    Strength: Neither hard nor strong but with a low density giving excellent buoyancy.
    Durability: Overseas reports indicate that Paulownia has good natural durability, but results in New Zealand suggest that it should be classified as non-durable in ground contact, being no more durable than untreated radiata pine (

    paulownia wood is the best wood in the world : light but strong, extremely stable , resist to decay and insect attack, extremely easy to cut and work ... as precious as sequoia sempervirens or other taxodaceae species ...
    for example : in the future, logistic industry will claim wood pallets in paulownia because the wood is as light as poplar and as resistant as oak wood !
    paulownia is the wood of the future .
    other example : paulownia can be cropped with farming crops ... so , in the future, no moore needs to get wood in forest to supply wood industry : it will entail a lot of saving ground, ect ...

    • @MeanOldLady
      @MeanOldLady 5 лет назад +1

      That's what happens when you plant a monoculture crop & catastrophe strikes & wipes out the whole plot...
      Focus on growing many native species to your region - that thrive in your weather conditions.
      If one crop takes a hit, there should be enough diversity to help buffer those losses.

    They look like hybrid poplar trees, if so , it is considered poor quality wood, because it grows to fast, where as regular trees, grow slower, which results in sturdier wood.

    • @jamescampbell1060
      @jamescampbell1060 3 года назад +2

      Most fast growing species will have less dense wood therefore weaker but tthat does not mean the tree will not prove useful for many purposes. some traits such as extensive sprouting from surface roots or new stems sprouting from already pruned area can probably or have already been selected out with selective breeding. I will researchand post my answers, but i believe these company already offers 4 strins. Tomentosa is probably the weedy one that kind of has escaped into the wild. Hybrid poplars are usually considered the fastest growing decideuous tree in temperate zones and there are crosses between the cottonwood and quaking aspen that are the most studied tree in scientific literature. there are strains with 2x stoma and can use almost twice aras much CO2 and fuzzy types with more trichomes that also grow 40% faster. there are even some genetically modified strains using a bacterium that already uses this poplar for a host that can hyper uptake heavy metals such as copper and nickel that make the tree fungus resistant and any lumber from the tree more resistant to rot. Any fast growing tree that has a useable wood product is still a good idea since the carbon will be locked up until the wood is burned or placed into an environment where it will rot. If a strain grows 40% faster, this means that it draws down 40% more carbon than the slower growing strain

      @@rickster348 There are several different types of Paulownia tree. The Tomentosa variety is the invasive one. No reputable grower will sell them. I have two of the Kawakamii type in my yard and they are lovely shade trees without the invasive traits. People who deride all Paulownias as invasive are simply ignorant of the facts.
