I do this too. When I was younger, my mom would eat salads with lemon and a little salt as her dressing. a couple of weeks ago, I was at a Mexican restaurant and had a salad that came with avocado, the waiter forgot my dressing so I said screw it, I squeezed a lime in it, added a bit of salt, and mashed up the avocado in the salad. That changed the way I will always eat salads lmao, its so much better than dressing.
Actually, if you have SIBO or candida (usually people have both), walnuts, spinach, broccoli and chia seeds spell trouble and lead to a lot of chronic inflammation. I can eat almonds, but walnuts have too much mold on them and are also too acidic. The lectins and other anitnutrients and phytotoxins in broccoli and spinach make them absolutely disasterous for me. I pass out from leaky gut/cytokine/histaminic flare ups and massive inflammation if I eat even a small portion of these. If you have chronic fatigue, you should try to avoid these food to see if it helps with flare ups. I handle most fruit sugar very well but have difficulty with grains for the same reasons as above. Carnivore changed my life. After four months, I started experimenting with other foods and discovered that fruit agrees with me. Each person has to find what works for them. If you suffer from chronic inflammation, you owe it to yourself to eat carnivore for a few months.

I have battled my weight all my adult years. This is the only way my body responds by losing weight. I have believed in low carb, high fat for decades, before high fat was popular, my family thought I was crazy. I don't stick to it strictly, thus it has taken me years to at least get down to the weight I am at now, a 70 plus loss. I now have family members that are doing it with great results also. I am confident if I incorporate the MCT oil on a regular basis, (because I have only used it occasionally), I will start losing even more! ; )
The problem with salad dressings from a store is they all contain sugar, even an Italian dressing. Plus sometimes when they list "natural flavors or seasonings " they may have MSG in the mix. I don't trust any company that can't tell me exactly what their product contains.
Thanks Becky from the UK. This is first time I have watched you. You explain food in a great easy understandable way and you're sincere. Thanks for a great video.

My advice do alot of research....This lady is not a script writer.... thanks Doc.
Also check out Dr. Sten Ekberg. He has great videos on RUclips. He explains what to eat and the nutrition behind good foods. Do research on sugar and refined carbs. They are poison! Cut out fast food. Cook fresh food from scratch, at home. ALSO, take a GOOD Probiotic, one that has to be refrigerated! Gut health is so important! I have been taking one for more than 20 years. (You can find them at most health food stores.) I’m 59, and my blood work is always great. Please take care!
It's really amazing how much sugar is in our food supply. It may be that diets, which can include lots of salad, are so difficult is likely the result of sugar addiction. We all deal with feeling terrible the first couple of weeks on a diet. A lot of that could very well be the withdrawal symptoms you get from the sugar addiction.
Dr. Gallaspy I want you to read me a bedtime story. Your voice is so soothing! You should consider doing some audiobooks for sleep or relaxation. Maybe children’s books. I have learned so much from your videos.
It’s curious that so many people want to do clean keto to lose weight, but I want to adopt the diet due to its general health benefits (and because it’s great for digestive issues). I fight it hard to keep enough weight on with this diet actually!
Thank you for sharing all the great information in this video. For the same reason as some have already posted, I don't use commercial salad dressings. All I put on my salads is olive oil and apple cider vinegar.
Wow! This is my first video of yours. What a wonderful presentation. We seldom find someone, who is up-to-date on true information rather than the propaganda from medical and government nutrition "experts."
Thank you again! As always, great info. I never climbed on the anti-egg/butter/milk/low-fat bandwagon. LOTS of eggs, reasonable butter and milk, I have a great ticker. HOWEVER - I source from people and farms I know, who have well-cared animals that I know, see, visit. I get business cards at Farmers Markets and go straight to farm when I can. I also do cat rescue (TNR) and I make farm connections through that. It's worth the effort to find and keep these sources. I pay above the prices they ask, which are usually less than the grocery store. I believe that the less hands that have handled my food, the closer it comes to me from the earth it's supposed to come from, the higher quality it will be and the less mishandling it's likely to go through. I recognize and respect that many people have sensitivities and allergies to some foods, and I leave that to them as good reason to stay away from what their body cannot handle. For me, eggs from happy, well cared for chickens are one of the healthiest and humane proteins we can eat. I share my eggs with my pets, thoroughly researched for myself and them, as part of well rounded, balanced diet for each species. The membrane between the shell and egg has a high concentration of glucosamine, chondroitin, and collagen. And yes - I do grind and add the shells to my coconut flour when I'm being really ambitious! I've made avocados a need rather than a luxury. I try to start my meal planning from the salad first, and expand out from there, rather than the salad as a side. I've been making my own salad dressing for 15 years or so - sooo good, and I make it in pretty bottles with pretty ingredients. Nothing like that at the grocery store. I've never used MCT oil, I'm hearing so much about it from good sources, I have to get some. I always appreciate meal ideas and recipes to expand my healthy choices. I especially appreciate in-depth but understandable explanations and break downs of nutrition in our foods.
