Very sad seeing the plane remains but agree it's good that it has been left there as a reminder so that the tragedy is never forgotten. Beautiful white sandy beaches. Gorgeous.

Great tips on pasta - thanks

Shows the troubles with navigation if you get lost. Interesting to see the wreckage still there, wonder why they didn’t leave it where it crashed? Nice looking cake! Lovely to see the dogs on the beach. The pasta looked nice. All the very best, David & Rachel ❤️

Hi both. Thanks for watching ❤️ We wondered that about the wreckage. Not sure why they dragged it down the hill. We did think that because it’s in a stream now where the water can run through, it’s become a kind of living monument. ( rather than the more usual stone or statue) certainly very poignant and a real sense of the tragedy being there. Take care ❤️👍😊

Lovely video. I am American and was fortunate enought to visit England and Scotland for the first time last year. We really enjoyed our time in both places. We do long to go back and stay a bit longer. I live in Southern USA and we have beautiful white sand beaches but they are hot hot hot! Thanks for shareing the journey.

Hi Pen4tenn. Thanks for watching and commenting ❤️. So pleased you visited the UK last year. I bet your beaches are gorgeous. Definitely not so hot here in the Outer Hebrides! Safe travels 👍❤️😊

Thanks for sharing this. As a pilot myself the weather dictates a lot about what you do but these guys didn’t have as much choice whether to fly or not. Some lovely food there too.

Thanks for watching and commenting ❤️ As a pilot you must have a lot of empathy for what those pilots went through. We found it particularly poignant as the plane itself was the memorial. Normally it’s a statue or plaque or cross or stone. Really brought it home. Safe travels ❤️👍😊

Always very emotive visiting these places. I’ve hiked to see some crash sites in the Lake District. Sad places.
Very sensitively filmed and edited Graham. Maybe one of the most scenic of memorial sites.
    That drive was absolutely incredible.
The landscape is just amazing and we just have to get there soon.
Oh my goodness - a Tunnocks wafer cake 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love the way the cows roam free around there
Many wow moments as you say!
And that Sunset across the beach. Stunning.
    The Pasta Bolognaise looks scrumptious.
This channel always makes me hungry 😃😃
    Safe travels guys.

Thanks for watching and for your lovely comments ❤️ That crash site definitely felt very sad. But the way the water trickled through the wreckage brought some sense of calm and peace to the tragedy which must have been so awful. Found it all very poignant.
      Hope you get there soon.
The cake was delicious and you simply have to sample one 😉
      Take care both ❤️👍😊

Barra and Vatersay were our favourite islands on our trip. I found the Catalina memorial very moving. Like you, we were the only ones there, and it had an incredible atmosphere - or perhaps that was just me being over emotional. I’m not going to admit how much we spent at that little cake shed! 😂 We were on holiday and they were delicious. 😊

Thanks Suzie. I wouldn’t like to pick our favourite. We only spent a couple of days on Barra and Vatersay. It wasn’t enough. Those cakes were lovely although nothing for Ellie there. Glad you enjoyed it. 👍🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙‍♂️

Did you get to going into the Barra Heritage Centre in Castlebay as that had more info on the crash and a model of the plane hanging from the ceiling. I have loved your outer Hebrides vlogs as it reminds me of our travels there last summer

Cant believe you went to Vatersay and didn't go to the mass grave from the shipwreck. A passenger ship heading for Canada with men women and children sank off Vatersay and over 300 people were buried in a mass grave where they were dragged ashore. There is a monument over the site. Such a poignant place.
