yeah no it wasn't the hard R it's just the accent! it's got a linguistic name and everything it's called the intrusive R and whenever a word starts and ends with a vowel our british accents often add an R sound in between so for example law and order can often sound like "law-r-and-order" ("lorrand order") so when fredo said ni**a and it came out as "ni**a-r-and" due to the intrusive R because both ni**a and the word and both start and end with vowels 😊
the hard "R" isn't a thing over here, it's only in US that anyone cares bout the R or A ending, it's the same word everywhere else in the world. er or a makes no change.
