    I'm a Canadian girl. I studied psychology in university. Since being out of school for years I've worked in related areas ministry of justice and social services. I've always loved to learn and when I discovered Jordan's lectures on line I was blown away. He is the example of what's going on in the world, he teaching us all the difference between intellect and Elite. Elite want power over people, intellects want to share their knowledge for the benefit of all. Jordan's lectures on line taught me what the learn. He really is a genuine person, I love that he is challenging and thought provoking. We all really need to step our game up.

    Jordan is really an important speaker that came in at just the right time when so many people think Twitter and comment sections are how you have an actual debate or prove a point. Philosophy and life lessons can't be expressed in memes and still have a real meaning. The fact we might have to pick up a dictionary when Jordan speaks is a good reason to listen, even if it's a topic we don't agree on.

    In my opinion you guys should talk more. Why would people tune into a reaction channel and then get upset when you guys react to the video lmao. We want to hear your opinion. We value it and that's why we watch. And there's no such thing as too much Jai talking 😁 JAI-WALKER FOR LIFE!!!!!❤

      Well if you’ve watch Half&Jai regularly, then you’ll know they react and voice their opinions quite often. This was a difficult video to react to in my opinion, just because to really understand what he’s talking about takes quite a bit of attention to detail and focus. Also Peterson is mostly spitting undeniable facts lol.

      Some feminists turn away when they realize they are directly persecuting their own sons. Some keep going and try to instill those counterproductive traits into their own male children. I have read many a story of the horrors of growing up with that in your home. Especially when they have a sister and she gets treated completely different from him. The world has never been so far skewed away from men.

    Jordan is great because even with his expansive vocabulary, he is able to provide so many examples and context clues in his message that you can still understand the whole idea he is trying to convey. It's truly the most effective and informative way of really getting ideas across, unlike many of the activist-type people in academia who are predisposed to concocting nauseatingly over complicated word salads of esoteric terms and buzz phrases for what seems like an attempt to just flex on people instead of wanting them to actually understand. Jordan is smart and wants you to be smart too, but other people just want to impress by sounding smart and hoping you'll concede to their ideas that way.

    The reason he uses those words is they deliver sooo much meaning in a single world. I really recommend you rewind and lookup those big words. They reveal so much. And I have a couple of Jordan Perterson's books. I don't agree with him on everything but on this issue he is spot on. I say that as a father and a Mr. Mom, which means I raised my 3 boys by myself. I hear you Half ; I studied History and Psychology in college. I spent time in the Army. I lived in Europe. I'm constantly reading and studying online ... Yet when Jordan speaks I fall into that "Peterson Trance". I nod and nod and, 2 hours later I wake up and think "What did I just hear?" I understood every word. I caught every Idea. Yet it's the Theme, the Ideas, the Weaving of his words that keep me listening. I see Jai with the same expression on her face the entire time. Then you woke her up and asked "What did he say?" You may as well have asked her to describe last night's dream that she only half remembers but still thinks about all day long

    Between being demonized as toxic, the influx of soy in products pushed on men that increase estrogen, to my generation having absent fathers (that blame goes to men, women, and the government) that weren't taught to be men by other men, masculinity is definitely in trouble

    Without men who love, respect, and accept women to have equal rights-there would be no feminist movements. Men are stronger and could easily subjugate all women. Just like our men stood up for us during the suffrage-we must stand up for our men! I support all masculinity and embrace all differences between the two sexes! Especially when it comes to doing the often gross and dirty jobs that men traditionally do. Heheh. Jk! 🤗❤️🇺🇸

    Here's the thing, I hold a Ph.D. from thee Penn State U. The message Peterson is trying to convey is there must be balance between men and women. In other words, power has been misused and taken on as a construct as a means to an end so-to-speak. If I have the power than I am in charge. In relationships that don't work, these days societal norms are pushing men to the brink. Yes, back in the day, women weren't really treated fair. Today, it's like a flip flop paradigm shift, now women want control (e.g., power). It's all about sacrifice on both sides. Y'all listen to this classic song by Crosby, Stills, and Nash. "Love is the answer" then figure it out...

