My dad introduced me to dire straits when I was 16, the song was sultans off swing, every time it came on the radio in the car he would turn it right up, and I always remember how moved I was during the outro solo, after that I ate dire straits right up, going through their entire discography, at the time I had just begun to learn the guitar, through out my adolescence my taste in music got heavier and heavier and sadly I had distanced myself from dire straits fast forward to my mid 20s I have revisited them and cannot stop listening, I appreciate them more then ever and everytime I hear them it brings a tear to my eye and I think of my dad, and I’m grateful for him

I did have that love. . .and "it WAS just that the time was wrong." ! ! ! He told me exactly that. He was a few years younger and wanted to play for the Montreal Canadians (goalie.) Decades later, told me that it was his FATHER'S DREAM. . .NOT HIS. Too late now. I just discovered this song, because in the 80's I had a baby and a toddler and I missed so much good music. Dire Straits man. I'm 54 years old I first heard them in like 1978 when I was like 10 years old and just it's one of the reasons why I play guitar and I play guitar like him with my fingers a lot of times although I'm having problems with my hands and now at 54. So when I say they don't make bands like this anymore musicians like this anymore and that they're one of the greatest bands to ever exist I mean it and I'll defend that to my forever Mark Knopfler is just incredible and so is the whole band they just don't make that kind of bad anymore so many good songs so many good songs
