A good add if the price is managable, has cup winning experience, thats a good thing and he and Domi on the 3rd line would be a hard line to play against, certainly not afraid to "get they're nose dirty".
The shots and takeaways jump out to me , imo those little things make a big difference when it’s late in the game and you need to have puck possession and hold onto a win or force a OT scenario .
Leafs need a big fast centre and move Matthew's to wing. He isn't able to deal with the wear and tare of playing center, and do you really want Matthew's chasing puck. He's there to score and he's not doing much of that when he's always hurt
I believe Treliving will only be looking for rental C options because of Minten. Especially concedering Tavares is 99% coming back (don't want to Jinx it) Tavares will still be the 2C next year based on his performance thus far, Minten getting a full season to Tutor under Tavares Matthews will improve his game immensely
Only caveat I'd have regarding Gourde, we already have a guy on each line with grit, plus they all score. Knies Patches Mcmann Unless Gourde is replacing Reeves, I don't see him being a great fit.
Reeves is a winger and can play alright, while Gourde is a centerman and a proven playoff performer. He would be fantastic for the postseason. They cannot have too many playoff performers, particularly centremen.
@GospelTestimony At 5 goals , Gourde isn't exactly a scoring C. Domi healthy is a way better 3C option than Gourde, who's also small and full of Grit If Gourde comes over, it'll be as a winger, and probably 4th line
@@shaneturner1809 We don't need a guy who scores a lot of regular season goals, then dries up come postseason like what we've seen for years, but a guy who's proven to score when it matters the most.
@GospelTestimony If a guy doesn't score in the regular season, he's probably not scoring in the playoffs either. So to expect a bottom 6 grit guy to all of a sudden score a dozen goals in the playoffs, regardless of his experience, is silly
@@shaneturner1809 That's not at all correct. Are you suggesting that the game remains the same and doesn't change, come postseason? Come on Shane...if you've watched hockey long enough, you should understand that there are certain role players who step up their game come postseason, and more often than not, it isn't always your skilled players. Their skilled game hasn't resulted in anything come postseason, but with Tre and Chief, that should change because they understand that the playoffs isn't akin to the All-Star game.
@paoloricci4569 Trouba wanted out of NY. Reilly does not want to leave Toronto. Huge difference. He has to totally agree to waive his no movement clause and also agree to a trade to a team of his choice. Not to a team that the Leafs want to send him to. Not going to happen.
I wouldn't mess too much more with the D core. I'd certainly be willing to listen on Reilly in a blockbuster type trade, or Benoit/Timmons being upgraded on. But they should do something soon , so they can set the pairs and allow them to Gel
@ yeah I wouldn’t mess with the d-core either, it would be kind of hard for Nick schmaltz to switch positions from a centrerman to play defence!!! Lol 😂
Gourde ... Just what we need with Robertson and Dewar. Total weight 300 lbs.
Has more rings than the rest of the Leafs.
I think Robertson would be what is going back.
Gourde with mcmann and pacioretty kinda fire
@@rickyaz8640 He was definitely the reason they won ANY of those cups. He was a member of a very very good team. They would have won all 3 without him.
If they do get gourde i hope they make it a big trade and get tanev and jamie oleksiak too

The size of his heart is more important then the size of his body this player is all heart

Here is a trade that makes more sense: To Tor: Boone Jenner, Olivier
To CBJ: Robertson, Hildeby, Kampf, 2nd rd pick 2025, 3rd rd pick 2026
Forgot to add Reaves to that trade
Old, small, expensive and left handed. Pass for me.
Who would you suggest ?
Please trade Robertson and free up his salary cap to give to Marner and Tavares.
Schenn to solidify Rielly. Or else he’ll be a tire fire for the rest of the season

If he’s healthy by trade deadline the Leafs need Boon Jenner who can easily offset Bennett!
Already have minten what we really need is to get luke schenn back ...need some physicality on the back end

Schenn? No thanks.
No for Gourde.
How about Cale Makar......lol 😅
Meh. Old guy with meh stats. Just being on a team that won a cup doesn't = instantly good.

Marner to centre for at least 10 good reasons. Centre problem solved. Easier to find a winger.
I think Marner plays better up the ice as he can hold the puck and create room until his linemates get up ice
