Actually, I figured out that they randomly assign bosses in different cups, and they get harder depending on your personal bests for that cup. I stink at mine shaft cup, so I always have an easy boss for that cup. On big air cup, my bests are in 12-14 secs, and I got a super hard boss!
3:38 Here's a great tip- Whenever you think you are gonna lose a race (especially when competing against a boss),just press the home button and refresh the mobile.Now reopen hcr2 and boom...you are on the same race without losing points. Works every time.

On the the second track on travel cup, I have the same PB as you, except with superbike. You should try superbike on last track for travel cup, I got 15.3
Nikita has kicked my arse! Raced about 4-5 times before I won & was allowed to move forward...lol. I hate it when my points are taken away and I have to win back my place 🤬
