I’ve ended and burned out so many relationships, jobs and people. I feel scared of myself sometimes. Like who is the real me?
I do feel less alone now. Thank you for sharing this

This so sad, and it makes me angry that women are still forced to suffer in silence because women's health issues are just in our heads. She literally described my entire reproductive life.

kimia saleh me too girl. So sorry. Hang in there. Breaks my heart for you. Crazy how these hormones work. The second I start bleeding is when it all stops too. I get 7-10 days before of craziness and such a low. But the moment she shows herself then I’m back to me...back to being happy and loving life.

Hello I can't speak to your situation specifically but I am a health coach and then I'll P therapist and I do hair tissue mineral balancing. That being said it may be useful to get your lithium tested. A hair mineral biopsy looks at your adrenals and your thyroid and all the minerals that cause them to work. I just to look at the idea of suicide when needs to look at lithium and that may be very helpful

Yep. Sometimes just my boyfriend being in the same room with me drives me crazy. But, thankfully, we have open discussions about my PMDD, and he understands that it's not him, and he just leaves me alone. He knows I'm noot able to control what my mind and body are doing. He has tourettes, so he can relate. He has even gotten to the point where, sometimes, before I can give him the heads up, he sees the change in me and asks if my PMDD is coming up. Its really nice to have an understanding.

Thank you for sharing your story. After struggling awhile with this, I just got my diagnosis a few days ago. I immediately went onto RUclips to get real life testimonials on how women struggle + triumph with this. Your video is the first one I watched, and was beyond relatable I cried. I later shared it with my husband cuz it was important for me to show him that his wife is not the only one. Like you, my partner is incredibly supportive. Thank you again for being so candid about your experiences.

I have this too. It's horrible. I feel like I'm coming down with the flu from the muscle aches and chills. Also, heart palpitations and I wake up with headaches (if I sleep at all). This is a miserable condition.

I wouldn't wish this on anybody. It is so hard to pick up the pieces of the self destruction you've done in the 2 weeks before your period. I feel like I can't breathe, like my boyfriend hates me, like everyone hates me, so bloated, boobs hurt so bad I can't even walk... I could go on and on. You're not alone Kenzi, and my heart is so heavy for you that you deal with this too. Hugs

Hey girl, I know how hard it is. I have PMDD too. Honestly, I think the best thing for me was realising that PMDD is why I feel the way I do. It just explained EVERYTHING. The worst thing was when I didn't know why I was like a crazy person! Last year I was a miserable mess. I fought with my family every day, I cried for hours every day and the same as you, I had the symptoms 75% of the time. I started taking the pill as hormone therapy and it has helped so much by keeping my hormone levels constant. You skip your period, even just once each time and it kicks the cycle out of whack. I don't know about you but I could count out the days of when I would have an outburst. It was very cyclic. It's been 8 months now, and honestly, within 3 months of starting the medication, I felt like myself again - and I had forgotten what that felt like. To be happy and in control of my mind and my body. I had to unlearn some of my reactive behaviours but as soon as I learned that it wasn't chemical anymore - that I could control it, I was able to. I don't know if you've tried this but it has really worked for me. Now instead of having the symptoms 75% of the time, I only feel the symptoms once every 2-3 months and they're not as bad because they haven't been snowballing. So despite the hopeless feeling you probably feel (I know because I felt it too) there is totally hope. And eating right, exercising and surrounding yourself with positive people who speak the truth will help you so much as well. Thanks for sharing :) You're very brave.

Kenz&Chlo For a while there I thought it was something else but its honestly shocking when you go from feeling happy and you to feeling like everything is wrong. Im thinking about going on the pill? Though I do think if i can force myself to exercise it does seem to help a little

Thank you for posting this video. I am also struggling with PMDD, and it's so cool to learn that I'm not alone, not cool though that this condition is a thing, and that there is no universal, tested treatment strategy. I hope that you got to smile lots (for reals) today or whenever you encounter this message (or not, totes cool too, on either fronts). I understand your struggles, and you're not alone in this either!

