Athira Purushothaman shared her story of availing a Rapido bike in Bengaluru and her tweet has left people in dismay. Bengaluru Police have taken note of the incident.

1. Females should not use Rapido bike ( Rapido cab/auto is safer) as they are not safe
2. A rapido bike guy told me that many of his fellow rapido bikers only take up only female's requests in evening and night (they come to know gender by looking at requestee's name), so that they can chit chat, flirt, and even stalk.
3. As literally anyone with a bike and licence can pick up riding rapido bike, their skills and motivations vary widely. This leads to all kinds of mishaps. Most of them drive extremely recklessly in my experience.
4. From personal experience, a female colleague of mine was once taken on an isolated route with the excuse of shortcut, which it clearly was not as she knew all the roads and shortcuts like the back of her hand in that area. She had to shout and even get off the bike to insist the driver to return to normal route. It was dangerous and she was on call with me during the entire ordeal, to keep me informed about her whereabouts.
I felt completely helpless in that moment. We did complain but such complaints are reactive measures, not proactive.
It is advisable not to take rapido bikes by the females and risking their life. We can't trust people in this cruel world . Anything can happen in India !

This complaint is given by woman who have started to lie these days. So one should take her statements with loads of salt. Investigate the truth and then decide. Don't jump to conclusions like a silly woman / man. It is hard for a man to masturbate while driving. What he can do is adjust his penis while driving and may be massage a bit while driving. But masturbation is big deal with lots of movements of hand which is not possible while driving without falling. This woman is most likely lying.

Rapido is very inconvenient and the drivers will harass you. It has happened to me a week ago when the driver reached my location and was not responding to calls. Eventually I couldn't board the ride but he didn't cancel the ride either. I didn't cancel since I didn't want to pay the fine because of him. He waited for around 80mins until finally canceling the ride himself. This has happened to me multiple times and I seriously do not know what benefit they get out of this.

She is not falsely accusing. The same incident happened to me and my friends. We were in an e rikshaw and a man on a bike starting doing that thing. He had a piece of cloth near his private area so whenever another car or bike crossed us he would hide his private part with the cloth.

Once i booked a rapido bike to my office in whitefield. The guy came in a different bike (number was different) i was suspicious but the phone number and otp was matching. The ride was only about 10 mints so i traveled on that bike. Nothing happened during the ride eventhough he was talking to me continuously throughout the ride and i avoided the conversations. Later on he started calling me during midnights. This continued for several days. I used to ingnore. He stared messaging me on whatsapp and I blocked him immediately. One day i picked up the call in my husband's presence. He was making wired sounds when i said hello. My husband took the phone from my hand and as soon as said hello. He got panicked and cut the call. He never called me again.
My wife has faced a bad incident when she had booked a Rapido too. She was wearing shorts and a sleeveless top and the guy was continuously touching her legs from her exposed thighs till her ankles and continuously commenting on her arms and waist. And both the mirrors were focussed fully on her and the entire discussion was around her clothes and his crush in her. This happened more than 6 months ago and it's the last ride she took on Rapido

When you book a ride through ola/uber/rapido the driver doesn't get your phone number, unless you personally gave it to him. This is another FAKE story to get FAME.

Bengaluru auto people were rude sometimes but they were well behaved. But these bike taxi services are really toxic. These cases are increasing day by day. Delhi has banned these bike taxi and many other governments also. Even it's time for Karnataka government to ban these system.
Drivers of autos and cars don't have close proximity physical contact with passenger whereas bike riders do. So passengers need to think and hire accordingly.

These companies must ensure safety and comfortable journey for a woman. They should hire female riders/drivers and it is to be noticed for a customer is male or female i.e. male rider for a male passenger and female rider for a female passenger. As it is totally uncomfortable when a girl behind a driver sits and a driver would intentionally try to take advantage or misbehave during the journey. Also necessary equipments like a camera with audio device for a driver is required for their own safety too.

Need to investigate on this matter, we can't believe women after hearing only their side of story. She should mention where was this happen and when. Is it at night or is it a day ? Was nobody really there on street ? Why is she silent when he's doing it? She could've shouted for some help? She's saying she's afraid that he would kill or rape her ? She could easily run off instead of watching ? She could easily call 911 or police number whatever it is. Finally I would like to give a suggestion to women, please do not take these bike taxis at night as it is very dangerous, always prefer govt transportation or cab.

I feel can feel how horrified it can be because i had a situation with ola. Driver purposely took wrong route when I realise I asked him he build some story. I somehow smartly got down in between where I saw few people around. I reportef to Ola . Took the vehicle registration number but I didn't hear any update. I don't know if the driver genuinely missed the route or was upto something. All I understand is I was scared, i tried helpline it went unanswered,..and 5km.destination turned double for me. one hopeless and worst service we can get is Rapido, when complaint to Customer care they don't respond properly. Dont know how this Rapido people interview and do background check of their employee's before they join.
They don't do any background check. You can simply go ans get admitted if you have a bike and driving license.
