Such emotion for the piece combined with an obvious joy of doing what he loves. This is the finest performance of this piece I have ever heard.

Nikolai Rubinstein, whom Tchaikovsky originally wanted to be the pianist, initially called this work "worthless and unplayable." As a result it premiered with Hans von Bulow as the pianist in Boston on October 25, 1875. Rubinstein later recanted his criticism and became an ardent supporter of the work. To this day this work remains as one of the best piano concertos ever to be written.
George you play this marvelously, as a true master of the work. It is very clear that you have studied the nuances. Many can develop the technical ability, but to put so much expression and emotion into the music takes true talent that very few possess. That requires a true understanding of the soul of the composer. Your performance easily compares with Vladimir Horowitz's, and at your age that is especially remarkable. Thank you for sharing your truly magnificent performance.

Tchaikovsky's music is intensely challenging and technically difficult. His piano concerto clearly shows that it is the work of a virtuoso pianist and composer.
And at such a tender age George demonstrated his virtuosity as a pianist. Bravo, George!

Yes, very reminiscent of Cliburn...same sensitivity, passion and fury. Van would get so lost in the music that he would close his eyes and seem to leave this world. His nuanced phrasings were so ethereal and elegant. I hear a great similarity in George's phrasing, a warm, caressing tone like Cliburn's. I once asked Van 'where he went' during these closed eyes excursions. He laughed as if baffled and told me, "I really don't know -- just OFF INTO THE ETHER!" waving his extremely long fingers in the air! He was very spiritual, his genius palpable. I am feeling a lot of the same as I listen to this young man play. BRAVO!!!
If anyone comes here and hasn’t seen his video as an 11 year old playing on a public piano in a park in the rain to the astonishment of everyone around, even the ping pong playing kids stop in amazement, then you have to go watch it. It is very uplifting.

I remember coming across a video of this chap a few years ago - he was around 10 or 11 at the time and played Beethoven Sonata perfectly - think it may have been the Waldstein. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Tchaikovsky PC played so differently and with such clarity, expression and touch. You can hear every single note and every phrase makes absolute sense. Mind blowing for one so young.

George, I woke up at 3 am this morning, turned on my laptop and this was the first video that came up on youtube, I think i must have listened to it 6 or 7 times. All I can say is I was dumbfounded at your playing. And at the age of 14. I have listened to you play the piece several times and i truly think none are any more beautiful than this. You certainly captured the heart and soul of this music and at the young age of just 14. So much more so than pianists many, many years your senior. I have told you so many times, almost embarrassingly so, how much I love to hear you play but this performance shows what a truly gifted pianist you are. And I still can't believe you were 14 years old!

I grew up in the 50s and 60s hearing these classics on my folk’s reel to reel stereo. It was impressive even then, and as I’ve aged, I love this classical music more and more.

Moscow Conservatory is a sacred place of world famous great composers and musicians, I am so glad to see you playing there!