I have PMDD and listening to your symptoms was so real for me. I'm an extroverted person but when I'm at my worst I totally shut down and shut everyone out. You're right about there not being enough awareness and info out there, so thank you for putting this out there. I'm also still trying to figure out how to manage this too - seeing a naturopath this week to try to get my hormones tested. I just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

    • @Kenzi.Copter
      @Kenzi.Copter  7 лет назад

Thank you for commenting saying I am not alone. There really isn't enough information out there and I plan to do update videos on this subject. I just commented above that " After I posted this video...I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and purchased two bottles of vitamins. One being "B-6 B-12 and Folic Acid" and the other "5-HTP. " Both Dissolve in my mouth. I have to say...During my peak of PMDD...this has changed my life. I haven't felt so mentally stable and naturally happy in such a long time. They say give yourself a break here and there with taking it due to tolerance. So i plan to not take them while I'm on my period. " I recommend giving it a try! I take it first thing in the morning, and it's been about 6 days. I feel really great. I hope seeing the naturopath can give you some answers! Rise above! :)

Hi kenzi, first of all thank you for this video because I am one of the people who looked it up to find other peoples experiences. This pmdd idea was just brought up by a clinician recently and fits me to a T. I have been told to take a ton of glutathione, which I am on for Lyme disease, but to double it. Also I think we will be switching lexapro to Zoloft which has pmdd down as a listed disorder it treats. I hope that’ll help me. I totally understand the drastic emotional and behavioral changes. It’s insane.

Melanie Sander I also use "PMS on steroids", AND tell people my symptoms can start coming up 14 days before (my period tracker says) I'm supposed to get my period. I tell them I know it's hard to understand, but it's truly a hormonal issue, and I have discovered through research that it's not that I simply can't handle "normal" PMS (which is what I thought it might be). I also tell them I've never heard anyone with more normal PMS symptoms say they'd honestly rather die than deal with it one more time.

I think I blew it with a guy I just started seeing because yesterday when I was at his house I was so quiet around him. Thank you so much for posting this. You're right; not enough people are taking about PMDD. 2-10% is a huge number of women, so where are the stories? I too look to RUclips for EVERYTHING.
    So here's my story.
I've suspected I had PMDD for around a year now, and in the last week my symptoms of irritation, aggression, and isolation got so bad, I started sabotaging all of my Poly relationships; specifically with my husband and our girlfriend.
The consequences are way too high for me, so I went to see my gynecologist and finally got diagnosed. I'm going to give Yaz a try, but I'm terrified of how much worse it might make everything. Like I told my gynecologist; if in three years time hormonal birth control still isn't helping, I'm probably going to pursue a hysterectomy. Having biological children someday, and putting off menopause isn't worth losing my loved ones.
Hang in there, Kenzi- and thank you for making me feel a little less crazy during one of the hardest months I've ever had.

I'm still trying to get it under control but I find nourishing liver herbs ( like: milk thistle, turmeric, reishi, Oregon grape root ect. ) have been helping me a lot. They help the liver process our bodies hormones. Also rose glycerite & chamomile tincture have been very comforting too. You can find a tincture with some liver herbs at your local health food store... warning the liver herbs might bring up some anger before it goes away 🤗

Like I'm sure youve heard a few times, maybe you need a birth control pill on top of the anti depressants you already take, just for the hormones. When I took Yaz several years ago it was great, cause when I hit the white pills in the pack (the others were a light pink I believe) I knew a day or two later Id get my period, so I was always prepared. And once or twice, I had something planned, like swimming or something with friends, so I just skipped the white pills, and kept taking the pink ones so I wouldnt get my period that month. Never had a problem.that's