    About talking too much. Depends on what you're reacting to. If it's a song, don't keep stopping the video to comment because people are tuning in to hear a particular song, wait till the end. If it's an informational video, go ahead and comment. It doesn't interrupt the flow.

      i'll fundamentally disagree about the music vids. For people wanting to hear the song, just click on the link for the song. There is obviously a "too much pausing" line that is undefined. But most tune in to reaction channels because we want the real-time reaction/thoughts in the heat of the moment.

    I grew up in the projects and always chastised myself for not having a more expansive vocabulary. In the hood, you speak the vernacular and that's that. I used to think people like a Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro used "big words" because they were either trying to impress others or they were trying to put other people in their intellectual place. I've since learned they are doing neither, they are merely using the "best words" to convey their thoughts. So as I got older and read or heard words I couldn't understand from the context of the statement or sentence, I would look them up and immediately write them into a sentence in my head. I would also look up synonyms for smaller words and find a more descriptive word to use in its place because some words may be synonymous which doesn't mean they can't be more or less descriptive for a thought. There might just be a better fit. After a while, I could listen to more speakers and read more books without fear of not grasping exactly what the speaker or author was conveying.

    Germane just means something (an object, topic of conversation etc) is relevant to or closely related.

  • @AB-ol5uz
    @AB-ol5uz 2 года назад

    Germane means that it's relevant to the topic at hand. So, if you are talking about electric cars and someone says I want to ride in a hot air balloon, you would say that it's not germane to the conversation.
    But - definitely recommend doing a playback of Jordan Peterson's videos and pausing when you don't understand the words - so you can look them up and replay it to hear the word again in context. It may take a while at first, but the more often you do that, the fewer words you'll need to look up over time - and how cool is that?! That's how we want kids to learn - if you don't know what something means - ask/look it up - nothing to be embarrassed about. There are words that are primarily only used in a work/industry reference, and then there are words that everyone is likely to use that are more sophisticated/nuanced because they are more specific/descriptive to the point they are trying to make. Think of all the different types of the color red - pink, mauve, cherry, hot, etc. If you say pink - it will give people an idea of what you are describing but if you say Fuschia - it's a very specific shade of pink and adds more visual cues to what is being described.... If you say something tastes good - people will know that you liked it but if you say I really love the texture and flavor of x combined with y - they will understand WHY you like it - which is more beneficial to the person that prepared the dish, as well as others that are debating on whether to try it.

    The first public speaker who really molded and shaped my mind and I spent a lot of years following, studying and being inspired by was George Carlin RIP.
    No one has come close to the special place he played in my life as a beacon of intelligence.
    When I found Jordan nearly a year ago (last September), it was like the Red Sea parting and me having access to a wonderful voice of reason once again - even more so. Obviously my mind, my life, and my outlook is different now than it was in 1995 when I really started getting info Carlin. As it stands today, JP is by and large the single most important speaker that I listen to. I am awed and amazed at the knowledge, and intelligence and confidence with which he speaks. AND I can tell through and through that he truly cares about the human spirit, and loves humanity on an existential level. I could listen to him all day, and he has woken my mind even more than it was before, and provides so many wonderful things to consider and motivate me to be a better me.

He's been on Joe Rogan's podcast 3 times & he explains himself there where a knuckle dragging open mouth breather like me can understand. It helps later on because you understand the manner in which he speaks. It's not really the words he uses, it's more his sentence structure you need to get used to.

    Masculinity is/has power. Some use it for good, some for bad. Some exhibitions of masculinity are toxic, most isn't. If you're in battle, toxic masculinity in the fellows with you might prove a good thing. If you're exchanging ideas/words in congress/relationships/business probably not. There are some effeminate men, but there's room and place for them too.

