Turbulent launch conditions. I'm glad your female companion carried gloves on the accent she wore with her skis (poles stashed) to fly down. Another great composition Philip, danke, merci, thanks!
thank you wind direction was no perfect. it was facing the big wall and so wer were kind of in the rotor. I decided to carry both skis, so my girl friend can take off easier at the edge. Therefor I had to take off further behind (in the rotor 😬) to get some speed with my skis on. It took me some attempts, but it worked ... finally ;)
year ... und Danke für die Outtakes, da fühle ich mich nicht mehr so schlecht, dass es "alle" können und es bei mir manchmal z.B. am schwierigen Start hapert....
Niiiceee!! But the skis were rather just for the case the wind turns bad in the evening, right? ThereÂs a room with no heating though, to stay over night.
I still start only forward and It works much better for me since 22 years. Especially with skis. I tried twice and both times I found myself in the air twisted 180 degrees.
Once again, TOO FRIGGIN' COOL!! 😎 Good choice with the music too. OK, so I have questions... 1. Do you know/recall, what was the approximate weight of the gear (skis, harness, gliders, H2O, etc.)? 2. Looks like you flew down with both sets of skis. What's the easiest way to carry the second set? Vertically strapped to the outside of your harness? I'm looking for ideas, because I found it to be a real annoyance to carry similar gear, since the lines just wanted to tangle up on it. 3. Your friend/wife/girlfriend/significant-other/compatriot had her brake lines tied short enough that the toggles were at the pulleys without a ton of bowing in the line. It looks like the short brake travel would cause some trailing edge deformation when speed-bar/accelerator is fully applied. Is that just a deceptive appearance in the video? Thanks! I'd mention that it's a really nicely done video of what looked like a great time, if it weren't for the burning envy that stifles such compliments.

One pair on my feet and the other mounted to my backpack. It was a difficult take-off and I decided to carry my girl-friend skis, so she can launch easier. It depends on the take-off an the wind/weather conditions which variation works best. I think in this particular case it would have been better to mount both skis to my backpack , so I canhandle the bumpy conditions at the take-off better. But as you said, having things mounted to the backpack often gets tangled into the lines. So you have to be aware of it. About the breaklines of the PI 19, I think it is a deceptive appearance in the video. At trimm speed there is no deformation at the trailing edge And thank you very much for the compliment of the video ;-)
Awesome video! What happened on your launch? Almost looked like there was some wind rotor coming over the cliff that caused a partial collapse? Love the Susi 3!!
LG, Philip
Great video! I am looking at the SuSi, what's your feedback on this wing? You have both a 13 and 16? I was leaning on 16 or 18. Why did you choose that over single skins? Also how does it compare to the Pi? Thanks!
Hey birdymeo! thank you! I have a Susi 13. Unfortunately I haven't flown a bigger size yet. But heard a lot of good things about the bigger sizes as well. I had a single skin for three years (Airdesign UFO 14), and I was very happy with it. Especially for the purpose of run & fly or descent alternative on some mountain trips. I choose the susi 13 to have a faster wing which I can use for competions like Dolomiteman or Rise&Fall as well. In my opinion Susi and PI2 are both great wings, can't make any mistake in buying one of these :)
Philip Brugger thanks Philip. With the UFO, did you find yourself often impacted by the lack of speed in higher wind, and by the lack of glide? I am asking because I have a single skin now (Run and Fly 18) and multiple times I hike down the mountain because wind is a little too high often (20kmh) and the single skin 18m does not move forward with wind. That’s why I look at the SuSi but maybe my size is just to big if you were fine with the UFO 14.
