Great to see that the Viggen is still flying after all those years. Spent parts of my youth in Sweden during the 70s, so this brings back some good memories (not to forget the Draken)!
I remember making the Airfix kit model of this back in the 1970s. We have the Royal Swedish Airforce displaying the Saab Drakken at the Bournemouth Air Festival next weekend
Still awesome. I loved this aircraft as a child and built the Airfix kit of it. Still a favourite and so good to see one still being beautifully flown. Sweden; please bring it to RIAT!! Thanks for the post.
The "E" designation was 'Electronic Warfare', Wikipedia tells "A few aircraft were kept in an operational condition for electronic warfare training against the Gripen" until around year 2007. The manufacturer SAAB is funding the Historic Flight activity (SwAFHF) where veteran military servicemen volunteer to keep a fleet of historical military aircraft airworthy.
@G. Love 64 It used to be a great Nation, where Everything worked,i was born during that wonderful time,But the Sweden i liked soo much and was proud of,has been destroyed by an incompetent bunch of politicians.
This is a very downscaled version , in terms of abilities ( not size). The last versions had so sophisticated avionics that they cannot be maintained and for shows and display they kept the more simple versions.
I have as a 13-year old rested in the air-intakes, in the factory. Very smooth and comfortable :) One day they performed landing-gear tests. Most or all of the airplane was restricted for the risk of one being crushed or being like a pizza up in the landing gear well.
Viggen was designed for very short take off and landing capabilities for road bases or parts of an airbase runway. The requirement was 500 m for start and landing. To do this, you need to fly at low speeds and that's why Viggen has a canard, a strong undercarriage to handle the impact (the boogie main gear) and an reverse feature to stop before the 500 m mark, even in icy conditions. The boogie main gear also helps to straighten up the airplane along the runway when landing in crosswinds. I hope this answer your question about the "four back wheels"
As @subban15 wrote. The undercarriage was basically built for heavy duty carrier style landings (aka "controlled crashes") in order to land hard and short.
No, it's absolutely not contrails... It's kerosene. From an aircraft mechanic point of view, I'll say that it's fuel which goes from the tanks to the fuel pressurisation system and then go outside with pressurized air through a vent. But absolutely not contrails.

THE ONLY Issue in Viggen's performance (not counting 'Stealth' or internal weapons) I see that could or should, have stopped it's use or up-grades, is Roll-Rate. It had THE GUN, weapons, reverse=thrust, STOL, and radar to be front-line even now! It's Climb rate Alone (intercepted a SR-71!! WTH!!) of 54000 Ft/Min. is in itself notable! I get 'why' Sweden didn't import (ok, so Finland, Singapore, Switzerland, or Taiwan could use these?! or not.) them, but dang, keep a few around! Too good to toss aside!
SAAB ended up with a license-built version of the Pratt & Whitney JT8D-the same engine flown on the 727 and DC-9 airliners-known locally as the Volvo RM8.
Hope. Hope in otan (sweden not member but in close relationship), hope in europe, hope in british/french military and nuclear umbrella. Short story : swedish gov cross fingers.

If there was ever a aircraft that looked as if it meant business----this is it!
Beautiful cold war era aircraft. Self starting. Able to go in reverse and operate off of roads. One of my faves.
The Swedes definitely know how to make great Jetfighters.
Great to see one flying again. Saw a few displays back in the 90's. Great jet!
Yes they have another aswell.
Best jets most never heard of, these never get enough attention.
I have never seen a Viggen in action until now and had no idea it has a built in thrust reversal capability. Astounding!
Just watch out for those UFO pliots they will out shine that jet.
@Libs Hate Montesquieu how about.. NO! You can't turn around and take off again that fast with only a dragschute
it's the only way to get it back in the garage afterwards .....unassisted !!
I have always loved this plane.

Fantastic shot of the Swedish Air Force Saab SK-37 Virgin displaying for Zigermeet Airshow 2019 mate

You gotta love this historic beast,
I love everything about this amazing aircraft.
Still awesome. I loved this aircraft as a child and built the Airfix kit of it. Still a favourite and so good to see one still being beautifully flown. Sweden; please bring it to RIAT!! Thanks for the post.
Just incredible good! This place with mountains/alps and the SK37 i the perfect math! Good job!

I was at this display with my son and my wife. Great display and this video has the right quality, beautiful ! Subscribed !
Thank you very much !!! I also think it was the highlight of the show !!
One of my favourite aircraft. So interesting.
Beautiful plane , saw one of these at Southport Airshow at the weekend!
You are right it is an amazing aircraft
One of very few things that makes you feel proud as a Swede nowadays.
For sure 😁🙌
just try to take your country back....
Retake Sweden. Show your Nordic blood.
@Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel How did you feel after Gen. Patton's 3rd Army whooped your ass in North Africa?
@G. Love 64 It used to be a great Nation, where Everything worked,i was born during that wonderful time,But the Sweden i liked soo much and was proud of,has been destroyed by an incompetent bunch of politicians.
Really good video of the SAAB SK37E Viggen! The afterburner sound is just amazing!
Absolute stunning aircraft.
SAAB VIGGEN looks so badass. Love it.
Yes you are absolutely right !!! Thanks for watching !!!
Awesome design ! Cool camo paint on aircraft super excellent aircraft 👍
I always liked the Viggen ! Very badass looking fighter !
gorgeous video ! so nice to see the colours of an aircraft ( against the mountain .) instead of just a dark silhouette !! AAAaaaaaaaaaasuuuuum !
I have always loved this beast stunning location as well we could do with historic flight here in Uk as well. Thanks for sharing
Wow! Now that's some raw power

