I too wish the 44’s had a more extensive mixer built in. When I do sound reinforcement for bands (or any use really) I always use an external mixer. However, my desire for an internal mixer would be to act as a backup should I have any problems with my main mixer. Or alternatively, if I did use the mixer in the 44’s, one could act as a backup to the other in a pinch. This is where the PRX One and my RCF jMiX shines - mixer has tons of features and inputs , and can be controlled remotely. I am sure the 44’s sound amazing. Thanks for the video!
I picked up my set in december and i love them, chose them over the evox 12 and im a RCF guy but i like the flexibility of these and gonna get the separate subs for cardioid later on this year. i stand to correct you its speakers in both columns its mids for the lower column and the highs in the upper column
Just got my 44 G2's to bad you can't buy the bags or casters anywhere. Fedex Driver delivered one LD 44 G2 today and WOW just one sounds incredible. I still love my EV50's for certain smaller rooms but for the 150 to 300 people events the 44 G2's are on deck.
I did and I ordered what they had but won't be in until March and they only had one caster. I really don't wanna be messing these babes up without the covers and casters on them
I got a Maui 28 G2, which is the little brother to the 44, about a month ago, mainly to use for ceremonies. I've been really pleased with it so far. I'll likely at a second at some point in the future for smaller events.
So what would you recommend. I had a pair of qsc k12 and 2 ksubs before. I kept the ksubs and got a pair of rev evolve 50s but I'm not happy with them. I'm looking to upgrade to something else.
DJ Jay, love the video. I currently have two QSC K10.2 and one QSC KS118. I'm considering adding a second KS118. However, I'm really liking what I see about these types of systems. My events are always less than 250, sometimes outdoors, sometimes barns, sometimes indoors; mostly barns. What's your opinion on selling what I have and getting two of these?
Hello fellow DJ brother, I’m looking to add the Maui 44 G2 to my systems. Do you recommend them. Currently I have the EV 30’s 50’s and Maui 5 go. I’m looking for a powerful and portable column array. I’ve been following you for some time and enjoy your videos. I saw these when they first came out a few years ago in the Anaheim convention center. Just wondering your thoughts from previous gigs. Coming from the evolve 50Ms myself I was skeptical especially because of the expensive price. The LD systems is not a popular brand in comparison to EV, JBL, Bose or even RCF here in the United States/LA area. Only 1 Maui 44G2 arrived yesterday & I can safely say it has blown me away. Incredible sound and the engineering / construction is solid. The sub is definitely heavy but there’s something about the build that gives me a lot more confidence. I think the evolve 50Ms come in at a strong 2nd place. Especially because of the tech forward features like iPad/iPhone app control and the built in mixing board. The weight of the 50Ms are perfect too. But I’m choosing sound quality, loudness, heavy hitting bass on this one - and the Maui 44 G2 is the winner for me. Can’t wait to sell my evolves and get a second one.
They look great, but the price! If I decide go full column speakers I suspect the JBL prx is my next speaker I really hate the plastic construction but price to performance JBL seems unbeatable except the RCF j8
@@Realdjheisenberg how comfortable would you be with those JBL’s and 150 people in a school gym? That’s sort of the extreme I know for column speakers but really trying to get a sense of output.
@@DJLEOdamadprofessor They are designed for small places, not large gymnasiums. A pair will handle 150ppl easily in a small-ish area but not in a wide open space/outside where the guests will be spread out. The thing I found with column arrays is that the base don't project very far. Having said this, if you are not looking to blast them with deep R&B bases, they will be perfectly fine. Or just bring two extra subs (I use two Bose F1 subs for large venues, and they blow chess thumping bases. You'll feel and hear the steel of the gym roof resonating!).
Jbl is always going to be a great choice. Im just highlighting another option to consider. I am a quality guy so everything I use I have to study, try, and compare before I put it on display. These passed those test
Nah my guy. And it does have a 3 yr age currently but it still is within the upscale look of todays mobile dj look. Lots of compliments so far but will be put fully to the test this yr
Yeah I have the mk2 and in small room say 50feet by 25 feet. They were great for a corporate style party. In a larger hall they really fell off at that 50 foot distance!
Did one wedding with the 44, Great speakers, I prefer look and weight of Bose Pro 32 with Sub 2 units, wider Soundstage on 32 but both are similar otherwise and not extremely different price range. I experienced a sub unit failure on 44 the fellow dj ran and have seen a few others with 44 issues but they could be isolated incidents.
Sub unit failure specifically with the G2 model or the original 44? The thing I don’t like about the Bose is the column array floor pod. Just seems like guests have something to step on, spill drinks on etc. i just received my 44 G2 and the only thing currently I can openly complain is the weight of the sub. Thing is quite beastly heavy. I’m coming from the evolve 50Ms.
@@arrestedsounds4659 Ev is lighter, smaller and not as powerful. 44 much bigger and heavier with a lot more punch and power. EV sounds good 44 sounds great.
That was actually a very good tutorial. Great video editing.

How good is the linking two units via Bluetooth? is it reliable?
Hi Jay...at 6:01...that lighting on the floor is really nice. What moving head model is that? Inno Spot Pro?
Hey DJ, what volume setting do you run yours at for the main and sub? Tech at LD Systems told me point the dial at 2-3 o’clock range.
I find there’s an awful lot of bass behind but not enough out front, Any advice?
Great video. While looking at your video I notice you only was showing one speaker. Did you have two speakers while doing your events?
Oh I def. Have two. Latest vid has both showcased

Could a pair of these handle high school proms
Of 100 - 175 yes but I would add more speakers for 200 plus

I would have to hear this system because at $2,699 a piece for them is a lot of damn money to get it and it don’t sound like it’s supposed too!
Yeah I still have ( and plan on using still) qsc system. Its nice to have an alternative though. Def. Worth the sticker price
250 outdoors will stick with 18s qsc
I’m stuck between these and the 28s… I have QSC tops as well.. but anything to make life easy. Great review!
Preciate that! Fantastic alternative also

Dated? G2 model came out max about a year ago. To not be confused with the regular Maui 44. Just wanted to clarify 🙏🏽
In your opinion which is better in a bigger room. Compare to the JBL Eon One MK 2 Please.
The JBL isn't in this same class, it won't throw as far or have as much punch

I would say for a bigger room prob. These cause these cover a pretty good distance. Hard to say though cause I don’t use JBL’s
There should be 6 midrange drivers on the bottom array.
There are. You're right. 12 x 3.5" midrange drivers and 4 x 1" tweeters on a waveguide.
There are. That was my bad on the break down
