Her friendship with Chef Didier is one of my favourite things to watch!! Sometimes I just rewatch that one scene of her ordering all the food, him being intrigued that one woman wants all the dishes with no substitutions and then leaving the kitchen to come hang out with her. 🥹
My girlfriend was watching the "snowman turns into hot guy" movie last night so by extension I had to watch it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be . It felt like a made for TV movie that would have come out in the 1980s
Thank you for this, I personally don't have a "go to" film for the holidays, I was raised Jewish, so the whole "Christmas movie" thing was not something that really resonated in my house, but I've grown to really love them for exactly what you stated - that cosy feeling of love and warmth, and that little bit of miracle to be let into our lives. One of my all time favorite growing up was _While You Were Sleeping,_ which I can't really find nowadays.. There was something very sweet and wholesome about that "holiday chick flick" that I miss in the many _many_ entries of the last years - I was really hoping the Our Little Secret would be like it, but there was just so much lying and shenanigans going on that I found it hard to root for the main characters.. I really wanted more good chemistry and connectivity to the theme of family on Christmas that I didn't really feel I got..
Dash & Lily is not a film, but it’s an amazing xmas show that I watch every year! It came out December of 2020 and it has a 100% rating on RT. I highly recommend it, if you haven’t already watched it. ❤
It does! If you want more of their world, it’s based off of a book trilogy. I only have the first book but plan on getting the second book this xmas. Enjoy your rewatch! 📚🎄☃️🧀 🥧🥨🍡(pretend the dango emoji is mochi)
I was hoping that they'd film another season but it wasn't renewed. They filmed a couple of scenes for it in Dyker Heights which is my neighborhood, which is known for the Christmas lights displays. I will never understand why they invest in shows and then choose not to renew them when they're based on books that are a series to begin with
@@danicee I completely agree. I think it’s because it had barely any marketing so the view figures were low. But honestly any Netflix show that a.) doesn’t have insane numbers like Stranger Things or b.) is super cheap to make, like realty tv, gets cancelled. **And oh that’s so cool! I actually went to Dyker Heights when I last visited NYC. Such a cute neighborhood! ☺️
Last Holiday is not only a top tier Christmas movie, mas a top tier movie PERIOD. And if Jasper has one hater and it’s you, then I’m dead. Iris is the best, and The Holiday is unbeatable.
I watched "That Christmas" on Netflix and it was one of the best holiday animated films I've watched in years. The last holiday season animated film that resonated with me was "Rise of the Guardians" which had me tearing up at some scenes. It seems that live actions are focused on the talent and not on developing the plot leading to an undeveloped, tacky project that relies heavily on casting to market. Also, a lot of Hallmark holiday movies have actually been good this year, but most people are not subscribed to their streaming service. I feel like the ones I see on tv are more similar to what they have been known for making and the ones on their streaming service are more modern and less cringey.
Your comment is quite literally THE FIRST I am hearing of this animated film. I looked it up thinking it was going to be something that was released however many years ago only to find a release date of LAST WEEK. 💀
@@LadyJenevia Yep, I found out about it because the promo showed up on my Netflix upcoming page and then a channel I follow on RUclips mentioned watching it and loving it so I decided to give it a watch. It was so good ☺
if you liked That Christmas, I would HIGHLY recommend you watch Klaus if you haven't already. Very similar heartwarming vibes and one of my favourites I watch and cry to every single year.
@@scarletbabushka I was literally about to say please watch Klaus~ it’s the closest thing to the newest and modern Christmas classic we have received in decades that isn’t just “we should either remake Scrooge or another Rudolph movie”
Phenomenal recommendations! I'm also a Muppets Christmas carol fan! The Grinch is on as background noise from Thanksgiving forward in at least one room of the house.
@@LadyJenevia 1000%! He deserves all the positive attention from it. I also adored the whole thing like you said where it really felt like I was a part of that world. Every single person (all made up to be mythological beings/creatures) in that scene looked incredible! My friend and I were raving about that in particular and knew that the behind the scenes for that would be fascinating. The special effects and prosthetics makeup work plus costuming all came together beautifully. I really hope that gets more of the spot light.
I took my brother to watch Red One, we had a really good time and fun laughs. I can't speak for the original script, because we don't have english as first language and watched it dubbed, so the jokes were spot on, but IDK how much could've been changed during the translation process. A movie that I love to watch in the holiday season is the one where Jim Carrey has to take care of penguins in his house, I don't know the original title, but we call it the "Dad's penguins" movie, the first time I watched was as a kid in theather, so I got my grandma to buy me the dvd, it's so cozy, make's you feel great while also having good laughs.
My required viewing holiday movies are "Scrooge" (the musical version of "A Christmas Carol" starring Albert Finney that has EVERYTHING: cheeky street rat kids, people dancing on a coffin singing "Thank you very much", an employer who doesn't suck, and a shopping spree, with lots of catchy tunes) and "The Muppet's Christmas Carol", because obviously. I try to fit in the original animated Grinch, and maybe some classic TV show episodes like Dr. Who or something, but the first two are absolutely vital.
How have I never seen Last Holiday? I am going to have to search that one out! Also, I didn't see Dash and Lily on your holiday list. It is a Netflix original minseries that I loved for both holiday joy and holiday sarcasm. And it has a half-asian protagonist!
You'll like Last Exmas, a small but full of heart production from Canada, centering a lesbian love story and small town antics! I too am in an endless quest to find comfort xmas movies and this one entered the rotation
My guilty pleasures are meet me next christmas, love hard, and hot frosty. The first due to Christinia Milian and having nice mkmemts between the main couple. Hot Frosty due to how self-aware it is and seeing everyone having fun. Love Hard is for the nerds. And I like seeing how love doesn’t always look like fireworks and heavy breathing and boom boom pow. As far as I'm aware, Violent Night still has the sequel in development? I'm glad it hasn't come out yet because that makes me think they're taking the time to get things right (but also, I'm assuming David Harbour has other jobs so that gives the rest of the team time to work on the pre-production parts of the process before it'd be time for him to put the suit back on). 🤗
