Pow blocks and p switches have little LEDs inside them. Coins, being just a gold alloy reflect light. Thus, if there's very little light, there's nothing to reflect. The bigger 10, 30, and 50 coins aren't actually coins, they're coin shaped pinatas with the listed amount inside, so they can also have a little LED. It's all perfectly logical.

That's not what a "safety coin" is. The safety coin is a technique used to prevent key death in red coin levels with multiple challenge rooms and reusable checkpoints. It's a single red coin you place right before a key door, often behind a one-way to keep players from collecting it prematurely.

It's never a 500 second speedrun, unfortunately.
December 2, 2021 he had an actual 500 second speedrun. He beat it with 5 seconds to spare. It was a one-screen thing with a single pair of doors that broke a block every time you made a loop and then gave the clear condition after you went through the door with all the blocks gone.

A dark level with a "collect all" clear condition is what we call Artificial Difficulty, and it's also what we call "bad level design".
If you have this game you should make a level called 1-1 but everything is wrogn

*Generally* bad, sure, but not intrinsically. All design elements are tools, and tools exist to be used where they're most appropriate. You don't hit a nail with a saw. Doesn't mean the saw is a bad tool, though.
Yep, pretty much ever dark level is bad, one of the features that should be removed from MM2

Coins reflect light because they are shiny, thus no source of light means in the dark they are not bright. P-switches look translucent like some sort of night light things, it’s not much of a stretch to say they could have lightbulbs in them. POW blocks may be opaque but I could totally see them being coated in some kind of UV reactive luminescent paint.

What about the big coins? That's the weird part to me. The big coins glow faintly but not the small ones.

11:57. I guess the "logic" behind coins not glowing in the dark is the fact that they reflect light, whereas P-switches and POW blocks somehow create their own. Doesn't really explain how the bigger coins do glow. Larger surface area maybe, to reflect what little light there is

The dark level was actually just the snow themed title-screen level with minor edits (power-ups -> vines, bonus spikes, etc.) so I think that's how you were supposed to know where the coins were

Try changing the contrast on your computer when it comes to dark levels. FYI it might hurt the eyes but you will be able to see things in the dark but it helps tho

What I love about ryukahr is his ability to always produce the same type of wholesome gaming content. I know too many people feel the need to keep changing everything up all the time, or start to cater only to adults (I'm an adult) and I believe this channel caters to families.
