Thank You so much, Dr. Abramson !! This was a fantastic video. If there is a 'raison d'être' for the internet, it is to bring Your teachings to a worldwide audience.
You are really 'a light to the world' !
I would like to hear a special lecture on Berenice (when that stupid pandemic is over).
Heartly Greetings from Speyer, one of the SHUM cities !

Thank you Mr. Abramson, for bringing these three remarkable women to our attention. This time you used lots of text snippets in the background, which is a good idea as an aide. However, your head was often obstructing the view while watching your video. :-)

@@HenryAbramsonPhD I’m not Jewish but I love history. You present history as it should be presented by the stories of individuals in historic times and circumstances. That’s my favorite history. I would rather follow the life of a soldier in an army than an armies movements.

I believe Yahuah places men and women on equal footing. It's up to us through the working of Yahuahs Ruach to find our strengths and be confident to project that as part of our character. Strength should be used to protect ourselves against others weaknesses. I believe a sound mind leads to a strong constitution in your Ruach. I'm encouraged by the women of strength in scripture. Not all used their beauty, they used their confidence in themselves to make achievements that Yahuah meant for them to have.

    Fascinating ,
Dr. Is there any reference to Bernice in chazal?
We know from sources that Titus when becoming Emperor was much less cruel.
Quoting from Dio Cassius “After Titus became the absolute ruler in Rome , there was no longer any reports of any cruel acts of his...”
According to some the first delegation from of the sages of Yavne to Rome was to Titus because of his change in behaviour perhaps because of Bernice .
Before their petition was presented to Titus , he was killed by his brother Domitian, a geferliche rasha (Devarim Rabbah 2:15)
See Shu”t Noda B’yehuda (תנינא יורה דעה קס״א)

@@michellelansky4490 I’m not sure what you mean, Second B’ruria?.
I take issue with Freunds interpretation of Bernice playing the Queen Esther role in the story of Yavne and the rebirth of Judaism by Raban Yochanan Ben Zakkai.
      1) something of this magnitude would’ve been mentioned in chazal. The only reference is ההיא מלכא ומלכוותא in Mesechet Prsachim , that might be referring to Bernice And her brother Agrippa II . ( distinction to be made to Agrippas1 viewed favourably by Chazal even mentioned in the mishna. To Agrippa II not so see Rashi on Daniel 9:26 . The word כרת cut off is reserved for Reshaim .)
      2)some say that the Talmud describing the terrible things Titus did says ;
תפש זונה בידו ונכנס לבית קדשי הקדשים, והציע ספר תורה ועבר עליה עבירה
Some say this is a hint to Bernice ( last vestige of a monarchy queen for the Jews a descendant of Mariamne only surviving descendant of the house of Chashmenoim )who sold herself to the destroyer of her own.

Agrippas the second and his sister Bernice are probably the מלכא ומלכתא mentioned in yesterday’s daf.(פסחים נ״ז)
The king and the queen were sitting and talking. The king said that goat meat is better food, and the queen said lamb meat is better food. They said: Who can prove which one of us is correct? The High Priest can, as he offers sacrifices all day and tastes their meat. The High Priest had the right to take a portion from any sacrifice offered in the Temple, and therefore was well acquainted with the tastes of different meat. Yissakhar of Kfar Barkai came, and when they asked him this question,
he signaled contemptuously with his hand and said: If goat is better, let it be sacrificed as the daily offering. The daily offering is a lamb, proving that its meat is preferable to that of a goat. The king said: Since he not only disagrees with me but has no reverence for the monarchy, as evident from his contempt, sever his right hand. He gave a bribe and the official severed his left hand. The king heard that Yissakhar had deceived him and had the official sever his right hand as well. Rav Yosef said: Blessed is God Who took retribution [mitarpesei] from Yissakhar of Kfar Barkai in this world and did not wait to punish him more severely in the next world. His punishment fit the crime; because he would not dirty his hands with sacrificial blood and was overzealous in keeping his hands clean, both his hands were severed.
Although Rashi says they where from the dynasty of the chashmenoim , the children of Herod where considered Jewish kings through their matrilineal ancestor Mariamne , who was a daughter of Hyrkeanos .
Proof to this is the gemarra pesachim 88b
And similarly, it was taught in a baraita: One may not register for two Paschal offerings at once. And there was an incident involving a king and queen who said to their slaves: Go and slaughter the Paschal offering on our behalf. And they went out and slaughtered two Paschal offerings on their behalf. They came and asked the king which one he wished to eat. He said to them: Go and ask the queen. They came and asked the queen. She said to them: Go and ask Rabban Gamliel to rule which one should be used.
Rabban Gamliel ( the elder) lived right before the churban, making it plausible that the king an queen [מלך ומלכה]refers to this couple that seems to have ruled dually contemporaneously with Rabban Gamliel .
If it refers to Yanai and Slomtzion ( as the gemarra in kritot28 , we know that Yanai in chazal is a euphemism for the Hasmonean kings that went astray הוא ינאי הוא יוחנן ).
Slomtzion wouldn’t fit the profile of the story .
And she would of asked Shimon be Shetach some 75 years earlier.
