Nice Video.
Do i have the same effect if im configure the switchport as normal tagged in voice vlan AND untagged in client vlan? so the client gets data dhcp and the the phone voip dhcp or is there are difference in data flow?
Greetings from germany
How would you do tagging and untagging vlans if the phones do support such features?
thanks a lot, helpful!!
Thx a lot
Friend need your help. I can not make voice vlan work.
My PABX distributes the IP address to the Alcatel handsets.
I have an Alcatel IP PBX connected to an HP-1950 switch on port 48, this port is set to TRUNK and allowing the vlan 1 default to use for data and the vlan 100 for voice.
On port 46 of the same HP-1950 switch, I have connected an hp1920 switch making uplink. Port 46 of the hp-1950 is also configured as trunk and allowing vlans 1 and 100 voice.
In switch 1920 I followed what you informed in the video and also left all the doors set TRUNK, however the alcatel phones can not get IP in the network.
In this 1920 switch when I disable the voice vlan option and leave all the ports of the switch configured as trunk and in vlan 100, the phones can pick up the ip address of the telephone exchange.
Thanks for attention,
i have a 48 port switch which carries data/internet. is it ok to share VoIP on the same switch with different VLANS ? or should i use a separate switch for VoIP, cause your book says it's "sensitive traffic".. just wondering if you could answer this question. thank you.
Yes, it is ok...kedd data in vlan a end voice in vlan b
My phones do not support LLDP mode, can I use the same steps but will configure my phones manually to the correct vlan? Noticed you changed the port link type to trunk my ports are all Hybrid because I have my data vlan untagged and currently my voice vlan as tag on the ports. I did not use the voice vlan option. I want to use the voice vlan option to benefit from the built in Qos. I have separate vlans already configured for data and voice.
yes, you can ignore the lldp part of the video, configure the vlan manually on the phone interface that´s connected to the switch. have a nice day!
Thanks really appreciate the feedback will test. Will my ports work fine when configures as Hybrid with my voice vlan as tagg on the ports? I cant see any other way otherwise the phones will not get IP's from DHCP.
i would suggest u to change from hybrid to trunk. The phones i am using do not support lldp, so i had to configure the port as trunk set the vlan manually on the port connected to the switch..but leave the phone port connected to my computer without any vlan configuration...that way i am using vlan 10 to voip and vlan 1 which is the default vlan to the computers.
On the trunk u will have to configure native vlan 1 and allow vlan 1 and 10 (my voip vlan) on the trunk
Thanks.
what is the difference between tagged(Hybrid) and trunk and untagged and access?
Oh the silent RUclips video.
Great. Now do it in CLi...
