Only half of the country celebrates Christmas, and you’re right saying that most people celebrate it on January, 7th. Still, it is a national holiday and most beautiful have a break from work from December, 30th to January, 8th. Since Christmas is celebrated after the New Year most markets are called Christmas markets because they stay up until mid January.
@mariaaalexandrovna thanks for clarifying that. Orthodox Christianity isn't a common belief in the part of the US where I live so I find their traditions fascinating

I didnt know Russians celebrated Christmas. Or at least I thought since they are mostly orthodox that they celebrated christmas in January