Thank you so much for such great advise and information. Could you work on speaking a little louder, or bring the Mic closer I have the volume as high as possible on my tablet and I had to put it to my ear to hear you clearly. I don't suffer from any hearing problems. Again, thank you so much. I have been encouraged and inspired by your videos. Since the end of Jan. I have lost 33 lbs. God bless you as you continue to help people loose weight and be healtier!!
Thank you for the info about MCT oil, I'm interested in trying that in my coffee! I also loved the tip about adding walnuts to salad. Thanks again Dr. Becky ❤️

Good to know, and thank you. I have been eating a daily salad for years. My husband is always saying that the dressing cancels the "good" of the salad.
Thanks for posting! I'm glad you mentioned the salad dressing. I've never been afraid of eggs or cholesterol. LOL Just one of those instinctive things, I guess.
I'm sooo glad I NEVER listened to all of that propaganda over the past 30+ years about all of the traditional foods that were supposedly bad for you. I have always eaten a trditional diet, including bacon and eggs for breakfast and full fat salad dressing. That's probably why I'm in good health and not overweight.
How to make sallad dressing, was the first cooking I learned. A child can do it. A little salt, two thirds oil, one third real vinegar, good stuff, black pepper, herbs and garlic to taste. Or use sour cream or yoghurt, add spices, lemon, whatever. Crushed walnuts are wonderful in dressings. So why buy readymade weird things? Like the big bag of gluish fat free dressing I got at McDonalds, instead of real olive oil, they had this weird starch mixture.
Thankyou Dr Becky always love your videos. I learned recently that organic eggs have a higher ratio of Omega 3 than free range eggs! I add pumpkin seeds to my green salads a good source of minerals especially magnesium which is good for my hypothyroid condition. Nori snacks also good for mineral content and to sprinkle on salads for seasoning. 🌸
I didnt believe it till i did my research. Yep ... eggs are much different depending on how they are raised. But remeber some factory farms claim free range but they arent really.
I am known as the salad queen in my family. Dinner is always made 5/6 days a week with a salad with various vegetables added. I do not buy store bought salad dressings. I use virgin olive oil with red wine vinegar.
New subscriber here! I love your videos they're very informational and I love the demonstrations and food examples that you provide...makes learning this new lifestyle a lot easier. Thank you!
I am astonished that she is recommending shop bought salad dressings!!! Why would one douse a salad in a processed dressing, given that they are so easy to make. Also, why no mention of EVOO, ie olive oil? 😮
don;t forget organ meats and other cuts of saturated fats/high cholesterol and calories. I never count calories. When I became carnivore, I needed about 2500 or more calories a day and I weigh only 115 lbs soaking wet! As I slowly corrected by long-term vitamin and mineral deficiencies by avoiding leafy greens and other phytotoxic heavy foods (which i am unable to digest safely as well as total elimination of grains and sugars), eventually I only needed half that amount of calories and I have cut all my portions in half. Essential to consume on a low carb diet is a LOT of saturated fat from grass fed meat. I drink heavy cream and cook with it and cultured butter every day, as well as olive oils and coconut oils. I eat a lot of seed butters. I'd say 70% of my diet is some form of fat. This is how I get amazing amounts of sustained energy every day and achieve very low body fat healthily. I am generally 11 to 13 percent fat and 16 per cent is high for me. I run and do weight bearing exercises twice a day, in addition to daily streching. I also eat fruit now: avocados and tomatoes and apples! Eat organ meats every day, if you can. it helps if you enjoy them, however I understand a lot of folks don't. That's too bad, because without them you can't really safely be in a zero or low carb diet, IMO.
I was ready with a pen and paper to make a list of foods I would be eating from now on, but all I managed to get from this was almonds. I already eat eggs, don't like avocados, and the other two were just oils.
I will never buy salad dressing again... blend a good oil with some blue cheese, garlic and spices, or oil and avocado with vinegar... it's delicious healthy and less expensive than any bottled product.
