This is a German thing.. Over Engineering as usual as BMW has head down this same path. I think people concerns will be around tried and tested so if you are purchasing a car with the engine, know that it has been in production since 2017 is multiple models. We are now in 2024 we are seeing replacement videos and talks This video looks like it's posted just outside the 2017 model warranty. This is a Bosh product, this unit is protected from outside forces unlike a traditional alternator. It should, based on generator technology in these days, last a good time over the ownership of the car as cars last longer than they did 30 years ago. Mercedes makes one of the strongest lasting V6 engines in the market, spanning over 25 years of upgrades, changes and fixes. It's the technology we love to have which causes all the headaches.. it would seem that heat and cold cause these parts of the car to fail more than we'd like.
this is problem ready to start too much work and very expensive just leave the old style altinator and starter much cheaper this is only money for mechanic and dealer
How long does this isg last for? This looks like a very complicated process for a any mechanic to do!
Truly should last the life of the car since it’s brushless. It will depend on the bearings or if a massive short circuit occurs.
Whole car life
感恩了解,謝謝分享!
That’s why i love lexus LS
More interesting, how long does the waterpump etc last ? Is replacing the aggregates easy?
Great when do the small units come out for 4 poppers???
Does that means the gasoline engine will not have normal starter because it's ISG ?
yes
Yes
yes
Muito legal parabéns
wonder how much a dealership charges for an ISG replacement
That would be two arms and a leg
leave the ISG just ask about the 48V battery and see the problem
What is the result of a good ISG on multimeter???
Where did you get that underhoist with a shaft?
Probably mercedes special tool ofcourse soon only dealers will be able to repair their own cars not 3rd party shop!
That will make a nice wind turbine
so hydraulic torque converter right ?
This is going to make the cars depreciate fast
Do we foresee this engine being swappable into older models in the future?

Engineers never think about mechanic 😅
And customers
I don’t know, that’s a pretty nice mounting plate fixture and lift they designed for them
This doesn't look like a very tough job. The spare part would be expensive however
Wow
A slightly more complicated clutch replacement
It’s a “stalternator”!
Зачем снимать , когда можно прозвонить всё на месте ?
Так они снимают или устанавливают этот стартер генератор?
Should have watched this earlier..
why?

This is much better and longer lasting. Normally there isn't a reason to replace this
@@v12-s65 It's mercedes. They 100% fucked something up in their overcomplicated design. Germans cannot do simple.
@@FryChicken I own this powerplant. There is nothing that went wrong in 6 years
@@v12-s65 It needs to last longer than 6 years.
@@v12-s65ever had any problem?
Worst design for maintenance. All German cars are garbage for maintenance.
Germans build the best cars. Drive your easy repairable dog shit engineered fartcans then
Not really true. Mercedes come apart and back together extremely well.