As of right now, Im not on any medication, and have not been officially diagnosed, but I experience all of that too, and I KNOW I have PMDD. I basically, first off, tell my boyfriend as SOON as I start feeling weird/off (he's 100% on board with dealing with my condition), even if its only for 5 minutes, 2 times that day, and my period tracker says I have 14 days til I get my period. That way, I'm "covered". I've given him fair warning, which sometimes he doesn't even need (sometimes he'll know I'm not acting like myself and ask "Is your PMDD coming up?", which is great, I feel understood). And I brace myself. I have horrific days where I cry for absolutely no reason because I feel completely overwhelmed, and I do feel like I'd just rather die than deal with this. But, I keep telling myself "This is JUST the PMDD, just (as you said) feel the feelings, cry, get angry, and let the emotion do its thing. It WILL go away when you get your period.". I'm dealing with it right now, which is how I found your video. If you wanna talk or anything, just comment back, and we can start a conversation. Even if you just wanna share how shitty you feel. Cause I feel so uncomfortable in my own skin when I'm like this. So, good luck, comment back if you need to talk or vent. -Lindsey

Audrey J I think that one (of a few) reasons my last marriage, before this current relationship started, ended was partly due to the PMDD. At the time, I didn't have any idea what was going on. I thought maybe I was just dealing with depression, or just couldn't handle pms symptoms like other women can seem to. I also thought it couldn't be PMS because it was happening so far before my period. But, that's how I found PMDD on google. I decided then that even though its not a fun or easy topic to talk to your significant other about (especially if they're male), that any relationship I'd have, I would HAVE to let them know what was going to happen, and obviously that would be their choice if they think they could deal with it. I also have chronic pain, so that is discussed right before the PMDD. Communication is very, very, important. I always tell him he does a great job dealing with my symptoms (I get extremely spacey and forgetful also, and that can be frustrating), and I try to tell him in my slightly clearer moments, "Just remember, whatever my mood, you KNOW, it's not YOU." I'm an affectionate person, and sometimes I don't even want him to touch me. He tells me all the time though that he appreciates that I deal with his ADHD and Tourettes (which like my PMDD, he can't control since it's a nuerological disorder), so it's ok. We just keep open lines of communication, and we talk if there's an issue. (Feel free to reply again if you have more to say. Its nice to feel understood and share feelings.)

Audrey J (Comment #2 of mine, the longer one was first) The period tracker I use is Pink Pad Pro, and it is completely free. Once you fill in a period, it will tell you when your next one should be, and gives you little options for choosing moods, and symptoms (along with severity of symptoms) and even though I dont use them, there is an option to put in any weight or temperature changes. You can even just put in "spotting" if that's all that is happening before you really get your period. If you'd get pregnant, you can put that in, then I BELIEVE it starts telling you how far along you are. I really love the mood options and severity for symptoms, because if you go to a doctor, and need to know exactly how you felt on a period 6 months ago, you can just scroll to that month and click on the day. I've been using it for probably 5 years. Its extremely helpful also that you can put moods and symptoms in on days you don't actually have your period. That way if you're 14 days away, and start feeling like crap, you can put that in to show a doctor that's really how far ahead these issues start for you.

I just came across your video while searching for answers and understanding....Thank you so much for sharing your story!!! I just figured out this is what's been happening with me for so long. My husband had to rush me to the ER twice in a week because I thought I was having a heart attack or a mental breakdown. Like my body was powering down, one cylinder at a time at a rapid rate. It was a long road to finally figuring out what was wrong. My anxiety and depression made me feel like I'm losing my mind. I almost had them admit me to the psych ward. I started taking this supplement called Cortisol Control made with ashwagandha and it was a game changer for me. I still suffer awful, awful days but it's only a few days a month rather than 3 weeks a month. I hope you have found some relief and help somewhere. St johns wort helped me too, but I was on it for years and it almost killed me when I had to wean off it. Maybe if you took it for a few weeks a month instead of daily like I did?
I am so appreciative of your bravery and helping me to feel understood right when I needed it!

Omg this brings me so much relief.😫thank you for this video. I think I have the same thing. I was just reading an article and they suggested exercising and eating healthy🙄... that’s so unhelpful-when you don’t want to get out of bed. Just thank you. I found a natural supplement that I am going to order tonight that might help. I ‘ll probably make a video review in a few months. I hope you are getting through it too.