What a beautiful bird!
I thought "52" was the last flying Viggen? Hope its still flying too.
Sweden should be very proud, this aircraft was way ahead of its time!
To my knowledge, there are two flying Viggens currently
@@Stoyon Yes, there is this one ( SK 37 E ) and the "silver" one wich is a AJS 37.
This aircraft always made me want to buy a SAAB 900 Turbo.
In the air, the plane looks as if the Concord flew into the ass of the MiG - 21 and got stuck there forever.
a classic one of my favs, what a great sound! : )
Beautiful aircraft!
Was waiting for this video ;) was there and it was awesome!
Mit Sicherheit eines der spektakulärsten Kampfflugzeuge!
Such a beautiful fighter plane. Great video, a BIG Like.
Thank you very much !!!!
Great plane capture
I built a Viggen when I was a kid.
Very nice video with one of my absolute favorite aircraft of the cold war era . . . :O) .
Awesome 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Der absolute Oberhammer!
Danke für die genialen Aufnahmen!!!!!!!!
Ich konnte nicht dabei sein :-( :-( :-(
Fabuleuse vidéo sur ce bel avion....
Gorgeous surroundings! And Fuck yea it's Viggen! =D
Wunderschön, Danke
Spettacolari
Wow, take an F-4 Phantom and move the horizontal stabilizer to the front, and you have an SK37E.
Except F-4 has 2 engines while Viggen has 1
So basicly it looks nothing like F-4
awesome manuver
J 35 Draken Symbol of speed, JAS 39 Symbol of agility, JA 37 Symbol of POWER!!!.
swedish airplanes symbol of nothing...
Just watch out for those UFO pliots? They will out shine that jet any time. W Percival from New Zealand 🇳🇿 Gardenia Band 🌼
Superb
Tolles Video, danke
Beautiful silhouette. Does it have a back-up beeper for when it goes in reverse?
It has remote for garage opener ! He can call his wife and say Honey ! What you cooking tonight ? Im hungry ! I'm out just flying around .
I think does...left button on the left!
BEAUTIFULL !!
Awesome
Wow awesome shots mate... why does a fighter jet have four back wheels... Well Done...👌🏻👍🏻
Because she's a rather big lass, hence the 4 wheels :D

The sound of JT8D!
fantastic display video
Saab Viggens can go at 2231Km/h.That's very fast.
But means nothing
Good looking jet. Wonder what the white spray is coming out the rear?
The white spray is contrails (condensation trails), due to humidity and low pressure.
No, it's absolutely not contrails... It's kerosene. From an aircraft mechanic point of view, I'll say that it's fuel which goes from the tanks to the fuel pressurisation system and then go outside with pressurized air through a vent. But absolutely not contrails.

Great Video! What camera are you using?
Klasse Video und Arbeit! Auch von mir ein Like!
awesome video
Nice one design
Bien venido 🌟🌟
Awesome!
Un avion d'un autre age !
Wow, this fighter can reverse move on runway, also it have reverse thrust! So short landing as you see
only single engine plane that can do that.
THE ONLY Issue in Viggen's performance (not counting 'Stealth' or internal weapons) I see that could or should, have stopped it's use or up-grades, is Roll-Rate. FAB Thunderbirds are go 👍🏴
wunderschön
Viggen and Draken are graceful ..but existed in the 1970's
💯 👌
My inner MANPAD training is kicking in....strangely......
Thats a weird looking plane, but cool as hell
Love these. Love, not like.
Växte upp nära F18.
Huvudstadsjakten, tryggare med J35 runt hörnet.
Tack så mycket !! Tack för ditt stöd
Daaamn, that took some fuel.
I like the "Draken" better.
Tiawan could buy the Viggen !
wow!
Does Saab make the engine?
The Viggens engine (RM8) was actually made by Volvo
SAAB ended up with a license-built version of the Pratt & Whitney JT8D-the same engine flown on the 727 and DC-9 airliners-known locally as the Volvo RM8.
@@FAA-DPE Yep . . But it was a very modified version of that engine . . . :O) .
Why does it look like a modified f4 phantom
The Toyota Hilux of the air.
North Korea might be interested in upgrading with these to replace their Korean War era Migs.
А снизу это бак?
No one in the back seat? Who's going to do the Nav and Bold Face checks :-)
Queue up BEHIND me!
What happened to Sweden?. They used to have 75000 in the forces and now have 15. It's not the all woman government is it.
Hope. Hope in otan (sweden not member but in close relationship), hope in europe, hope in british/french military and nuclear umbrella. Short story : swedish gov cross fingers.
TILLMANc2 Stick to the Armageddon script.
Sub par male response, sad human being. Try fitting in, if you can.
Its a wonderfull plane, mutch better then that f35/f22 planes.
MrPeerum I wouldn't go that far. But it is a cool looking plane for sure.
Lol thought it was DCS
8.45 low appoach the jets blast on the tree

Судя по откликам многим нравится беременная новогодняя елочка.
I don´t wanna meet Viggen in a dog figifight, It scares the death of me,
👍🇸🇪🇹🇭
Can it hang looks like an f4
Great aircraft, wonderful design, and the Swedish people are great!! Such a civilized nation - others take note (especially Trumps Amerikkka),
