I love how Bay and Daphne are considering themselves sisters and both of Kathryn and Regina's daughters...

Is something going to happen between Bay and Travis?

Spanish is not the native language unless you're talking about Spain. Which this show clearly is not.

+Dragblacker Regina is Latina so her native language is Spanish and thus it would be part of Bay's heritage.

+Minette L Boroda Even so, I don't really care for the line nor its delivery. It feels like a plug for the audience to learn Spanish (in fact the whole show has, among other things, kind of an ethnocentric promotion to it, and not in a good way. Heck, making Regina Puerto Rican seems like the writers are stuck in the 50s-60s. But I digress.)
If Bay said she was learning the Taino language, that'd be more interesting and accurate, since Regina appears at least mestizo.

+Dragblacker making Regina Puerto Rican is like the writers are living in the 50-60? Can you please explain? Puerto Ricans native language is Spanish.

      Ericka Velez
Puerto Rico's native language is the Tainos' language, and whoever else was there before the Spaniards. And even then they originated from someplace else, too.
In the 50s-60s the "Hispanic" characters in media that took place in modern urban settings seem to be largely Puerto Rican to me, probably a reflection of the migration of Puerto Ricans to cities like New York. Nowadays they tend to be more Mexican, or Central/South American. Westerns of course have lots of Mexican characters due to the close proximity between Mexico and the Old West and the number of Mexican descendants in said Old West.

+Dragblacker ok but saying that Bay is learning the Taino language is farfetched since she is not learning the Taino language at all. The taino language is not only extinct, it was also not Spanish. The original Spanish language was not taino since Spanish comes from a mixture of various dialects which would include Latin, Celtic and others. Puerto Ricans native language is Spanish given that the island was first conquered by the Spaniards and the languaged evolved to what Bay is learning now.