I've experienced this for years and I always knew something was very wrong with me and for so long I thought I might be mentally ill. When I discovered PMDD online it was a huge revelation for me because the fact I feel like a demon possessed me for a week every month finally made sense. Sadly knowing about it doesn't help because I don't know how to escape it. The anxiety and fatigue and irritability completely consume me and I get so mad at myself because I know what's happening and yet I can't stop it or control it. It really does feel like I'm being possessed by a demon. What makes it worse is when people dismiss it and act like it's not real or that you should just "get over it". Believe me, if I could I would have a LONG time ago because month after month it gets a little worse each time and I'm scared of how bad this is going to get..

I have it too. It goes from feeling normal/happy to absolute despair and suicidal in a SECOND. I work out, eat good, supplements, etc and have for decades. It only does so much. Medications and birth control made me a thousand times crazier. All I can really do is just sit with it. Sucks even worse for me because I also have endometriosis, so when I do bleed, I'm too sick to get out of bed for another week. I haven't been able to have a normal job in years because of this. I go through times of healing some, and I am thankful for how much it's improved, but when it's bad, it's bad.

I’m on Zoloft and I absolutely HAVE to take it!!! Without it, it’s like a demon takes control and I’m helplessly watching myself in the background. Without my antidepressants I’m suicidal, I contemplate divorce, I resent my autistic daughter, I think people are spying on me and feel very anxious and paranoid. When I’m not in my low point I want more kids but then reality sets back in when my mood dips. I wonder how I can even manage another child. It’s heartbreaking and exhausting. But I have found some strategies that have helped. First, antidepressants that actually work is a must for me. I tried Zoloft and it works for me. Therapy, so I don’t just hang on to guilt or beat myself up as hard. I delete my social media apps during my 10-14 day “hell” period. I also don’t schedule any events, outings or travel during that time. “Hell Week” is very dark and lonely but I manage it with luxurious baths, reading books, watching dramas and crying, and asking for help with my daughter so I can be alone. That’s how I’ve been coping. I hope this is helpful to anyone. 💖

Thank you. I've been diagnosed years ago and then it just went away for a while. I guess it's just been back recently, I don't know if it's just been dormant or it just started 2 months ago. I DO get irritated but I just stay quiet or calm. The only thing that I can funny focus is on my job. I understand the "switch" thing and it's more of a 24/7 job. I feel more hopeless if I don't focus on my job and moving up for a better ambiance for me and my boyfriend because I know his mood swings even though may be caused by me, are more easily triggered by his living situation. So it doesn't help when he has them during my time because I sink myself lower, my anxiety is much more higher and so is the depression. I try my hardest not to let them be noticeable, and there's times that I even hope a car will hit me because I'm just so tired and overwhelmed with myself. I pull my hair more, my nails are just bitten to the bottom and I don't know if he can handle how much worse this may get! And physically I'm always tired, the last two months before my period, my pelvis and leg joints killed me, headaches are constant, I lose sleep, but yet, I could flip that switch and kinda hype myself up. But there have been a few days that I just stay home and binge a bit, yet I'll lose my appetite for certain things I know I like. I'm just tired of this and I know it could get worse. I'm debating whether I should spend less time with my boyfriend during the weeks leading up or spend more time, because I will continually put myself down and come up with the feeling that he's angry with me, although he probably isn't. I'm already tired of this and I recently started again.

I think i am struggling with pmdd. The way u describe the symptoms and feelings are how I feel. I have spent years being prescribed anti depressants with no release. I am going to speak to my GP about this to see if I can get treatment. I feel I can no longer live a life like this. 1 week in every month is no way to live your life. Hang on in there xxx

I don't know if this is different than just regular depression/anxiety but I think I need to look into this because I'm a nut case when it's close to my time or it is my time. I didn't consider this is what it was because I didn't know what it was and also it's not only on or close to my time, it's most of the month. I can be fine in one moment and in the next I am lashing out and nit picking everything. I feel awful for my boyfriend because sometimes I can't even figure out why I'm making such a deal of things, but I cannot stop feeling the anger or sadness I'm feeling. I too can turn this off at work or when it's a necessary thing. I feel so unmotivated and hate everything or doing anything. I can relate to literally everything you said... I don't feel so crazy now, honestly, thank you. This is the best video I have found and I think I want my boyfriend to watch this and see what he thinks too since he is getting most of the lashing out.

