Brown is solid player, once he scores the flood gates will open! Kane is on the mend and stu has built his confidence back and has had the greatest streak of play in history! McCloud has learned to use his speed and handle board play to get the puck and make a play. This is the best I have ever seen the oil play since the 80's!
Sometimes that's on the otherside, too. Seems like opposition goalies come up big in playing the Oilers, otherwise there would be blowout wins. No, they're doing enough to win, and, keeping the puck out of the net at the same time. Still a stretch to go, maybe it's just me, but I don't want the Oilers to wear out before they get there, hence why the scoring title and individual points aren't the goal.
When Confidence becomes Complacency and the other team wants the game more than you do = the first and second periods. (“The Oilers were better short-handed than they were 5 on 5.” - Rob Brown) … Do that against Chicago or Nashville and maybe your goalie doesn’t save the game for you. ... Evander continues to play well on the 2nd line, McLeod looks good again (at least in the 3rd period), and Skinner saves the Oilers' butt.
At 9:26 David & Bruce ask whether Stu Skinner has ever represented Team Canada, but they don't follow-up on the question. Here is that follow-up: Skinner _has_ represented Team Canada on the 2016 U18 World Championship team, which finished 4th-place in that tournament. He won each Preliminary-round game he started (against Denmark and Slovakia); posting a .917 Sv%, 1.5 GAA on 36 shots-against combined across those games. In the Semifinals, Canada lost to Sweden in a shootout with Evan Fitzpatrick in net. Skinner then started the Bronze-medal game against Team USA, but allowed 3-goals on 7-shots in the 1st-period. Fitzpatrick was substituted in, and Canada went on to lose the game by a score of 10-3.
I like the way Coach Knoblauch is coaching. He's utilizing ALL the players by giving them roles and responsibilities. When you're given responsibility, you take pride in that, feel empowered, and more importantly you feel as a "key" part in the success of the team The bottom 6 are doing an outstanding job in their roles and duties, not only 5 on 5 but especially the PK, and they're even scoring the odd timely goal. The utilization of the bottom 6 to kill penalties has allowed out top 6 players to have more "energy" to do their business on the offensive side of things., unlike our previous coach who imo overused our top 6 by making them kill penalties, eventually running out of gas in the playoffs. I believe as long as the players buy into Knoblauch's philosophy and strategy I'm sure the team will keep having success this year, and perhaps even getting their mitts on the Stanley Cup! .
All time great coaches that Coffey has played under - Glenn Sather, Scotty Bowman, Terry Murray, Paul Maurice. If you believe in memetics, then you have to think he's picked up a few useful things about coaching along the way.
Might have been a good mention that Skinner passed Fuhr tonight for longest winning streak by an Oiler goalie ever eh guys. Honourable mention to say the least......
It’s hard to be critical when they have won 14 in a row. But they took off two periods then they turned on the jets and won. This has been a real issue the past few seasons. Stanley cup winners rarely do that. They are consistently putting the effort in.
When McShizzNizz was scoring 3 points a night last year and the previous years the Oilers would win 6-5 or lose 6-5... now everyone but Connor is scoring and they win 4-1 ..... its a better team with better lines though less glamorous....Imagine if they can dial up the offense and still maintain the teflon D.
Corey Perry was probably watching the first 2 periods, and wondering what the hell he was thinking signing here, cause Mcdavid etc were giving away pucks like candy. Thank Stuart!
Very tough decision. Ryan makes points unlike Brown. But Charlie can skate faster. As mentioned Janmark isn’t producing much but he’s good defensively.

Just to clarify, PK Subban did not donate $10 million dollars to a children's hospital. He started a charity in 2015 and pledged to raise $10 million by 2022. As os 2024, they're just past half way. Still a great thing but it was not donated by PK.

Oilers better act like they want to keep the win streak going as long as physically possible, or they'll lose it to someone they should win against. Unfortunately its probably the "its cool but whatever" attitude they have to these milestones. Incredible milestones at that. Yeah, Stanley cups are great, but those are given out every year.
