hear Whitney's rendition the tears still fall. She was and is the BEST singer in history to me and I miss her dearly.

Whitney Houston's rendition of this national anthem is honestly one of, if not THE best one in existence! I love that you reacted emotionally as you did, because it's the combination of her flawless vocals and the amazing musical arrangement that went perfectly together (I believe it was a Black Jazz saxophonist who created the arrangement). And, I feel compelled to say, you are an absolutely gorgeous woman. Black women are beautiful, period, and you are one of the most beautiful I've seen. We Who are fans and love Whitney "The Voice" Houston already know this But we do not care because she recorded it the day of and came out there and it was matchless!! Also to put a shut up, to all you critics she performed it again on the Welcome Home Heroes on HBO, and Stilll, and I mean Stillllll Knocked it out of the Park!! So go watch that so you like all the other critics are doing after that performance on welcome home Heroes, which is eating dust under her feet!!!! Because ya'll know Whitney Houston can sing and had a blessed beautiful gift from God! So Why are you people always trying to bring that up!! She song the sung, End of story!!! That's it and that's All!!