AmberBamber5676 maybe this is it!! I have found that figuring this out has been the most helpful. Not sure if you had a chance to watch my most recent video but I posted an update of what I have done that has helped without my doctors help. Aka: a bunch of prescriptions. I did watch both of your video updates. I got paid from work today and plan to make a trip to the pharmacy tomorrow morning to get some vitamins. I showed this video to my bf and he said he did agree that it sounds so much like me, then he was very sad to know how much I've been struggling with these feelings. He suggested to look into multivitamins or even a prenatal vitamin along with the mood enhancer. Thank you for replying too, it's honestly nice to know someone understands how I am feeling. I don't have a lot of friends anymore because I have withdrawn and just let friendships fall away which makes me sad, so I do appreciate feeling like at least I'm not totally alone. This has really helped me and I hope maybe I can update you in a little while or keep you posted on progress as well. Fingers crossed, my new journey will start tomorrow. :)

I feel like I can't be a normal human being and do things other can. It is def a struggle and I don't want to go on medication either tried that and it made it worse plus all the side effects!! I found out about what PMDD is just RECENTLY. Thought I am demon posessed every month (can't say since when), about a week before the mencies. I wonder if this gets worse with age. I have been moody, but noticed it becoming obnoxious as I'm nearing 40 (will be 39 in July). I don't want to traumatize my dear mother. I love her. Thank God I'm not married or have kids yet. Don't want to traumatize my family. BUT, no such posession observed the last time / month - was very surprised as I was waiting to see what will happen. I behaved real good, to my amazement. Just yesterday, I ordered "Flow & Glow" 60 caps. Will see how it works.

I take Serenol. I struggle with pmdd too but it went from some anxiety and depression and feelings of shame or guilt to severe depression and anxiety to the point where I couldn't eat or sleep and I was suicidal. Serenol has gotten me back on track. Every once in a while it pops back up. this month hasn't been the easiest, but it's nowhere near the monster it was. Maybe you should try it. Also diet and excercise help a lot, and I couldn't do it without my family and friends.

I go through this except for the pulling out hair part. Before, I just thought I was being "hormonal". I'm glad to finally understand what it is. I've been trying to explain it to my GF. She's understanding but I can't help to feel bad for putting her through it. Because sometimes she understands and sometimes she doesn't but she does try. I too don't want to use the drugs because when it increases a hormone, it may lower another which may result in another disorder. It's hard. But I send my love to those who experience this as well. If I can give any advice, it would be to spend time with nature. Forget your phone and other electronic devices. Doing this isn't a cure, but it helps for a moment. A moment that is well treasured.
    Peace and Love.
    Stay beautiful.

I felt severely depressed, had anxiety attacks, could not function in every day life, did not enjoy my usual hobby's etc. My question is: Is it possible to experience symptoms of PMDD for only two times or so and that my upcoming cycles will remain normal, or is it that once you start experiencing symptoms of PMDD it will stay? Ofcourse I will notice it myself in the upcoming months but if anyone knows please tell me (I could not find any info about it). Thanks!

It really sucks we have to deal with this! Eating healthy and taking vitamins does help but it doesn’t help enough! Half the month I can barely function, I play guitar and do art and during my period I am so dam tired I physically can’t do much of anything!!! It’s so frustrating because I will be making excellent progress with my music or art and then for like two weeks I struggle to do the bare minimum and have to use the little energy I have to go to work and take care of household chores! I wish this shit would go away! I’m 38, started my period at 13, up until I was 20ish it wasnt that bad, it seems to have gotten worse as I got older, I also suffer with vitamin D deficiency which messes with your hormones, so it wouldn’t hurt to get your vitamin levels checked. I have to take 2,000 iu vitamin D daily. I hope you all feel better, stay strong and do whatever necessary to keep your stress low, for me I have to spend a lot of time alone but I turned it into a positive thing by reading tons of books and playing guitar.