This is very good presentation. Also I have been living on eggs for about more than two years now and no any side effect. I eat at least 9 eggs a day and 12 eggs a day, at most.
I've never used salad dressing for any salads I've made. I love the taste of what I put in the salad, so I don't need anything to enhance or mask it. It's like putting BBQ sauce on meat. Why? A wee bit of salt and pepper and the meat tastes awesome. My salads contain whatever 3 to 4 plant foods I have in my fridge:: lettuce, tomatoes, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, pears, apple, shaved carrots, cucumber, broccoli, rhubarb, etc. I find a salad with more than 4 ingredients too much, but I like simple. The key with a salad is to pick the plant items you love and throw them in a bowl.
You are so right!! I used to hate salads but now love them with my avo acv and salt dressing with some lightly stirfried veggies on top! It's wonderful!!
Id like to add I LOVE MCT Oil! It sure enhances the flavor of whatever you use it on or in, be it cold or hot! I'll use a tablespoon per day of it and I look forward to it!
Rach Kate I found a small cup that fit into the top of my blender and drilled a pencil lead size hole in it. I pour the oil into that when blending my mayo. It works great and makes the process super easy. You can work on other things while it blends.
Definitely! I personally ADORE avocado oil...soooooooo healthy and good for you, plus has a very high smoke point! It's super mild, thus it takes on the flavor of whatever it is that you are cooking. :D
You guys are great, I eat 1 or 2 dozen eggs a week, my body says I don't want any today when i've had enough. I am trying Keto and IF again, working toward a water fast.
I have given up on avocados. They are usually not ripe enough. However, when I let them ripen for a couple of days, they either are still not ripe enough or they have black spots inside. They are too expensive to just throw then out. Too bad, as I really love them.

I love a spinach salad with mushrooms, strawberries with eggs and sunflower seeds 😁
The problem with salad dressings from a store is they all contain sugar, even an Italian dressing. Plus sometimes when they list "natural flavors or seasonings " they may have MSG in the mix. I don't trust any company that can't tell me exactly what their product contains.
They also have soy oil or another omega 6 oil in them.
Sugar-free has caused me to make my own dressing (oil & vinegar). Sugar is in most foods, too bad I regard it the same as rat poison.
Catherine Adams I agree. Olive oil. And make your own.
I am quite leery of natural flavorings. Spit is a natural flavor too🤮
I don't consume salad dressing. They have a lot of calories.
THANK YOU DR BECKY . 2 TO 3 EGA DAY FOR 30 YEARS.VERY INFORMATIVE.
Thanks Becky from the UK.
This is first time I have watched you.
You explain food in a great easy understandable way and you're sincere.
Thanks for a great video.
Dr. Becky!! I just found you today. I have been asking my dr.s and others for a good nutrionist or someone to help me. I have a fatty liver, just been diag. with type 2 diab, and I am only 51. I am also almost 300 pds. Dr.s just want to give a pill for everything... I have you on auto play on my computer right now. In the past hour, I have learned more from you than all the dr.s I have seen over the past 6 months. THANK YOU for what you do.
So nice to hear, Tammy! Thanks for your comment and I wish you the best!
Intermittent Fasting....she has a video...I've lost 50 lbs...My A1C went from 7.2 to 5.4.. all the other numbers are normal and below......I was 50 when I was diagnosed...start slow work yourself into it.....Your energy will go thru the roof...You may have to give up some meds. for this to be successful .... My advice do alot of research....This lady is not a script writer.... thanks Doc.
Tammy Gober check out Dr Eric Berg and Dr Ken Berry . They also have great information for all of us.
Tammy Gober Dr Berg also speaks tons about how to fix a Fatty Liver.
Please take care!
i just spread the walnuts on parchment paper and dry roast in oven 350 for 10-12 min
Why?????
@@gf4353 because it is so good roasted! 👍
Great to hear positive comments about eggs after years of negativity
Dr. Gallaspy
I want you to read me a bedtime story.
I love the sound of your voice and what you have to say..keep the videos coming Doc.
I'd wish you'd make a video with really good recipes for making my own salad dressings, smoothies, and kaleshakes
Easy to eat avocado toast in the morning. Top it with an egg and you got breakfast or a meal any time you want.
Glad I found you and appreciate all you are showing us.
Kroger carries Braggs dressing which is made with ONLY olive oil (no seed oils) and their organic raw ACV. It is reasonably priced too.
