he tries all the high performance stuff at first and realizes the board just wants to cruise. Amazing the speed he suddenly gets down the line the second the wave shapes up
This kid, Ericson, is a really good surfer. You could see him learning from waves to wave what the board would do. The last couple of rides looked like he'd grown up riding traditional fish.
A reminder of how these short wide and flatter board's can get you a LOT of waves in less than ideal conditions. See how he rode that one in the soup! That's the power of a fish! Ty, Steve :)
Hands down the serfer with the best style ive ever seen. So realxing to watch and super smooth with the way he can combine shortboard and longboard rechneques while riding this fish.
Pushing that very slick Liss! Bird is so generous and a wealth of knowledge. Make sure you hit the Shed in San Diego if you ever need a refill to the stoke tank!
Pt mugu 78 79 bought the kamazy modle from fellow knee rider. Needed the money to go further. I was in the navy just beginning my journey. San nicholas, Hawaii, Oahu, Kauai, midway, wake, Diego Garcia, christ church, Maui then back to midway. Now in Humboldt. Still have the board after all this time. It's in better shape than me! Time passed too fast! Hope to see you all in the lineup
Still have my mom’s Lis she rode at Newbs, Simmons and P.B Point with Skip. It’s very rare, the swallow tail flexes on both sides because they taper out so thin. So when you bottom turn they flex and whistle. Winter is here, that means 🦅 sightings at Simmons soon. R.I.P. Steve Lis and My mother Valerie R. P.S. I love how Lis incorporates the ying & yang in his signature.
I wonder how the bottom contour is on that board, he rides it very similar to how you'd ride a displacement hull with that low, narrow stance and the frequent rail grabs. So satisfying to watch
@@Bebtelovimab No. David shaped standup fishes. Different shapes with different purposes. Length, width, thickness, rail contours, plan shape, fin shape and placement all variable, but wide splittails and twin fins in common. I never heard of people kneeriding Nuuiva's boards, but I was in San Diego rather than Orange County at that time so I could certainly be wrong about that.
@@Bebtelovimab Good question. Maybe it was the same as the kneeboards he shaped for us, and maybe not, but the Lis fish of the 70s was, by design, a kneeboard.
Okay now a little PB Point soul on a Steve lis fish at Malibu I've seen it all now,. That's right Sonny that's called The soul patrol . . Anything's possible in 2021 Southern California is completely overrun protection whats yours . Over and out

Can editors of surf videos all take note of the music selection used here.
Stoked you liked it!
@lilbuddha thank you!!!
Yassss lad!! More jazzy stuff, waves are more like jazz anyway, always slightly different
Most of the times, like in skate edits, the rider chooses the song that is playing while they ride. How its always been
@@pat33ohara56I don’t think they’ve got music in the water…

I've watched this like 15 times. So relaxing and makes it looks so easy. I love the glidey/skateyness of twinnie retro fishes. So dope!
Same! Stoked ya like it!

Peter from South africa
Dudes a natural fish rider
I can't stop watching this!
I’ve never seen Malibu that uncrowded
It’s rare!
Incredible lines on a piece of history.
Hell yeah. Good to see retro boards cruising

Keep up the good work Aloha Visuals! Great edit! Mahalo!
Much appreciated!
Insane style!!! 🌊🔥🔥🔥
Timeless!
Love the snake job on the long boarder.
Wow, smokin' on the fish!
great surfing. most of the time I mute the music, not this video, those are some good sounds !!
Music sucked
I agree ☝️ great music!!

The whistle would be the fins
@@ryandawson4457 between the keel fin and the bending of the swallows you get the whistle

I think Steve Lis is still alive, i heard he lives here in Hawai'i
Just so everybody's clear the RIP is for my mother not Steve. Have a good Christmas and get good tubes
Great music!
The 5:22 party wave looked so fun
we like to party!
Yes. That's when the term "crossover" had a whole different meaning than it does now.

Sick sesh 👾☠️👾
cool shirt Alex's band is sweet
Wow killer shop! A natural but board does have restrictions.
Excellent surfing especially considering it's a kneeboard with fins further back- stiffer ride.
Agreed!
Oscar Peterson,Ray Brown et al,swinging baby !
Classic fish, from the birdling!
Really good!
Bird, Lis both Legends
Smashing style
Damn, and imagine how much better he would have surfed it if he had waxed it first!
Yes!
Wow that thing is fast!
What a surfer!!!
Song?
4:12 How does he keeps on going??😂
What a "class act". Milking a wave, pure fun to watch.
Dood rips on that little sled…Almost empty bu, rarity 🤠
Just Art 👍
Looks so fun
Magic
Was hoping for his feedback, i think he could surf anything well though.
Great surfing
Which surf shop is that?
Birds Surf Shed in San Diego! An amazing surf shop and board museum!
He wasn't a huge fish fan? 😀
Sick 🙌
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
smooth style
sick🔥
smooooooth
what do you shoot on?
this was shot on a sony fs7, but I shoot on a canon c500 mark 2 now!
@@alohavisuals looks fantastic! Great work
It looked slow and wtf crazy plain chubby water projection it was made for him ne fully did it justice
I picture Mickey Dora giving this kid a gentle ass shove.
No way this is Malibu nobody getting dropped in on ?
Nice riding in small under powered waves. Kneeboards work best in hollow conditions: a steep drop, square bottom turn and strong drive down the line.
Looks like mikey February
Surprisingly he let anyone ride it let alone wax it and without a leash!
In the early 70s kneeboarders didn't use leashes.
Thats bird for you
@@shshsjanajsh1235 I just met Bird today there!
looks pretty dificult to surf
“Didn’t have many fish boards in Australia”? The fark? Man this dude talks some hipster smack
Kneeboard.......!
