Very prosperous and much thriving area of the world.The access to river and sea as well as railways they had built gave them access to anything they needed. The land was rich in Oil, gas etc They had hospitals, schools, places of worship for all, cinemas, theatres, lots of businesses. The colonial settlers got to keep all of that when the nakba was inflicted. Israel would have had no infrastructure to start their colonisation regime .

For the most part, these protests are anti-Netanyahu, but all the other real political contenders (Lapid, Bennett, Gantz, etc) would be no different on the issue of Palestine.

A totally wild thought - that most of the state brutality you see coming out of Israel tends to be the army, IDF. It is very rare to see footage of Israeli police, the IDF seem to be prominent in public space, or at least near Palestinians.