Thanks for your down to earth gentle suggestions refreshing in this keto craze ,love from Ireland 💚
Welcome, Michael!
Becky ❤️
Eggs and avocados - YAY! And thanks for the heads up on "Primal Kitchen" salad dressings - they're on my grocery list now.
Thank you Becky and husband for your wonderful videos.. God bless you both as only He can😇
I love his with the eggs! I ate eggs any way as I living on a farm and have my own chickens but still really nice o hear
Make your own salad dressing, with avocado or olive oil, lemon juice, mustard powder, salt, pepper, and some magi seasoning. Delicious. Yum
Cream cheese omelette half an avocado cup of coffee with full cream and MCT oil , breakfast everyday
Could you please share how you make your cream cheese omelette? Sounds delicious!
@@lindacormack365 3 eggs scrambled spiced up salt pepper onion powder tumeric (my personal desire), put them in the pan like you making a plain omelette flip it over and then add about an ounce and a half to 2 oz of cream cheese and fold it in half
@@KCCAT5 Damn, sounds good ++ with onion and chives.
@@Riqrob oh hell yeah and don't forget the mushrooms and peppers yummy.
@@KCCAT5 Now I have to go to the store.
I love that these are all staples in my diet (except the dressing...I just don't like dressings so I just splash some ACV and Olive Oil on my salads).
Doctor Becky, it's so difficult to avoid eating carbs and sugar in Winter
Good to know, and thank you. I have been eating a daily salad for years. My husband is always saying that the dressing cancels the "good" of the salad.
Thanks for posting! I'm glad you mentioned the salad dressing.
I've never been afraid of eggs or cholesterol. LOL Just one of those instinctive things, I guess.
I wonder why so many are allergic to eggs and tree nuts these days? I could eat anything til peri menopause started and food allergies started
I am so glad I found you information, I also love the rooster holding vegetables in the back:)
I'm just starting Keto and really appreciate your videos. Thanks
Jade Rose What are Nori snacks and where would I find them? TIA
Linda Cormack Hi you can purchase CLEARSPRING seaweed nori snacks in most good health shops. 👍🙂
Jade Rose thank you
I am known as the salad queen in my family.
I like salad deconstructed. I chop up the salad ingredients and eat them individually.
don;t forget organ meats and other cuts of saturated fats/high cholesterol and calories.
Thanks Dr. Becky. Your videos & the knowledges you express are really understanding.
I feel like a student in class. Great job!
Make your own dressing it’s so simple. Olive oil as the base add seasonings
Thank you for all the great advice and knowledge 👍
I was ready with a pen and paper to make a list of foods I would be eating from now on, but all I managed to get from this was almonds. I already eat eggs, don't like avocados, and the other two were just oils.
I will never buy salad dressing again... blend a good oil with some blue cheese, garlic and spices, or oil and avocado with vinegar... it's delicious healthy and less expensive than any bottled product.
This is very good presentation. Also I have been living on eggs for about more than two years now and no any side effect. I eat at least 9 eggs a day and 12 eggs a day, at most.
In knew about the avocados and walnuts, but not about the dressing and MCT oil. Good info. Thanks Dr. Becky G.
That’s an idea, stir fry veggies on top! I was just wondering if kimchi would also work on a salad, it’s good for the gut microbiome.
Id like to add I LOVE MCT Oil! It sure enhances the flavor of whatever you use it on or in, be it cold or hot! I'll use a tablespoon per day of it and I look forward to it!
Avoid canola oil too.
It's actually pretty easy to make your own mayo- you get to control the herbs, spices, flavours etc you can add in too.
Why avoid canola oil. ?
You guys are great, I eat 1 or 2 dozen eggs a week, my body says I don't want any today when i've had enough. I am trying Keto and IF again, working toward a water fast.
I really got into the salad thing when I began adding two scoops of ice cream as dressing!
Good one!
Haha!
I have given up on avocados. They are usually not ripe enough. However, when I let them ripen for a couple of days, they either are still not ripe enough or they have black spots inside. They are too expensive to just throw then out. Too bad, as I really love them.
5/8/2022 - Hi Dr Becky, thank you so much for all of the important information you are providing! I would appreciate it if you would please let me know what brands the MCT oil and the dressing is that you are showing in your video. When I click on your Amazon link it brings me to MCT oils but not the one you are showing. Thank you.
Kindly make a video on low carb - high fat food list for Vegetarians especially Indians
Loving that woodstove in the background!