    Germaine: relevant and appropriate.
    Father and Mother bring different thing's to their Children... both relevant and appropriate to the outcome of a balanced and important member of society. Can one do it alone, possibly... is it likely, no, why take the risk with their future?
    Their outcome is in your hands. The choices you make are not just for you!

    Jordan was basically saying that unlike what radical leftist ideologies claim, power isn’t the main force that creates stable relationships. It’s reciprocal. Ppl always say women were always oppressed but it’s not so simple like that

    Germaine- pertinent to, relevant. If you are discussing shoes for men, discussing different jobs men do is germaine to the conversation because some men require boots, steel toed boots for saftey.
    Antithesis- opposition. "We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools" -Martin Luther King, Jr.
    I think it would be great if, while watching something, a word comes up you don't know, write it down and either then or when ya'll are discussing things, look up the word. Alot of people may not know it either, but they aren't going to take time to look it up. Simply ignoring words we don't understand is so "banal"😉
    Oh ya'll, words are my thing. My grandkids see me read, alot. They are turning out to enjoy reading also. I taught them to read early and by the age of four they could read from the Reader's Digest. They didn't always know what a particular word meant. I try to keep a pencil and scrap of paper near when I read so I can write down words I don't know. I've tried to get my kids, grandkids or anyone to use a regular dictionary, a book instead of something online. When you look up a word in a book, you will be amazed at other words you see and stop to check out. A book dictionary is full of; "That's a word?" or "I've heard that but I never knew what that meant".
    One example is in trying to show my grandson that a dictionary can be fun I told him I was going to randomly flip through to a page and he should close his eyes and point to a word. That was kind of a bust but in just looking at the page he and I found a fabulous word. I told him that even though he was 12, he could one day use this on a resumé. Like this;
    APPLICATION; FLUVIOMETRIC SPECIALIST
    I have used a fluviometer since the age of five. At that time, I learned how to construct, maintain and repair many models of fluviometer. The fluviometer is produced in many configurations and I am proficient in the choice of location to collect optimum fluviometric data. I am able to set up and calibrate a new fluviometer, I am able to interpret data collected and after doing any required maintenance, recalibrate fluviometer to begin collecting new data. Fluviometric data is crucial to understand not only business, science but the survival of our planet.
    The word we discovered was fluviometer. A fluviometer is another word for- RAIN GUAGE!

    Dear half and J I have been watching your channel for quite some time over a year and a half and I have enjoyed every video you ever put out but I would like to ask you a question I know you probably won’t respond but it’s OK all your videos I love the opinions good or bad I agree with you 99% of the time no one could be 100%. All right here’s my question do you have a Lotta supporters why don’t you randomly pick one and while you’re doing your reaction you do a Skype and a screen share reaction and a conversation after the video to get somewhat of an idea what your viewers response is to your reaction. Thank you for taking your time out of your day and at least reading what I’m saying I value your opinion I value you as a person.

      That is a brilliant innovative idea for a reaction.
      The problem is if you randomly pick someone who is problematic (for whatever reason), it makes the upload suffer or wastes their time in having to re-do it I guess. I love the guest-appearances these reaction channels have occasionally (a parent, or sibling or grown child - even another reactor who has their own channel), but it makes it much easier in those cases to be more careful on who they have on what subject etc. I do think your idea has a lot of promise though. Truly.

      @@Frostrazor I believe these people are smart enough to choose individuals that would be good to have a debate with not everybody is a massacre aura idiot or a gun toting individual that just wants to tear people apart and everybody’s like that but you have your opinion and I respect your opinion but I do believe she’s two grown adults and Alex are there list of people and do the same thing check them out talk to them before they ever go on get to know each other all right all I know is right now we are watching them and their behavior and reaction but they don’t see the reactions that we do with them on the other side of the screen

    The thing though is that you DID get the point. Language is also context. You can tell what is meant even when you don't know the word. But just pick one word a week, look it up, put it on the fridge for 7 days. Your brain will do the rest. xo