Just before I started with the ssri's I was also thinking that I can't live like this for the rest of my life, I will for sure kill my self if I had to. I don't think you can be diagnosed with PMDD specifically when you're a teenager cause you have lots of other hormones going on and that's normal. I think if you get depressed to the point of self harm you need to see a counselor cause there's probably other things going on. You have to remember that there are ALWAYS people you can talk to, so don't ever feel alone. Good luck!

@@polly10022 You can definitely get diagnosed with PMDD as a teen, but probably not within the first couple years of your period. Most girls are diagnosed at 16-19 years old

My PMDD symptoms typically last for about two weeks before I start my period. I hate it. I can completely empathize.

Hey!!! We are all slowly finding out we are not alone! It's even good for me to have people comment letting me know too, that I am not alone. I will be posting a video today HOPEFULLY on what I have been doing to help with PMDD! Maybe this can help others too!

I struggle with PMDD it's been worse the past 6 months it feels unbearable..I feel depressed cuz I know it's going to come around like clockwork and I am a mother so it's hard to just focus on ME when I have never ending tasks.. it's just so frustrating because I feel like people don't understand and think I'm just being an asshole or being lazy but I can't control it.. in hungry, tired all day but insomnia at night, angry as hell, I hate myself, can't stand people, no sexual appetite, I hate my body, bloated, headaches, hot flashes, anxiety it goes on and on...

I started writing my mood swings in my journal when I feel like my pmdd is taking over. I'm considering to start smoking weed every once in a while to keep calm when it gets really bad. I was really against smoking before but I feel like it it'll "depossess" me from my terrible mood swings instantly without side effects. None of my family members really understand and tells me to control my anger... I really don't want to routinely take medication cuz I don't want to become dependent on them so I'm thinking that smoking a joint every now and then will help.

Sorry for what you are going through. It sounds like you have a wonderful friend in Chloe. There was something I didn't quite understand in your video and that was the timing of your symptoms. At first you said you had symptoms the week before your period and a bit later you said 3 weeks and that symptoms end when your period begins. It sounds like your symptoms begin right after your period ends. Would you mind clarifying? Thanx.

I too, thought it could be confusing. I had a really off day and you can see in the video i was kind of leaving things out/going back and forth an around words. So...when it first started happening it would be 2 weeks prior to my period. Then as soon as started the symptoms would go away. Then more recently in the past few months, the only time the symptoms wouldn't occur was on my period. The other 3 weeks of the month would be miserable. I will be making update videos on things I try to reduce the symptoms.
I hope this made more sense!!

Thank you. The one thing that doesn't make sense is that at first, assuming you have a 4 week cycle, you clearly had only PMDD. However, by definition, the timing of the symptoms occurs during/after ovulation and then within the luteal phase. Once your period begins, symptoms must be gone by the time your period ends and yours is gone immediately, which is great. But you are having symptoms right after your period ends during your follicular phase, which is not PMDD. A lot of women can have more than one thing going on, so PMDD and then something else on top of it. It turns out that the most common condition that screws with your emotions is bipolar disorder - not uncommon for women with PMDD to have. The psychiatrist should be able to say one way or another, but it is not good that neither doctor picked up on the fact that symptoms in the follicular phase doesn't happen in PMDD. A long time ago I had PMDD - long before PMS was in the media. I found something that worked and I wrote it up. You can certainly contact me if you like. Because of the fact you no longer fit pure PMDD, and I believe you said you are on medication which might interfere with this, I don't know how well it would work. My email is btakacs1@yahoo.com and the link is
orthomolecular.org/library/jom/1998/articles/1998-v13n04-p215.shtml. You would want to clear this with your doctor first. Someone on RUclips did a modification of what I did but she never contacted me. PMDD does not always disappear as soon as the bleed begins - for many it continues until a few days after bleed. I run a support group for over 1000 women and this comes up a lot.... it's not unusal x
